A feature I really appreciate is that whether the shop is busy or not, upon entering I'm greeted by a representative who asks for my email address. Once given, I'm immediately placed in line for whatever service I need. I get a text instantly, letting me know I'm in the queue and will be served in the order I arrived at. This is really, really, important when the shop is busy. Each visit, I've been treated with respect and courtesy; and have been able to resolve my concerns with a minimum of effort. Abood was helping me today, and I've come to trust the staff at the Old Town Alexandria shop for all of my vision needs (although I still rely on my long-time opthalmologist to do the medical and vision exams each year). I'm very favorably impressed with the service, the staff, and the quality of the experience.

My impression is that the process felt far more focused on moving patients through surgery than on patient safety and communication. I scheduled a visit for a contact lens exam and an employee calls to tell me it's been past 90 days, which it has not and I would have to repeat my eye exam from August, in addition to the contact lens examination. My initial visit was ok, the optometrist and other staff members I interacted with were pleasant , I will say that I don't think they have the best selection of eyewear. You have to park in the surrounding neighborhood but it's normally easy to find a spot. Based on the issue with my contact lens exam, I am hesitant on returning.

My mom had a botched eye cataract surgery performed by Dr Littlefield in Nov 2006. Cataract…read moresurgeries are supposed to be a simple Outpatient procedure. What is also disconcerting is the event that occurred just before this botched surgery. She had gone in for her annual eye exam In Oct 2006-and Dr. Littlefield STRONGLY suggested she get this cataract surgery immediately even though she had no side issues or complaints when going into his office that day for her annual exam! She has been seeking corrective treatment from the Wilmer Institute at John Hopkins University Med Center ever since! It has been a nightmare. Her eye color has even changed from light brown to blue. It has been painful for her physically and emotionally. The drives to Baltimore and the occasional overnight stays (surgeries) have been a monetary strain to her and she is not able to enjoy her retirement as a result of this. Not once has he called her to see if she is OK. If she had been more litigious - maybe she could have slapped him with a malpractice suit. Dr…read more Adel Ibrahim is truly the best eye doctor I have ever seen, as he spent the time to really evaluate the best contacts to address my astigmatism, as well as explain everything about my vision. He provided me options for me to decide what was best for me without pressuring me to go a certain direction. I've never had an eye doctor be as thorough as Dr. Ibrahim and will definitely opt to see him for future visits. The woman who did my initial eye tests was also extremely nice and did not put any pressure on the optional items, such as the retinal image. The general manager was also the most pleasant one I've ever dealt with at an eye doctor. He is the individual who helped me with my contacts order and the pricing was cheaper than an online option (like Warby Parker). I was in and out in about an hour for approx. $250, including the exam and year of contacts.

Other eye doctors I've been to in the past kept giving me 2 week disposables, even when I told them that they often bothered my eyes. Dr. Adamopoulos helped me realize that daily disposable contact lenses are ideal for me because I don't wear contacts often and I can just take them out and not have to worry about cleaning them. And they have this super cool system that takes a picture of your retina, I think it can be used to identify stuff like glaucoma, diabetes, and melanoma. Then they save the picture so they can compare year to year. It is pretty neat technology.
