Called the hotel less than an hour after checkout asking them to grab something accidentally left in the room. Simple request, right? Instead I got promised three separate callbacks that never happened... and then complete silence. Pretty wild considering how much money we spent staying there. We just left the Sunset Vistas. There are some good features - rooms are big (while bathrooms are tiny), kitchen is equipped well and proximity to the ocean is nice. Management is awful. We booked 2 rooms with the same itinerary for the same family back in November. Since then we called the hotel three times asking what should we do to ensure we have rooms next to each other. We have 4 kids, one of them is special needs, so having rooms next to each other is a safety feature for our family. We told the management about this multiple times before and upon arrival. They gave us two rooms in the opposite wings of the building located on different levels. They told us that they will take care of this next day, they never did. We came to the front desk every single day for the first 5 out of 8 days of our stay. To add to the worst hotel experience, for 8 days zero time cleaning was done, we had to wash the towels, because they were not changing them and it was never enough when we requested them. No toiletries were refilled (three small tubes were supposed to serve my family for 8 days, I guess). Moreover, the toilet paper was brought after multiple reminders and coming to the front desk on the second day after the first request. The location was good and the view of the ocean was amazing. The access to the beach was great. The condo itself was just ok. It was not as clean as I would have expected. There was only one extra roll of toilet paper for both bathrooms. There was one complimentary coffee pod but the powdered creamer was so old it was solid. The bag in the garbage can in the kitchen was so small that we had to use our own grocery bags for garbage. Definitely not sound proof as you can hear people dragging chairs across the floor, talking, kids running, etc. If we stayed here again, would definitely request a top floor. I can't say the hotel was bad. I used VRBO to book. My booking was for June. I needed a larger place and called them to try to accommodate. They couldn't help. I found another place and canceled...in JANUARY. 5 months notice. They said there's a no refund clause that I obviously didn't see or I wouldn't have booked. Beware of who you book with. Black Mold and Unreasonable Refund Policy After less than 24 hours we were coughing and in need of medical attention. Here's our story. Looking to escape the winter weather, my wife and I reserved a 2-bedroom suite at Sunset Vista Resort in Treasure Island, FL from 2/18 - 3/11/2025 at a rate of $454.38 / night. We checked in on 2/18 at 4:00 pm and immediately noticed a strong mold smell in our room. We opened the doors and windows to change the air, but as soon as they were closed the smell returned. At 6:00 pm we notified the front desk. They said they would have the HVAC system cleaned first thing in the morning. Overnight we developed a severe cough. At 10:00 am we went to BayCare Urgent Care in Pasadena, FL. We were diagnosed with an acute respiratory infection. The doctor administered a nebulizer, prescribed an inhaler and cough medicine, and advised us to change rooms as soon as possible. At 1:00 pm we returned to our room. The HVAC system had not been cleaned, and the mold smell remained. At 2:00 pm we went back to the front desk to request a new room. We were told no other rooms were available. We asked if they managed any other properties and were told yes but those properties were sold out as well. Unable to locate comparable lodging, we made the difficult decision to return home to Pennsylvania. Even though they were unable to provide a clean and healthy room, Sunset Vista management charged us for the night we stayed plus a penalty night. The total bill came to $923.46. I contacted three representatives of Sunset Vista, and no one was willing to provide a refund nor were they willing to waive the penalty day. Since then, we noticed our card was overcharged an additional $500. Sunset Vista has been non-responsive. In my opinion, this resort is old, rundown, and still recovering from the hurricanes. The mold in the HVAC system will require a major mitigation. If you care about the health of your family, avoid Sunset Vista Resort. read more

I'm surprised to read all these poor reviews. Not sure if our unit is different because it is through VRBO? The room was very clean and comfortable. I like having the full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, plus a pull-out couch. We also have a beach view from our balcony, which is nice. The elevators worked fine - parking is easy. The cafe is OK. The bar is convenient, and they give you a 15% off coupon that you can continually use. It's nice to be able to rent chairs and umbrellas right on the beach. The beach is beautiful - sandy, shallow, interesting wildlife. Mostly families are staying here, but some people are a little bit wild - drinking a lot, smoking. This spot is very convenient to do things, go to restaurants, etc. read more

Booked the hotel for a good price. Checking in was fine and all. Swimming pools and beach in the back. Parking is very tight and limited. One parking per room. After swimming, our room didn't have any hot water. Went to the front desk and told them about it. The front desk told to have water run for a while. We had the water run for over 15 min. Maintenance isn't in until the next morning. My toddler had to take a cold bath. Then the fridge was not cold. All water and food were warm in the fridge. We have been staying here for a few years. It's going downhill. Mold in the shower. Dirty tables, dirty floors, I think 1 of 4 elevators work. They need to spend some money updating and cleaning. They do have a nice pool, though, I think it was damaged from the hurricane. They're making that part of the property work for guests. The view and beach access is great. I think that the other side of the hotel has a baby pool.. the room we were in had 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms and a pull out sofa bed. They use bath and body products which smell wonderful. The hotel is okay. All rooms you have some view of the beach. The room service doesn't exist. But I want to add that there is a drug problem on the island the woman in the front desk was tweaking she couldn't finish what she was telling us and kept making weird movements with her face. The same with the lady that we rented beach chairs with. She was twitching and couldn't speak either. It was hard to make out what she was saying and couldn't stop moving her hands. I wouldn't come here again it's scary to have people like this working here especially coming here with kids. People on heavy drugs are unpredictable. read more

We were very disappointed with our stay. Upon entering our room, we found a pile of swept up food and dirt in the closet, dirty napkins under the couch and someone's shirt in the couch. The carpet was clearly not vacuumed and all of the furniture heavily stained. The cleaning crew clearly did a super rush job. Very embarrassing for the resort. The property grounds are beautiful and great access to the beach. Parking is a nightmare and you are not allowed a guest parking pass for the day. For the amount of money we paid to stay here, we would never come back due to the filthy room and lack of care towards keeping the room updated and clean for the guests. Major renovations needed and super over priced. So disappointed. read more

My sister and I both fell in love with Treasure Island the first time we visited in May 2016. We did not stay at Sunset Vistas until our second visit, however, in May 2018, and returned again in May 2019. We've already made our reservation for May 2020 (and are hoping to get the same unit, 202W, for the third time)! Everything about our stay was awesome, from the second we checked in to our last night there. Every staff member we encountered could not have been more friendly and helpful. Anything we needed or wanted - fresh towels, soap, etc. - was immediately made available, without making us feel like burdens. There were no problems or issues with the suite. It was absolutely lovely. The furnishings were beautiful, and both of our rooms had comfy beds. There was nothing lacking; plenty of paper towels, dishes, utensils, pans, coffee, sugar, creamer, dish soap, bath soap, bath towels, trash bags. Washer and dryer in every room. There were even books on the shelf to take to the beach! The a/c worked perfectly, and the view was amazing! There are several conveniently located trash chutes near the elevators, for those who prefer to dispose of it themselves. We also liked the close proximity to the beach. Sunset Vistas is convenient to everything, from walking a short distance from the beach to the pool, or to our room to make lunch. There are several grocery stores nearby, including our favorite, Mazzaro's Italian Market, where we got deli meats and cheeses to have for lunch in the suite every day. They also have the best olive bar! For enjoyable dinners, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, including one of our favorites, Middle Grounds Grill. Our other favorites are Verducci's Pizzeria and Trattoria and The Moon Under Water, both a short drive away in St. Pete. We had a delicious breakfast from The Sunset Vistas' Cafe every morning we were there, and the food and service were consistently exceptional! Treasure Island Beach, in itself, is truly an amazing place, and we know why it's called Treasure Island! It is full of wonderful treasures. The shells! Oh, the shells! And the beautiful white sand and stunning turquoise ocean! And the dolphins, herons, cormorants, and manatees! And the sunsets and sunrises! And the nice, quite and relaxing atmosphere! We had a good time here and the staff were great especially during Covid. You have to call and request housekeeping services ( extra towels, paper products etc). The second bedroom was small OK for kids but for 2 adults it felt cramped. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was wonderful. A couple of things for the management to check out, the dryer in our unit need servicing, it made a loud thumping noice. I would also recommend grab bars in the shower, especially the walk in shower. We did not have the best weather but we enjoyed the views and the pool was great. Great location for many restaurants! read more

This place was our go to place every 4th of July or the week after for 30 years. We would book 4 to 6 rooms depending on how many people would go. We would also book rooms there at other times because it was our go to place. Service was always great and they would always make sure that we were close to each other. Well that has all change now. Service is horrible, prices are up and now management lies to you. They sent one family member to a hotel about 1.5 miles down the road with no beach views and told them the AC was out. Well we checked with maintenance and they informed us that management had overbooked. We've decided as a whole not to return there and it breaks our hearts. So many memories but can't see giving them anymore of our money because of the way the business is run now. read more

This place is ok. Day one we woke up to no water in the entire facility due to a pipe bursting on one of the lower levels (according to the front desk). It was fixed within a few hours, but I'm certain the maintenance staff paid the price for that. I saw a security guard walking around all hours of the night out by the pool and just the general area; he needs a raise. The parking was very convenient to the location of the condo. Although no fault of her own, a lady on the beach who owned a condo there was absolutely certain that we could leave our beach stuff at the beach and it would be safe, yet our beach bag that contained beach towels and sunscreen and a Bluetooth speaker, along with sand toys disappeared or were stolen. Again our fault for leaving it, but you try to do what's convenient and easiest when dealing with the sun and kids etc. We had to pass by the Tiki bar quite frequently, and the bartender there seems to get more obnoxious and annoyingly louder as the day goes on, so we steered clear of there after the first round of drinks on the first day. This place as a whole wasn't anything magnificent, but it wasn't terrible. Any issues we had could have happened anywhere and were not the fault of the facility, but it's just overall average in my opinion. read more

We came to this hotel last year and we had a beautiful view however this year we got a beautiful view of the parking lot. We payed $400 a night just to see the parking lot and the room was a mess. The bathtub has mold, the pans and silverware weren't clean, all the furniture was messed up and looked old, and the ceiling was cracking leaving powder on the table top. The only reason why this hotel was good on this trip was because of the beach that is accessible from the hotel. In addition the cafe that is at this resort is horrible the food isn't good and is super over priced. We would never go back to this hotel ever again you can go anywhere else for a lot cheaper than a messed up hotel room that looks like it was never cleaned to begin with and with workers that do not care. read more

Amazing beachfront resort! I stayed here last week. Check-in was very smooth, we arrived around 1 to see if our room was ready early (sadly it wasn't but they said they would call when it was). They called around 3, so it wasn't that long of a wait. The rooms were spacious and had an amazing view of the Gulf. One thing I will say, it needed to be cleaned a little better, behind the master bedroom door had some very unknown red substance. I can't ding them in my review for that because everything else made up for it. We did visit the tiki bar by the boardwalk to the water - note: the specialty drinks are around $9. Which for me is a little high but it was worth not having to drive or walk anywhere else. There are two pools - one for children and one for adults. I found myself relaxing at the kiddie pool because there was more room and most of the time - no one in it! They were having issues with their key reader so for the three of us we only got one master key, which wasn't a big deal. All of the staff was VERY friendly and helpful no matter what. I was very pleased with my stay and I will return. Also note: if you want to rent an umbrella or chairs at the beach it will cost you, they are not included with your stay. read more

This is one of the dirtiest complexes we have ever visited in Florida. The management does not care when you complain about how dirty the condos are. The elevators do not work when the wind blows, we were told it was a safety feature. SERIOUSLY!!!! we were upgraded to the Penthouse suite free of charge.... they could have kept it. The furniture was fall apart, the kitchen drawers had food and crumbs in them, the place has hardly any furnishing, absolutely NO DECOR, nasty stained carpet. There was black mold growing in every air conditioning vent. Every bathroom had mold and mildew growing on the tile and grout. The place is filthy dirty. read more

They give absolutely zero cares about their neighbors. We are a solid 3 blocks away and the music is blaring, it sounds like it's on our own balcony! I called and asked them to turn it down, and they refused. So I contacted Pinellas County Sheriff and ultimately put in touch with Treasure Island police. They lied to the police and said their event would end by 9:30pm. It's now almost 10pm, and the music is even louder. I called again asking them to turn it down, and they again refused.
