On this particular test, I supposedly scored a 5.9 in lab. This is a drop of 2.3. That means, if I were to believe what Immunotek told me, these induction machines are only 40-50 percent accurate... a coin toss. I didn't say a word. The second time I was prepared. I went to donate before a blood test for impending surgery. I was told I again failed with a 5.9... the doctor requesting the test told me I was fine. I drove to Octapharma and donated the same day. Interestingly, my two deferrals with Immunotek occurred after bad sticks on bonus days. I have since heard this same story over and over. I am not anti-Immunotek... just the one in West Palm Beach, Florida.

I had previously been a donor with American Red Cross and wanted to donate whole blood when I was in Florida for three months. I went to a Big Red Bus in a Publix parking lot and had a pleasant experience to donate whole blood. I even got a T-shirt and a gift card for my donation. I not only felt good about donating blood, but I got some pleasure out of it afterwards. Eventually, I was told about donating platelets instead of whole blood and switched over to do that because I could do that 24 times a year instead of only six times a year. Also platelet donations can often benefit three patients with one donation That brought me to the Lantana donation center on Hypoluxo. In about 2010 I started donating platelets at the Lantana center. I have always found it to be pleasant and easy to do. I get a lot of satisfaction from contributing something to patients who need platelets most recently. Marta has been the person in charge of my donation and she has a great positive attitude and is very professional and efficient. Over the years, I have donated the equivalent of 37 gallons of blood products and it really is very easy and pleasant.

While reaching for the gauze she pulled my arm causing massive bleeding and swelling. Just look at the pics and think twice about going there. Try CSL instead. Everything that was ever on that floor went onto my bleeding arm. Manager said we are sorry and will train the staff better. Really you think that is enough?

This is a two person team and they do everything from greeting to the actual blood collection. I've been donating at this location for 1-2 years. As a first time visitor to this location, I had a few questions, but her responses were short, dismissive, and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. At one point, I overheard her complaining under her breath that customers kept coming in whenever she was trying to take a break. That comment, combined with her overall demeanor, made me feel unwelcome. She also spoke to me in a condescending tone, as though she were addressing a child rather than a customer. Customer service sets the tone for any business, and unfortunately, this interaction left a very negative impression. I hope management addresses these concerns so future customers are treated with more professionalism and respect.
