EXTREME POOR MANNER!!!! I was rushed in and out every single time I'm here. Very rude both on phone and in person. The most important thing is after 6 treatment of laser hair removal on my belly. my hair look exactly the same expect for maybe 3-4 hair fall off!!! I only have about 20 hair on my belly, they can't even get 20 hair off with 6 time of treatment. I bought a Groupon for Grace's without knowing very much about the spa. I really wish I had checked it out first because I completely wasted my time. I'll start with the one positive I can come up with- the receptionist was pleasant and worked with me and my difficult schedule. That being said I didn't go for the politeness I went for laser hair removal. Now that that is out of the way...The place is small and unprofessional, giving off the feeling that you just invaded someone's home. The woman took me to a treatment room that was so tiny and jammed up with equipment that it was hard to feel relaxed at all. When she started to do the treatment she slapped an ice pack (not the normal laser gel) on the area being lasered and applied the laser in weird patchy spots, not in a fluid scanning way like most professional laser technicians. I had bought the package for a large area and after about 2mins of her spotty lasering she claimed she was done, leaving me feeling like the chosen area was not adequately covered. Also, during my session she asked me when my Groupon expired and when I told her, she rudely informed me that since I have 5 more sessions I should really hurry up because they wouldn't do any of them past the expiration date. Well that would be fine, except laser is type of treament that has to be done with a few weeks in between. It is unsafe to do treatments too close together. Maybe they shouldn't have put a 6 month expiration date on a package of treatments that could actually take longer than 6 months... And isn't it the Groupon promise that they have to honor the value of the Groupon even after the expiration date?! I was better off before going there. They were completely unprofessional and seemed to have no understanding on how to do the treatments or anything about laser. Oh and FYI.. the spa is directly off the G train. That's great if you live in Greenpoint but if you are coming from the city or queens be aware that the Court Sq station is closed on the 7 so you can't transfer to the G. read more

This is a small quaint place. It is very homey and not so much of an overwhelming spa experience. Came for a leg and bikini wax. It was my first leg wax and it wasn't as bad as expected. The wax was a little hot and caused my reflexes to react with every stroke of wax. Avana ( sp) was very nice. She was very knowledgable about the service. The service was more than I expected. I bought the groupon deal for the full body hair removal. Though the progress is quite painful, i really appreciate the result. Grace has been really helpful and patient helping me. Sometime i got really tanned and Grace could not remove my hair but she would wax my hair for free and asked me to come back til my skin turns back to normal, she will remove my hair again. Bad manners, bad service, bad spa! I had a bad experience with them little over a month ago but didn't have time to write this review. This old Polish lady (spa owner) is a very unpleasant person. All she tries to do is just to upsell you and make you buy additional services that you didn't come there for. I was referred here that's why I came (otherwise I would never come from Manhattan to Brooklyn for a treatment) but I was very disappointed. My treatment took only 30 minutes instead of at least 45 plus she rushed thru it. Also, I decide how much to give for a tip, but I was told and reminded by them how much $$ to give them. I was shocked because I was never before reminded about a tip. No smiles, no thank you for coming, no manners! Also there is no place on the street to park because all the spots are always taken by other cars. Overall - a very bad experience. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I have used living social coupons in other salon all though I booked my appointment for days before the coupon expire, they will give me an appointment weeks past the coupon expiration day. I don't even know where to start with this place. I purchased a Groupon for 6 sessions of laser hair removal. The owner was very nice upfront with setting me up for my appointments, etc. I was very nervous, but she made a point to tell me to be quiet and not make noise because she had other clients present. Im sorry, maybe I shouldve screamed louder so that those other clients could have got out of dodge! Anyway, I dismissed that as a minor glitch in customer service. What Im really writing about is the fact that during Session 5, I was severly burned by the laser!! It was painful while I was there, and she applied a cold pack and some cream, but when I woke up the next morning, my bikini area was literally black and I was in unbearable pain. This was a Friday. On Monday morning I called Grace, and her response was, "why didnt you call me on Friday? You were fine when you left here." So apparently I charred my own bikini line.. After I talked some sense into her and told her she should be focusing on the fact that she burned me, not on how long it took me to call her and she simply told me not to worry and that in a couple of weeks I would be fine. Well, that was two months ago and I still have scars and cannot wear a bathing suit. She never even called me to follow up, nor to schedule my last appointment (which I would NOT attend, anyway). I'm so upset that I didnt research her spa before I went there. I trusted that Groupon only deals with reputable establishments, but I've since learned that this is not the case. this is my first and hopefully last yelp review. very very painful treatments for laser hair removal. the machine was outdated (she handed me ice packs!), but i had nothing to gage it on so i assumed that was normal. when it came to my 6th appointment, i never received a call back. I started going to someone else with a very up-to-date machine (has cooling within the unit) and it was a DREAM. It was my most personal areas and I felt very little pain with exceptional results. 5 visits with Grace maybe removed about a 4th of my hair. 2 visits at this new place and most of my hair is gone. As I've mentioned, i'm not a yelp person but this was a painful and UNNECESSARY thing that I went through. I just hope to stop someone before they make the same mistake. My advice before you book a laser treatment with anyone is to call and ask which machine they have. Research it first, save yourself a world of hurt. literally. read more

I purchased 6 treatments for brazilian bikini laser removal (even though I only received 5 after short notice rescheduling) 1. My first treatment consisted of being zapped in 3 random spots to "test" how my skin reacted to different laser strengths before being rushed out of the door... 2. The rest of my treatments were mediocre. She didn't seem to have any method rather than picking a random spot and zapping it. No up and down scanning or anything that leads to even removal. 3. By my last visit, probably realizing that I had only lost a bit of hair in a very patchy fashion, Grace turned the machine up and finally made an attempt to cover the whole area. Unfortunately, even after reminding her on every visit that I didn't want the ENTIRE area lasered, she lasered the whole thing! Pretty disappointed. read more

Graces day spa is the best. Her and her staff is so polite. The spa has a lot of love and care and I feel it every time I walk in there. The fragrance and atmosphere always make me feel I'm on vacation. I know I am going to be treated royally. Grace always takes her time with me. Sometimes I may have to wait an extra 5 minutes because her clients are asking her lots of questions and she answers each and everyone. I don't mind because I know I will receive the best care also. When a coupon expires, in any store I use it before the date or lose it. Grace's diplomas are posted all over the front offices. I'm not sure why Yelp filtered my review, but here we go again. I have been going to Graces Day Spa for over 10 years now and have to honestly say that I've never had a bad experience. In fact, Grace has healed my problematic skin condition. It did take some time before she came up with the right treatment for me, but I couldn't be happier because I finally could show my face to the world. You cannot put a price on confidence, and it is thanks to her that I regained mine. I've been going to Grace not only for facials and lasers, but also wax, mani/pedi, and an endermologie massage a few times. I've been happy with all of the services I've gotten at her SPA. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is either struggling with a problematic skin condition, or just someone looking for a great facial or wants to be pampered. Grace's was my first spa visit. I bought a leg and bikini wax deal on living social and of course waited until the last minute. When I called they said they were overwhelmed by all of us procrastinators, but they put me on a waiting list. Low and behold they squeezed me in. They were very nice explaining what they were doing as they went a long and only pushing the other services a little bit. My only qualm is the bikini part of the wax, it'd have to be a pretty matronly bikini for that wax to have been effective, but the leg wax was great. read more

I think this may be the place to go for facials- but for laser- STAY AWAY. The first appointment for laser on my face, she was really sweet and gave me a complimentary facial treatment. This was during the time frame when groupon asks how the experience was. Of course I wrote that it was a great experience. Then it went downhill. She told me to let my hair grow so that she can see the growth and what needs to be lasered. I found out that when you do this, you just burn the hair and not the follicle. Of course I wasn't losing any hairs. One time she zapped me twice and said we were done. She also spoke about me in Polish to another customer without realizing that I speak a language very similar to Polish and was able to understand her. She told me after the 6 treatments that I would need more treatments and that she would give me a discount. I never returned. I thought I just wasn't a good candidate for laser after this experience, but I have since gone to another place and 70% of my hair was gone after ONE TREATMENT and has not come back. This new place told me to shave completely so that the energy of the laser goes into the follicle and not the hair. They also use an excellent YAG laser. The one she uses is not that great either after doing some research. To conclude- for facials she knows her stuff (although she can be very gruff) -don't go there for laser. read more
