This review is long overdue. My husband and I have been bringing all of our cars here for a few years now. We find them to be honest and their prices are very fair. As an example, I recently took my BMW to the dealer for an airbag recall. They told me that I had an oil leak and that it would be just shy of $1,000 to have the oil filter housing gasket changed. Knowing that the dealer overcharges for any work, we took it to South Bay Autohaus, as we usually do. They changed the gasket and did a complete air conditioning service since the air wasn't running as cold as I wanted. Their price was much less than what the dealer quoted, and included the air conditioning service. If you're looking for an honest mechanic who does quality work at fair prices on your German or exotic car, I'd highly recommend them. read more

Where do I even start? This place has worked on basically every car I've ever owned. They have been nothing but outstanding. The owner Qais makes it his priority to make it right for the customers. And will not stop at nothing to make sure your car problems are fixed in a timely manner. Cars they've worked on for me are as follows. Supercharged bmw 330i completely custom. Single turbo bmw 335i completely custom. Maserati M128GT BMW 330cic ZHP BMW E60 M5 With that said. Not only can this place do excellent work on unmodified cars. They aren't afraid to work on your highly prized modified luxury or exotic vehicle. Every time I've been here the waiting area is clean. I've peaked in the back and the back is clean. This shop is the real deal and has been in business for well over 15 years. People come in and people go out all day long. Car after car completed with excellent service and precise attention to detail. SO. If you have a luxury or exotic vehicle I highly recommend this shop. Not only will you be happy with the work that was done. The prices are more than reasonable. One thing to note. This place can be selective on taking business. Now don't take this the wrong way. They choose the jobs they have the time for. I had to wait a few months before they had the time to work on my single turbo fully custom 335. And it was totally understandable. I visited south bay autohouse as advised by some friends. Quais, hope to have spelled the name right,called me back after I left a voice-mail and asked a few questions about the issue I was having, which was diagnosed by another shop. During the call Quais shared his experience with the engine and brand. I felt in good hands and appreciated his advice. I ended up fixing the car on my own as it was not drivable. Quais looked at my car afterwards to review the work done and if there was any other issue to solve. I made the mistake of buying a BMW 335i and had to have the water pump replaced about 2 weeks after the warranty expired. so instead of paying a stupid amount at the dealership, I had it serviced here and they fixed the problem quickly and for a reasonable price. Here's the best part - 6 years later, BMW loses a lawsuit and has to reimburse 335 owners for any waterpump repairs. I call SB Autohaus and ask if there's any chance they still have the invoice. They say "no, not electronically, but I can go into the office and pull out the paper version". So Lucia goes into the office on a Sunday (she's working from home due to Covid) and scans the invoice from 6 yrs prior and emails it to me!!! She could have easily said "nope, sorry, we don't" and saved herself so much work. But she was nice enough to do it to help me out. I'll never buy a 335 again, but I will definitely be a lifelong customer of SB Autohaus! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! My german car is no longer under warranty and I needed to find a place in the SB that wouldn't take me to the bank. I was referred here by a friend who used to work with Qais when he was still at the dealership. I have to say from front office to the mechanics and everything in between, the service is top-notch. Elizabeth runs the front office and she is always super-friendly and helpful. The guys do an awesome job explaining what the issues might be and making recommendations. There is never any pressure to do anything that you don't want done. They also do an amazing job of shopping around your parts to see if they can find something cheaper. I had an issue with my pack window recently and took the car in for a quote. While they knew they'd need a couple of days to look for a good part, Qais and his brother "temporarily" fixed the window so that I didn't have to drive around with it down. All for no charge. I hate that I just moved from CA and that I don't have one of them here with me in TX. While my car is still in CA, I look forward to having them work on any other items that need to be taken care of. read more

Friendly staff, however they sent my car to a tire shop a few doors down for a balance/alignment issue. Turns out the wheel was bent, and the tire shop put a few weights over the bend instead of notifying me of the issue. Problem persisted until I took it to the actual dealer and discovered the issue. So hear this and hear it clear this guy is a dishonest mechanic I'm selling my car and a Prospective buyer asked me to take it to this guy to get the car inspected although the car has been in my family for years the car did not have any leaks not since we got it especially because it's been parked in my driveway and there's no leaks from the car we dropped it off there was no leaks, and now when I picked it up the car has a motor oil leak which he claims it was there and when I confronted him and told him that car did not leak before he acted defensive and said it was there now And I have to fix what he did that wasn't there before and to top that I have to come out of pocket because of his sabotage, you may wonder why I won't go after him to fix it ? Because he is not honest mechanic let along person!!!! They have gone above and beyond to help me with my Aston Martin. He was able to get it fixed, when even the actual dealer couldn't! In fact he corrected the dealers mistake that caused my car to go the shop in the first place. His customer service is outstanding and his prices are more than fair! If I ever need anything repaired or replaced on my Aston Martin again, more likely when, you better believe he will be the first person I call. I've taken my car here for service for the past few years and they are amazing! Qais is great, and really trustworthy. They never try to oversell you on anything, just straight forward about any necessary repairs. I had an indicator light come on today (engine failure?!), and they said to bring it on it. On my way, a second light came on and I was really concerned. But they had someone jump in right away and take a look, and it turned out to be a relatively minor issue, so they got it squared away and sent me on my way. I hope you read this before having done work here. I took my 530i to have the AC checked out as it appeared to have a leak. I left the car there overnight for their "leak test". They said there was no lead, so that the problem was some shaffer (dont know how to spell it) valve was bad. SO they "fixed it and charged me $300. I go find out that those valves only cost like $5 bucks each, soI was charged $290 for "labor" and the ac refill. 6 weeks later, the ac was not blowing cold air anymore, I take it to them and they say "oh it looks like there is a leak in there, but a tiny tiny leak. That they were really busy to take a look at it, that they could refill it and to bring it back later." Went back 6 weeks later, same thing. They told me that they were toooo busy, that they can refill the ac again. This happened like 4 times. So i finally called them yesterday and told them I need this fixed and not refilled. He said ok, that he can squeeze me in there in 2 weeks. I said ok, but was I going to have to pay since I was already charged $300 for nothing. And that jerk (name is Kive, or kev, something like that) in a very rude and condescending tone says well yeah. We have to do the work again. I said yeah, but I paid you guys $300 for what then, you guys never fixed the problem. He then rudely and shockingly rub me off and mumbled something like .... wants me to fix it for free and HANGS UP one me. Wow, horrible face of business. The guys should have spent 2 minutes and had a polite discussion and I would have probably still gone in and paid to have the work done. This is the worst encounter I have had with a business in years, as that is why I felt compelled to share my story with fellow Yelpers who want some feedback on a business before they go and send their hard earned money. read more

Did a PPI on my 911 they did a horrible job ! Owner missed a 500 part that was missing . Offered to pay for the part and then disappeared . Dishonest ! Do you use these guys ! I paid for a PPI that they did not even check certain things ! Stay away! read more

I took my Porsche Boxter Spyder into SBA for routine service that included a 10 year inspection and other work. When I received the bill, I was surprised that the total amount was not the estimate that I had understood. When I asked the owner, Kice, about the discrepancy, he tried to explain what the charges were for, but the amount still seemed high to me. After some discussion, Kice offered me a revised and fair credit that I consider a very fair resolution. I believe that SBA does excellent work and this consideration by the owner reinforces my belief that besides the superb technicians, the owner is ethical and has integrity. read more

Five years ago I bought a private sale C230 Mercedes. After a month or so, the engine didn't sound right to me. Qais looked it over and said it would be costly to find the problem....drive it till it stops. Well, it stopped late last year...no power, all kinds of internal problems. Qais found a C300 engine with half the mileage and 3 years newer. I've got a brand new car....I'm just lovin' it. Kudos to Qais and Nick for a great job. BTW, an annoying steering noise developed. I have known the owner, Qais, for a pretty long time. He once worked at a Lotus dealership years ago. I first went to him there because of how highly recommended he was on Lotus forums. I heard that he was very trustworthy, he is very honest, and most of all, his knowledge of cars in general is incredible. He then moved on from there and started this place up, SouthBay Autohaus and so I followed him there with my Lotus. I live in San Bernardino and I drive over an hour to make sure my Lotus is in good hands with him. Even if he started a business in San Diego, I'd still drive there. He has carried that same honesty, great prices, and impressive knowledge with him to his team at SouthBay. I can't say enough great things about Qais and his business. Ralph by the way is about as friendly as someone can be. He is thorough with following-up and knows how to get what you need very quickly. In the future I plan on trading my Lotus in for a Ferrari or Aston Martin, and of course I will continue to come here for any issues, questions, you name it. If you own an German import, particularly BMW, this specialist auto shop is great. After purchasing a used 95 BMW M3 with nearly 150K on the clock, I didn't want to subject myself to the BS of dealing with the official BMW dealer network. This shop, among a couple others in the area came highly recommended by fellow owners on online forums. The owner and his wife offer terrific service with a smile, very friendly and open to answering all your car related questions, no matter how silly or stupid they may seem. While their work isn't the cheapest, when it comes to proper automotive work, I think you get what you pay for, and in this case, it's quality work done by knowledgable technicians who will give you their honest opinion rather than try to milk you for every $$ in your wallet. Plus my most recent visit they even offered me a loaner car upon special request when it turned out I would have to leave the car for most of the day. Now this is service! If you live anywhere in LA county, especially on the westside and need to get your BMW, Porsche, M-B, Aston or Range Rover serviced, this is a great place to go! read more
