Staff needs more training on how to insert the needle, (they blame your arm/veins, instead of their lack of knowledge, without proper insertion it can be very painful, and you are left with a bruised arm, I have had to wait weeks before I am allowed to give again. You want to give plasma and get out, especially after working a long day yourself. In the past I have referred several people, and they have said the same thing, lack of experience and when you complain to the Office Manager, from what I see, nothing positive is being done about it, I will not give to this location again.

On this particular test, I supposedly scored a 5.9 in lab. This is a drop of 2.3. That means, if I were to believe what Immunotek told me, these induction machines are only 40-50 percent accurate... a coin toss. I didn't say a word. The second time I was prepared. I went to donate before a blood test for impending surgery. I was told I again failed with a 5.9... the doctor requesting the test told me I was fine. I drove to Octapharma and donated the same day. Interestingly, my two deferrals with Immunotek occurred after bad sticks on bonus days. I have since heard this same story over and over. I am not anti-Immunotek... just the one in West Palm Beach, Florida.

I was greeted by the recruiter, the ante was up to two tickets, I questioned the snacks. Cookies?, yes, the deal was closed. The phlebotomists greeted me, professionally took care of paper work, then the blood letting commenced. Sean was great, that's important, a quick stick. It went well. A quick note about the bus, the inside is well aportioned....nah, go in give blood and find out for yourself. Give blood, it is a life saver.

This is a two person team and they do everything from greeting to the actual blood collection. I've been donating at this location for 1-2 years. First and foremost, the place is always spotless! The employees do a good job at keeping the place clean and sanitary. The bathrooms are always immaculate-I've never had a bad experience with the ladies room. Nothing worse then a filthy bathroom in a medical facility so that's a big one for me. Additionally, I love that they go above and beyond to decorate for holidays and season changes, especially in Florida where season change is often overlooked. It makes the place so welcoming! Next: the machines: they are all very well kept, clean and well maintained. I've seen some questionable machines in my donating days. Never have to worry here. Lastly and most importantly.... The staff!!! Every single staff member that works screening and the floor are just incredible. I imagine the staff that works behind the scenes are just as good though because the team work I've witnessed on the floor shows strength in working together and appears to be natural for everyone. Everyone makes you feel so comfortable and they make the time pass by so fast, making you laugh and just being entertaining overall. They get to know you on a first name basis and remember you when you come back. It's funny because some of them say they got the job because they liked the place so much... and I can see why. Coming here after work is my time to kick back and have a fun but relaxing time. I can't name all of the staff by name but I'd like to point out a couple of the staff that have been here for a bit and have personally been my donor assistant. Tyrone, he's so charismatic and funny. He's got this charming smile that can brighten anyones day. Alrick has a confidence and knowledge that will instill confidence in anyone who is new and nervous. You can immediately tell he is one of those "top of the class" type of students and the go to for those with less experience. Barbara: she has the sweetest heart! You can tell she is passionate about what she does and sincerely wants to make each donor comfortable, she expressed to me that she doesn't want anyone to feel any type discomfort because it hurts her feelings. Aneesah, she is such a bright young lady. She has the sweetest heart and is so friendly and always remembers everything you talk about. Dominique, the nurse that takes all the new donors: she is so genuine. Literally she reminds me of myself a little bit. She is friendly, honest, caring and very informative. I've heard so many wonderful things about her from the other staff as well, that she always jumps in anytime she can to help and makes her way by to check up on everyone any chance she gets. Jessica- she just does her thing. She's always laser focused and on top of everything. She's friendly and makes good conversation as well. I cannot forget to mention Leon! Leon is my buddy! He is in Paramedic school and was a fire fighter (which I was too) so we have a lot in common - we are ALWAYS catching up when I catch him in the screening booth or on the floor. That guy has a lot of ambition and is so motivated! He is also very funny and I look forward to seeing him every time I go! When he's working during my donation it's like the cherry on top. Want a good laugh? Go in and ask for the tall, dark and handsome guy named Leon!!!! There are so many other great employees that I unfortunately don't know their names- but they are all super amazing and if you want to save lives and have a relaxing hour to just chill out with some cool people- this is your spot!!!
