Crystal used to be my absolute favorite Korean spa. it was my haven until yesterday. After some recent stress with my husband suffering a heart attack I took some time to go and do what I do to make me feel amazing after a huge ordeal. I booked the same scrub and massage and upgraded to the more expensive milk scrub. Right from the moment I met the girl I could tell she didn't know what she was doing and I won't bore you but it was so unrelaxing and she actually left the majority of the process out. I have always tolerated the language barrier and frankly the rudness from the front desk and basically any one there as I am not Korean but it was always so awesome that I put up with the unfriendliness. I told the girl many times this treatment is not the same and not right but she just giggled. The 3 staff at the front desk didn't care either and when I asked for a refund of that particular service or even partial they said only the manager could do this. I left my number and of course no call from the manager. Sadly these places don't realize what a great customer is and how many people I have sent to them. I will find another place as there are many other great ones I just used to like crystal because of the authenticity the food and other services but when they don't value you and the service becomes rubbish then its time to call it quits. I have been here maybe 3 or four times for a massage. The most recent time was the final visit for me. I had forgotten that the price was 40 which was my mistake, being accustomed to getting them for 35 in the past it happens.. Now depending on how good the massage is, and how relaxing the atmosphere is, I will leave a good tip. If I'm not satisfied I will let you know. When my massage began, there were two women in the next room talking loudly for at least 20 minutes. They would start and stop they're conversation, but nonetheless talking. They usually have relaxing music playing also, but no music was playing. I thought if I just waited a little longer I wouldn't have to interrupt my massage. Eventually they did stop talking. The next issue was with the masseuse. She was a young woman, stronger than she looks.. only problem was I could notice a decrease in the strength of the massage towards the halfway through. I work out and do strength training so I occasionally need to have a strong massage for tense and sore muscles. Although she was getting tired I didn't mention it. I figured okay don't complain she's doing her best. At the end of the massage I had thought to myself I've had better in the past, and still decided to leave a good tip. As I'm ready to pay I completely forgot it was 40 and didn't have much extra cash on me. So I used my card to tip. I was told that the minimum tip was ten dollars and that this isn't like a restaurant where they just serve you, they work really hard. Almost exact words. A tip is gratitude. It should not be demanded. If the job was done right then it should come from the customer being so grateful for the service. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm being told what to do especially if you're service wasn't even that great. I didn't like that at all. I've never had an issue with a masseuse before but I've decided to go elsewhere now. I voiced my dissatisfaction about the two ladies talking so loudly and tipped $7. Final thoughts.. if you're looking for a strong massage go elsewhere. Also they're are plenty of other places in the area to try, probably also for less. Finally if you're not satisfied speak up. Went here for a facial with a living social deal. If you're looking for an exclusive, sit in the waiting room with a glass of champagne in your hand, this is not the spa for you. Although the rooms are partitioned off the walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling so you can hear others in the rooms next to you. It was a very busy day for them (Saturday) and the person attending me was going in and out a lot. Having said all of this I still really enjoyed my experience. She was very attentive, let me know my problem areas without judging me, and left my skin glowing afterward. She also recommended this one hydrating product which she gave to me at a discount and said I would start feeling the results in a couple of weeks- she was right! Came for a Groupon for 90 minute microdermabrasion treatment. The microdermabrasion was good. Tiffany was thorough overall and made sure I had even texture before moving on. Then the steam and cleansing. I highly appreciate that they leave the steam on for a lot longer than other places. I actually felt my pores opening and my skin getting some air. Extractions; as always hurt. But she doesn't persist on a stubborn pimple if it's not working. Thank goodness! That all passed so quickly. Immediately following extraction, a quick wipe down and moved onto application of mask. I loved this because my skin felt cool and tightened. Now onto the cons. My treatment only lasted about an hour and the only reason why it was not 50 was because she left the mask on longer. (Which is good)! But if I'm paying for a 90 minute treatment I'm expecting 90 minutes. One thing I can't stand is them reusing the same water over and over again. They use the same water to wipe off my face when I came in and then when the treatment was complete. Doesn't seem very clean to me. All in all, not bad compared to the other Chinese facial spots I've been too. But still not a fan. read more

So far I am going to give this place a star because I have been sitting here for an half an hour and apart from someone telling me someone would be with me in 5 min, I haven't even been checked in....it is nice and quiet but it feels short staffed.. After the massage I think I will keep it at one star...unfortunately I jumped each time she answered the phone while doing the facial, especially as it was left right by my ear...I have to hand it to her though she was persistent in trying to sell another session...Unfortunately not relaxing at all...I just couldnt wait for it to end...have been to many facials in flushing and this area but this was by far the most unrelaxing experience. read more

Well, had been long time i don't do my facial, this is the first time i went to crystal spa why? because near by my house and the price is reasonable, i was having a regular facial (60 min) and i really like the way the estethician ( Lisa), do the facial she is profesional. Got a groupon and came here for a facial. The spa is located next door to one of my favorite hand-pulled noodle places in queens so it was an awesome lunch followed by a nice relaxing facial (at least that's what I was hoping). Got a call at 9pm the night before to confirm I was coming. After I got there, there was a bit of confusion and the room wasn't ready. I was asked to go into one room and when the girl who led me there saw that it wasn't made up yet, I waited outside for 5 minutes. I was told I didn't have to change and so I lay on the bed for another 5 minutes before anyone came in. Meanwhile, I can hear all the chatter around me. This is fine as I am used to Flushing facials. After the girl came in, she got to work and cleaned my face and gave me a nice long massage (this part was great). Then steam and extraction. She tried to up sell me for microdermabrasion twice but I declined and she let it go. Then she took a facial mask out from fridge and cut open the bag and put the mask on it. While it is nice and cold, it was one that I can likely get myself. I prefer masks that are slightly of higher quality but I guess I only paid $17 so shouldn't complain. Finally, she put some lotions on my face after the mask was removed (~15min). All in all, the facial itself was less than 1 hour. Don't think I will go back. My bf said my face reminded him of hair salons b/c it smelled very much of chemicals. :( read more

I tried consistently for a few days until I reached out to Groupon for help and they told me to wait 3 business days for them to contact me back. Never got a call back. I bought the groupon for this place, it's decently clean and the staff is very professional. I was the last appointment of the day but I didn't feel rushed. The facial lady took her time and gave me great advice on my skin. My skin felt amazing after, very clean and hydrated. She even trimmed my brows. I would definitely come back again. Make sure to make an appointment before you go. I wouldn't say it is cheaper then most asian facial places but they do speak English so it is much easier to communicate. read more

Came here for a Classic Facial with a voucher from livingsocial with a friend and we were placed in the same room. The place is nothing fancy but if you're looking to get your pores cleaned for an affordable price, this is the place to go! However, if you're looking for a quiet relaxing spa.... you might be disappointed. When my friend and I was placed in the room we could hear very clearly of the chit chat going on in the room next door and it was continuous... but we don't mind that too much. The aestheticians are polite, gentle and patient. The extractions were one of the least ones I've experienced and I did leave with clean pores. I have acne prone skin and was offered an upgrade to an acne treatment for 20 dollars extra and I'm glad i took it. The procedure was not explained very well but I figured worth a try (the aestheticians spoke limited English!!). It started with the usual cleansing, exfoliation (non-abrasive), massage and then steaming, then extraction. Two machines was operated on my face, the first one did sounded kinda scary, it constantly had some electricity sound to it, kinda like zap zap zap zzzz buzzz? The second one was a very cool metal object, it kinda felt like ice? but without the water running all my face. Then something was placed on my face (again not much explanation, reading the pamphlet i assume this is the calming mask) and she began to briefly massage my face again. Then a minty mask (felt very very good... lol) for prob 20mins?. Then the usual finish cleanse.... moisturize and so on Although I wasn't sure what the machines were, when I left all of the painful acne have reduced in size and irritation. If you have acne, I highly recommend giving it a try, looking back at the menu I believe the original price is 58? Also for living social ppl, at the end they offer the same price voucher which will not expire :) AWESOME! lol PS. Try to bring enough cash :) they do take cards but its better to pay with cash and ull find out why update: after a week, all bumps, i repeat ALL bumps are gone! although I'm not sure if the treatment had any affect on the scars as i didn't pay enough attention to them before to notice a difference. read more

I don't know why this place got such bad reviews. I got a groupon for a classic facial. I upgraded to the Acne facial for just 10 dollars and it was great. My face looks really good. The woman took her time and was so thorough. It was REALLY painful. This is only my second facial ever and i don't know how painful it should be but I think it was worth the pain. When i upgraded to the Acne facial she said i would get it in place of a massage but she gave me the massage anyways. Excellent value for $27. I normally come in for massage and my goto girl is Tina, but the last few times I went there they said Tina is not available. The other girls I tried wasn't as good as Tina... I was looking for massage near my house. I tried to visit few places in Elmhurst. Finally, I found Crystal Spa!!! I went there several times for body massage. First time was a good, so I tried to visit once more. When I visited second time, Vicky gave a one hour body massage. It was awesome, so I decided that I keep going this spa. Today, I tried to get facial. Vicky also gave me a basic facial. This service also included little shoulder massage. It was great!!! All of the staff is kind and friendly. Just got a microdermabrasion facial done which I bought off of Groupon. This facial was nothing to rave about, I've had other facials done and as a cosmetologist who knows the industry and how facials are supposed to be done I can say they lacked attention, detail and finesse. I was mainly upset because the facial was supposed to be 90 minutes long and the lady who did my facial only gave me an hour, it was obvious she was in a rush to get home. The esthetician didn't do the head, neck, shoulder, arms and hand massage that is supposed to be done while you have the facial mask on she just walked out of the room and I could here her cleaning up around the spa. She was also a little to rough with the extractions and didn't do them correctly and there was a $4 tax fee I had to pay which is not stated in the Groupon details. Overall it wasn't bad but there's A LOT of room for improvement. read more

I went and made the appointment and the staff nor the Manager had any idea how to use the Groupon voucher and said that it was already redeemed when it wasn't. Wouldn't recommend this spa to anyone. Went here for the microdermabrasion. The technician was pleasant and the treatment was good. I agree with another reviewer that I was disappointed with the mask they used. I will not be going back due to the noise level, the girl in the next room had a male friend or client I'm not sure which but they were so loud and the guy had his phone on and he got about 6 calls in 15min. During the treatment I was offered to pay an additional $10 for an acne treatment which was well worth it. I've been too a handful of spas for facials, and this is not a posh upscale place.
