The price I was quoted was over 12k. I felt the electrician on my job, Jason S. was very high pressure in his tactics and told me I needed to decide that day, or lose potential discounts. I had also been without a kitchen for over 30 days, so I agreed to the work. The next day Jason and an apprentice come out to start the job. They take one whole day to remove and replace the new panel, no problem. Here is where it goes downhill. On the second day of work, Jason and another apprentice came out and instead of prioritizing the circuit I hired him for, they start installing the hardwired smoke detectors Dekalb county allegedly requires. This took all day! By about 4 pm, I asked if he was going to get the outlet done so I could use my dishwasher and he replied "I guess if I stay here all night". I said I guess thats what you got to do then, and they were here til nearly 8 pm. Then he made several other unprofessional comments about staying late. Jason never came back to my job. A new Electrician came out on Monday, Jason said he had an emergency job. The part where they earned this rating comes when I found out my pool motor circuit was not working on the new GFCI circuit. I explained to them it originally was on a two pole circuit and now they had it on two single poles. It was drawing 240v and they had the model number and should have researched the wiring on their own as professionals. Rather than listen to me, I had to wait all day for the new electrician (with Jason on the phone) come up with a new quote to fix which included trenching up and re-wiring my entire pool, ANOTHER 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS! I was livid. I started looking into this and it turns out I was right, it just needed a 2 pole GFCI. I talked to the second electrician the next day and told him I want to talk to a supervisor or manager. I got a call later in the day from Jeffrey who was going to look into it and get back to me the same day. He did not. He did call me the next morning and agreed to send one of his best guys out to install a 2 pole and see if that solves the problem. Well guess what, it did! And, I didn't have to pay another 5K. I expected to hear back from Jeffrey again to ensure the job was to my satisfaction as you should on a service recovery. I did not. I feel lied to, and that I was robbed and almost taken needlessly for thousands more, had I not done my research which should not be necessary as a layperson. I understand from TE employees the Electricians control the cost, and they get a commission from it. Unfortunately, I paid for an electricians summer vacation because I trusted him. He apologized for the misdiagnosis and explained that the replacement parts they use are commercial-grade and higher quality than the lower-cost versions I had found online, which helped me better understand the pricing. While I still wish the original issue had been correctly identified, I appreciated that he took the time to listen to my concerns, explain the charges, and offer a partial refund to make things right. Tom Bunch has been my go-to HVAC company for years. They installed my furnace in 2019 and have done…read moreA/C tune-ups over the years. All that came to crashing halt yesterday. My last A/C tune-up was quite a while ago (thanks COVID) . During their last A/C visit Tom Bunch personnel were professional, used a device to accept credit card payment, and left me feeling secure and well taken care of. Little did I know, but apparently, Tom Bunch, Inc. in ATL is "now under different management" (although Tom also "operates from Macon.") The rusted truck that showed up from Tom Bunch, Inc. yesterday to do an A/C tuneup should have been my first clue. The (subcontracted) technicians spent 20 mins. looking at my A/C, checking compression, and then told me I could call in my credit card # to pay my bill. But did they do anything but check the compression? Clean the coils, other? The technicians struggled to communicate in English, so I will never know. (I called the "head Tom Bunch office" in Lawrenceville and the woman has not called me back yet with an answer as to what the service actually was.) Billing was even worse. Today, they emailed my bill demanding payment for my "seasonal tuneup" (done yesterday) that was due "within 48 hours of work completion"--with a "10% late fee on unpaid invoices after 48 hours." Tom Bunch, Inc. has no payment portal, and when I first called Billing, "Chaz" told me I needed to give them a credit card over the phone or send a check (I don't give out my credit card # over the phone and wonder if they know that a check mailed via the USPS will take about 1.5 weeks to get to them). The billing expert then told me I could pay via PayPal. Hunh? She did not provide the PayPal information. I will try to get it. I will have to warn my elderly neighbor--who recommended Tom Bunch, Inc. to me--about the changes. Too stressful.
