    Ready...aim....SNOT ROCKET!

If you like bed bugs, boogers on your pillows and non-functional AC units this is the place for you. Hard pass here, fellow reviewers. It's as gross inside as it appears on the outside. This hotel does not fuck.

My son is a musician and he had 2 gigs booked at Crystal Beach. We live 2 hrs away and these shows were back to back nights. We couldn't find ANYTHING in the community that was close to affordable for 2 people with 2 dogs. We originally booked in Winnie, TX at the Holiday Inn and they completely disappointed us with waiting until we arrived (1 hr before showtime) and told us their pet policy had changed. Desperate to find a place that accepted pets, I had read horrific reviews about the Crystal Palace Resort and would rather drive the 4 hrs round trip than to stay there but... locals had assured us it was under new ownership and improved. Reluctantly I obtained a room while my son set up for the gig. I brought our dogs to the room and was pleasantly surmised to arrive to a CLEAN, COLD COLD COL 60* room (in the dead of TX summer heat, that was very spacious (big enough for 2 adult dogs 3x4 Kennels and clean grounds and ample parking. The lobby was clean and appeared updated. It's NOT a 4 star hotel. This is a BEACH MOTEL but I would DEFINITELY stay here again and we are because we have gigs booked here monthly!!! Kudos to the new owners for the improvements and please keep it up!!! You have the forward momentum of turning this place into a great family vacation spot!!! Also note, we had very expensive electronics in our vehicles and trailers and never once had an issue with theft or anything of the sort. I read the most recent reviews on here from disgruntled customers and they're obviously not from this area. What their complaints are really aren't complaints about the motel it's about their expectations. What they expected and what they received were different but they should have KNOWN this based off the price they paid. There is NOTHING 4dtar and up for less than $500/night. You can a step up around $300/ night but they stay booked for obvious reasons. So in my opinion (and I AM a hotel/resort snob) this place is excellent for the price!!! You wont find ANYWHERE to stay on this peninsula for less than or equal to what you pay for this motel.

    Period blood in my sheet

Nasty and unclean. I turned dm down the covers and there was period blood on the bed. Absolutely disgusting musty smell obviously hasn't been cleaned with any type of actual cleaning product. Unsanitary to the extreme. Stay away unless you want bed bugs, Corona, or something else

    The humble commode.

This place is a step below your local ghetto rent by the hour type places.. Rooms smell like a bums ballsack, the hotel clerk was completely rude, saw what looked like children (12-13 years old)smoking and drinking in front of their destroyed room, and the a/c broke in the middle of the night. So save your money and camp on the beach.. The locals told us you can camp on the beach and have a small fire for free, I'm staying there tomorrow night! Haha!

Day Spa Patrons - 3 ladies We came just for massages and wraps and were rather rushed through signing in process then whisked down to a relaxation room. While finishing up the paperwork our therapist came to get us. No time to relax. No tour of the facilities, nor shown the changing room which also contained robes which we discovered way later. It was a cooler April morning and my spa room I was put in was cold. My therapist hands were cold as well. I asked right away if she could adjust the a/c and she said no. She did go get me another blanket. The message was very good but my feet were cold the whole time. I put my swim suit on and headed to the hot tub thinking this will be great. Hot tub was not even heated yet for the day - put was on. When I asked about it they said to go to the front desk. The lady scurried to turn it on. Also the Bathrooms needed toilet paper. There were No towels by the pool. No cushions on pool lounge chairs as shown in pictures. You would think when you first open up in the morning you would have everything ready and put out. A quick tour or instructions would be nice too. For the prices we paid the attention to detail so lacked. I asked where the showers where and was told none and that only certain services included a shower. So if you want to go to a really cool place and pay 5 star prices and the little details don't care to you, then this is your place. I'm so disappointed since I wanted to take a friend there when she came to visit. My take away is that their bread and butter are the overnight guests who sign up for the detox program. It's too bad since they could have a good amount of clientele who are just looking for a nice spa.

They were all speedy and friendly, helpful when it came to selecting cocktails and food. Chocolate martinis are still delicious, as are the fruity frou-frou drinks - but not that strong. And each time I got bubbly or a mimosa, it was warm. I still drank it, but meh. Drinks are still more than you'd want to pay for a not-so-stiff drink, but what hotel bar isn't pricey? I spent probs more than $100 just on myself, so I rec just buying a bottle. You have to have a wristband to access the pool and get towel service; not sure how to get a band if you're not staying at the hotel. I guess you could always rent a cabana. Which are pretty pimp. Flat screen TV, couches, fresh fruit, bottled water and of course, poolside view and VIP service. Cabanas sell out fast, so book early (weeks ahead, not days) if you're gonna drop in on a weekend. The crowd here is an even mix of families, hotties and regular Joes, which I like. I did, however, notice a lot of hot moms with their kiddos. Great idea for those moms looking for a quick getaway that can entertain both adults and youngsters. Potties: Please use them. Don't go in the pool. As added persuasion, the restroom inside the main lobby has a tub of fragrant salt scrub that's complimentary. They also have foot showers, a mojito bar, wet bar, hot tub, kiddie slide with a grotto. There's a no-smoking rule here. I'm not a smoker, but I wanted to enjoy my Hight Cigar and feel all baller like. Ah well, I'll save it for another day.

It reminded me of the instagram-famous 'big-window getaway house' which we have done before, but there's so much more to do here which I loved. The property has 1 big house that is also available to rent, along with a dozen or so container tiny homes. There are 2 ponds (fishable!) , a little goat pen, and in the middle of the property is a container pool/tiki hut with a grill (so cool!) and a big community hang-out area with more big grills, games, and TVs. Inside of our tiny home was a bag of treats for the pygmy goats, a basket full of snacks and even a little smores kit! Each tiny home comes with a grill, firepit, picnic table, and half of them have a rooftop patio. Enjoying a complimentary k-cup coffee on the rooftop patio first thing in the morning was so relaxing. There's even a hot plate to cook some breakfast without getting the grill started. You are close enough to your neighbors to say Hi if you want, but there are also little fences in between each home. My boyfriend and I had a great time socializing with the other guests at the pool and grilled together later that night. We all said this place feels like an adult summer camp. The trip is about 3 hours from Austin and 1.5 hours from Houston. One day we drove right down the street to Lake Conroe and rented a kyak for a few hours. We visited the goat pen and hand fed them. The property is super dog friendly, our dog had the best time too! We met the manager, Lance and he was so helpful and friendly. He told us that they just opened June 2021 so we gotta get this place on the map!! They deserve it. Our stay was amazing and we would definitely return.

Service is friendly and pool restaurant good. The country club is in walking distance if you want golf or tennis. There are several pools. For families, the pool is THE activity and truly, the only activity. The woodlands lake is a 5 min drive so the trolly and pedal boats entertained us! It was fun. The breakfast was delicious. What was a disappointment: - total of 1 lifeguard for the entire pool area, which included three pools and a lazy river with a wave area. There is "swim at your own risk" signage, but that is NOT a family friendly environment. - there is a 1x/ day arts and crafts that you have to pay extra to do. - the other staff-led activities were bingo, movie by the pool, and karaoke. The staff was not energetic, smiling, or enthusiastic with the exception of the activities manager who led the water melon eating contest. - it rained for one of the afternoons so we all went into the conference center for games. Wow was that disappointing. The staff was sitting around at a table, no music, no explanation of the table games, not interacting with the guests. When asked they said "you can play whichever game you want, it's self service." My husband and I used our phones to at least put on music, we facilitated a game of tag, and several families had to escalate to the manager to setup the karaoke and popcorn machine because the staff in the room was literally sitting around sticking to a rigid schedule and telling us they can't set anything up until a certain time. Of course the manager said that is absolutely not true. - the staff didn't know how to work the projector for karaoke so the kids just used a laptop that the staff member had sitting on her lap. Minimal interaction etc. The events team staff (minus the supervisor) was really subpar. Easily made for a 2 rating for sure. If you want a true family getaway, the JW Marriott in San Antonio is far superior. Photo with my son and one of the disengaged staff members. I'll also say that, again, for this luxury price, the staff need branded sweaters not oversized personal apparel.

Once we arrived at the cabin, and got settled in cabin 100 and we noticed that the TV didn't work in the living room. The internet was so slow we couldn't use our iPads. There were no extra trash bags only the one in the trash can. The refrigerator light and icemaker was broken. Hours later we noticed the freezer was not working so our food defrosted. The beds were horrible.... the queen and king size mattresses for sunken the middle. Felt like we were sleeping on the floor and there was loud buzzing sound all night. There were only 3 face towels and 3 drying towels for 5 people for two days. We called for service and the property manager came over. She could not fix the fridge or the TV. She said she would call maintenance man but he never showed up. We never got more towels, but she did drop off trash bags by the front door. The property itself needs to be given much needed cleaning. There was trash all over the property, half painted decks, boards popping up on the deck with the potential of tripping over and just an overall feeling of yuck. Because the property is actually not on the larger body of Lake Conroe, it was more of a pond with very shallow water. Because of that at times there was a rotting smell from the water. The cabins are VERY close together, so close, you can actually touch the cabins next door. This also results in hearing people stomp to their cabins, at 1am, to the "lake" side of their cabin. Being the middle of March, we expected the pool to be cold, but hopefully the hot tub would be enjoyable - the hot tub did not work - it was colder than the pool. There was a nice cabana type sitting area with a fire pit, but it appeared to be damaged with a bag of rocks on top of it. The lights that were around the cabana were half hanging/half laying on the ground. There is a common inside area that has a pool table. There are missing balls and the pool table is significantly damaged and extremely dirty. There is a beach area which was mostly sand, half constructed cabanas, a torn down fence in a pile for a bonfire. We didn't even go out far onto the beach because it was half sand/half dirt. The bait shop was fully stocked and the employees there were very helpful and friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our trip because we had an amazing time exploring the area and the family time we had together. Again, the cabin meet all our basic needs. The property has the potential to be great, but it is not there at this time.
