For some unusual reason, I was craving a chili cheese dog and I remembered driving past this restaurant a few times. My family and I loved to go to Coney Island when we were in Brooksville so imagine how excited we are to have our very own Coney Island Dogs here in Citrus County! It's in a convenient location on Hwy 44 with easy access to their food WITH a drive through!!! This review is for the drive through experience only. Nice big drive through sign with a decent speaker system. We were greeted promptly and gave our order without difficulty. Pulled up to the window and were served our food within a few minutes from a friendly employee. We decided to stay in our car in their parking lot to eat even though they do provide outdoor seating. Just too hot to breathe. I ordered a footlong dog with onions, sauerkraut and mustard and a large order of onion rings. We had ice water in the car do we didn't order any drinks. My footlong dog did not disappoint. A perfectly steamed long bun with an equally long hot dog (no dinky dog here) topped generously with chopped onions, a squirt of yellow mustard and a pile of warm sauerkraut. Super delicious, it hit all the notes that I expected of a dog with kraut. My large portion of onion rings were huge in size, freshly made and were very good. I even had enough to share with the hubby! A very, very good drive through experience with good food. It's not fancy but when you want feel good, kid friendly food that is reminiscent of your childhood and easy on your pocketbook I definitely encourage you to give Coney Island a try! read more

REVIEW 2, The wife stopped in for a kraut dog the other day. The hotdog was skinny, the kraut topping was 3x the volume of the hotdog, and it was cold. She felt that it was overpriced for what it is. July 4, 2022 We came through the drive thru for lunch. We learned that if we want wings, call at least 10 minutes ahead and place the order. We were able to place our order for the rest of our lunch. I called and told them about our wings. I guess it's just the store's policy to not be able to take an order for wings at the drive thru speaker. My husband was complaining about this, but really, all of the people we spoke with were very pleasant. I understand that wings take longer to cook, and really, the place was packed, so 10 minutes seems reasonable. The food tasted great. Service was very good. I will come back. read more

1st Impression as a first time patriot used the Drive-Thru, Got my name completely wrong for the order, "No big deal', food took a few minutes to prepare, 'unexpected, but again not a big deal', [[HIGHLIGHT]]was handed a filthy bag with coleslaw bits and juice on the outside 'not acceptable', requested a replacement "Clean bag", they did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Get home, every thing was cold, 'ok it was a 15 minute drive, not great but lesson learned not a to-go joint', unpacked the bag, noticed my order was NOT complete, the Mexican Fries were absent, 'not happy, but mistakes happen', call the store explained the omission, requested a simple refund for just the missing Fries, was informed I would have to return in person for a cash refund only or to be provided the missing Fries, escalated to the shift manager for the refund, was again told cash refund only, would have to appear in person, was then offered incentive of free fries, milkshake and/or a few other options for the inconvenience. Begs the following questions; Why only in person refunds are allowed in cash? How often are orders not filled correctly? Is quality control an issue? Conclusion: Terrible consumer business practices and Drive through is a waist of your hard earned dollars for their meal, unless you're going to eat immediately in the parking lot! If you won't refund when your employees make a mistake, then why should anyone return or continue patronages of your business? read more

Sauerkraut not good no flavor at all.The cyclone fries sit in a bowl no heat lamp just a cold stainless steel bowl guess what they were cold too. If you like boiled hot dog water this is the place. Coney sauce and onion 3. Sauerkraut and mustard! All the dogs were super good! I'm not much of a bread eater and the Buns were super moist. My wife had a NY dog, chocolate shake, and shared my fries. We ate inside. The chili cheese dog was barely warm. The dog itself was of mediocre to poor quality. The chili was awful, barely warm, and had virtually no meat, and had beans. Truly awful. The vanilla shake was nothing but soft serve in a cup, and the chocolate shake was vanilla soft serve with chocolate syrup. My wife liked her NY dog, and said the sauerkraut was very good. The "freshly squeezed" lemonade was also lacking. It was obviously NOT made with fresh squeezed lemons, but with lemon concentrate. Do they really believe people won't notice the difference? We went there about a month ago and I forgot to write this review... Anyway there really wasn't a lot of people in there when we went. The food was just OK. But the girl at the cash register kept taking walk in orders and payment while our food sat inside and sat at the window while I stood there waiting for her to hand it to me. The cook kept saying order up order up now he could have handed it to me but he didn't so I guess I was a little irritated about that.
