I've never done self storage before, so really had no idea what to expect. Although I did have something in mind (especially since this property falls under "affordable") - a small and drab sales office, dark corridors and rusty locks and hinges squeaking menacingly. Well, I could not have been more wrong! From my first phone call to packing boxes into our unit, Cube Smart (Affordable Self Storage) on Bouton has been great. I swung by to check the place out beforehand and the staff was totally on top of things. I even got a guided tour in their groovy little utility vehicle! The office is immaculate and modern, the grounds are well-maintained and the buildings are well-lit and spotless. The security seems top-notch as well. Easy access to units - getting our stuff in and out of our second floor unit was pretty effortless between the elevator and available dollies. The pricing, compared to other self-storage properties, is on the low end of the spectrum - special deals and rates to boot. But worth every penny for sure! I'll definitely be recommending this business to family and friends. read more

I would rate zero if I could. Absolute cr@p and customer service is non existent. After being a customer on auto pay for 5 years they charge some arbitrary late fee after failing to update the expiration date on the credit card. Called the day after the late fee was applied and they refused to reverse the charge despite on time payments with the same card for 5 years. Additionally, Rates go up about 10% every 6 months and the store manager is an absolute terror. IYKYK. Don't fall for the initial low prices cause they balloon up the charge very rapidly. Might as well spend the money with a business that cares about their customers! Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Cubesmart Wilton, AVOID AT ALL COST! This facility is in a flood zone and no one tells you this! Recently it was badly flooded, the entire first floor EVERYTHING was ruined and it has been weeks of dumpsters filled with ruined items! I had a unit on the second floor and was looking for more space and they tried to sell me a first floor WHEN IT HAD JUST FLOODED with NO mention of that at all! I only found out when I actually went there and saw the wet debris everywhere! The place now smells of mold and mildew which is not healthy. They used to have 2 staff there at regular hours and got rid of them, there is NO customer service and the rent goes up every 6 months for this horrible, untrustworthy, unsafe facility. I am moving everything as soon as I can to a reputable facility down the street that DOES NOT FLOOD. Don't be taken in by Cubesmart's offers of discounts to rent, you will end up paying MUCH, MUCH more. read more

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you store with CubeSmart. I left a home full of furniture with them for a year. When it was time to move it into my new house, I discovered water had entered the unit, most likely from a rain event. Mold and rust was over everything. All of our mattresses were bloated to the point it took 4 guys to lift them. Thousands of dollars in damage was done and most everything had to be thrown away. I had paid for insurance through CubeSmart but they DENIED my claim as they decided it was a flood event and there was a no flood damage clause buried deep in the fine print. I contacted corporate headquarters in PA and they said there was nothing they could do. It's been a very frustrating and costly lesson and I hope anyone who reads this will find another, more reliable facility if you want your items protected. UPDATE 8/29/22. See response from a concerned CubeSmart below. I politely contacted them as requested and a weeks later no response. I believe it's just a robo response. read more

I would not recommend cubesmart in Norwalk on Bouton street to anyone. I was there since 2020 and just recently took everything out of there due to prices going up every six months, also my lock was tampered with and I couldn't use my key to get in, they said it was due to having a new roof put in. needless to say no phone call telling me this, so they had to cut the lock off so i could get my belongings. There are also other problems there which I can't mention on here. No refund back to me for the lock I bought or the extra eight days left on the unit. I am in a much cleaner place where you could eat off there floors if need be and the staff is so pleasant and willing to help any way they can , also affordable . BEWARE ???? read more

Two lifts not working when we visited our two inside units. Asked if they would be fixed when we brought the moving trucks in two weeks later. The woman in charge that day said their repair guy had just been there and either couldn't fix it, or didn't notice that two lifts weren't working. When pushed for information she shared with me that she didn't have authority to call the repair guy and that he is based out of NJ! She suggested I call her manager the next day. Can't get a straight answer as to whether they'll be able to fix them this week. Place is dirty, carts don't work, and they don't give their employees any power or motivation to use their brains and help the customer. read more

A total money pit since change of ownership. Over 10 years the rates have doubled. They slap you with a $100+ "lien fee" if your credit card expires and the autopayment doesn't work, making you 5 days late. Half the elevators near my unit are out of order. The previous owners had dumpsters you could use, now they are for "management only". They ask you to insure YOUR property (ie the stuff you have stored in the units), but to make them the assignee for any loss. If you want to throw a lot of money away, sign right up. read more

***ZERO STARS**** HORRIBLE attitude and service. We moved in to the unit when it was under much friendlier ownership; it was smooth sailing until this facility was purchased by CubeSmart and since then, it has been an ongoing headache. We have been unable to get access to online account management (has never worked), unable to set up autopay (again, website doesn't work), unable to pay online, unable to reach anyone to pay by phone (leave messages, they never call back), unable to update account information (insist that their "policy" is that we must physically come into the office to do so), and just intent upon arguing. We live on the other side of the country, so physically coming into their office is simply not feasible. It is rare to encounter the level of rudeness and attitude that I experienced today from these people. I have now referred this to the corporate office to attempt to resolve the situation, which seems a ridiculous step to have to take for a storage unit, but certainly preferable to dealing with the location staff. We'll be moving of here just as soon as we can coordinate it. Take your business elsewhere, Yelpers. read more

Vanessa Braxton, the Norwalk CubeSmart manager, is very helpful, very pleasant to deal with. I was very gratified with the level of service I received after it became apparent the unit I originally reserved would not be big enough for my needs. Vanessa was quickly able to transfer my booking to a larger unit, offered to also transfer the on-line booking promotion to the new unit, and saved me a considerable sum. The CubeSmart units aren't the fanciest of storage units but are climate controlled and are more reasonably priced than others I investigated. Customer service was amazing! The store manager (can't remember her name) treated me like family. Gave me a tour, explained pricing and helpers me choose the best one. Came back the next day to get the complimentary truck to move my stuff and we didn't have bungee cords. So the manager actually lent us something to tie down the furniture - for free. Super sweet! In my opinion, this specific facility was managed unprofessionally and incompetently. What was supposed to be a convenient storage option to make my life easier, turned out to be an arduous and time consuming disaster. Also, I stored my belongings in this facility for a number of years, so this was not a one-time occurrence nor limited scope of experience. To begin, their online payment processing system failed to auto bill my account, so I had to sign in every month to pay the rental charge. Despite multiple phone calls and emails, this was never resolved, and they stopped responding to my requests, totally ignoring the issue. Second, after my account went into arrears not noticing the auto bill was malfunctioning, the local management team insisted that I travel IN PERSON from out of town during the height of the deadly Covid pandemic to make the past due payment, including steep penalty charges. It took multiple correspondences with the regional supervisor, who finally intervened, allowing me to make a payment over the phone, avoiding any risky travel or in person contact. Third, the facility arbitrarily increased my rent during the middle of the Covid pandemic. That is a commercial decision, but you would think they would try to cut their customers a break during the Covid pandemic, not take advantage of a distressing situation, assuming most people would rather pay the increase versus risk the health consequences of relocating. Finally, I notified the facility via email that I would be moving out by a specific date (I reached my limit, and was completely fed up), to which they never responded. Yet, they still attempted to charge me an additional month of rent, having already received sufficient prior notice that I would be vacating their facility. Unbelievable. To be clear, this is not an indictment of Cubesmart generally, but rather a specific rental location, and it only reflects my personal experience. If I could rate them any lower, I would. read more

This place is great! Brenda was so incredibly helpful- I had movers and a big truck, it was a rainy day, and the space I rented turned out to be too small! Brenda jumped in immediately, changed my reservation, and even went so far as to call the senior manager when the online system wasn't working. She stayed late that night to ensure that I had the right space and could unload with no problem.
