When I reached out to David at HomeLife Furnishing he said the manufacture had a one year warranty on the sectional but that only the pieces of the couch that were peeling would be replaced. At that time I had requested to return the couch because I figured the peeling would continue but David said that couldn't be done. So instead, 2 pieces of the sectional were replaced. Fast forward, we have had the sectional for 1 year and 3 months and it is still peeling. The sofa/love seat we purchased is the same material as the sectional but I did not have the same issue. The sofa/love seat gets plenty of traction but so far I haven't seen any sort of cracking or peeling. After spending almost $7K in the store I am really disappointed in the quality and the lack of customer service to address the sectional. I definitely understand quality has certainly changed throughout the years and nothing lasts forever, but I shouldn't have to replace my sectional after only having it for a year! $1600 plus down the drain.

After asking me my preference of the kind of mattress, they let me try different mattresses. And then they told me one kind of firm mattress was on sale. I decided to try that one as well. They didn't have it on display but they moved it out of the warehouse to let me try it. Choosing a bed frame is not as easy as picking a mattress. There are huge selections of queen size bed frames. They even showed me different catalogs where I can order from. I liked several beds and couldn't make up my mind right there. They told me to take my time. I told them I would go back home and think about it. No pushing sale at that point which made me feel comfortable. I don't like pushy salesperson. I communicated with them days after. I was still trying to decide among several beds. They helped me by letting me know which bed is more expensive, which bed has higher quality. With their help, I bought one white nice looking wooden bed frame. Delivery service was great! They called me the day before to confirm the delivery time window from 1000-1400. The delivery person called me 15 minutes before he arrived. Once they arrived, they did it fast. With the mattress, they even removed the extra brown wrapping outside the house before I even asked them to. Great service! I strongly recommend this store.

They also double as a U-Haul facility, where you can pick up and drop off U-Haul trucks of varying sizes right there off the freeway in Midtown. Pretty decent location. By the way, delivery in town is normally $50 and they have financing options available if you have poor or no credit.

One key detail to this whole saga is that this sectional my spouse & I agreed on was on the floor Sunday, but was gone by Thursday when I went in to purchase it. Since it was the only couch we really agreed on, I decided to go ahead & special order it, which took about two weeks to arrive to our house. I had no problem placing a special order (which, on the invoice, states in the fine print that there are no refunds on special orders. However, I was told there was a 5-year warranty. In retrospect, I should have clarified with the salesman I spoke to what all is included in the warranty.). I bought this sectional August 2023 and within 3-4 months, around Thanksgiving 2023, one of the power sectionals stopped working & the handle to the manually reclining seat broke. Each seat on the sectional hooks into its neighboring seat with bolts. The bolts kept coming apart when we would sit down on the couch with slightly more force than normal. After several phone calls back & forth, we were able to schedule a date for someone to come take a look at the issues we were having. One of the men who delivered & assembled the sectional in August came by, and was friendly & helpful. Home Life ordered the parts we needed & the couch was better by January 2024. I say "better" because it was still not 100%, mostly due to the bolts coming apart over & over again, but we lived with it. It's now August 2024, and earlier this week, the handle to the manual reclining seat broke again, but this time is quite literally coming apart. One of the wires from inside the handle was sticking out between the cracks of the seats, cutting my thigh when I was wearing shorts & sat down on the couch next to my son. I'm thankful it cut me, not him! I called & asked to speak to customer service today, knowing I would not get a full refund since my sectional was a special order. The woman I spoke to was very friendly, but told me there's nothing they can do aside from scheduling a handyman to come out & take a look at it. I explained to her the couch is almost unusable at this point, and while I understand it's not her fault or Home Life's fault, the manufacturer should know they make crappy furniture. She apologized, told me a refund is not an option, and asked if I wanted to move forward scheduling someone to come out & take a look at it. I declined, and told her we would be looking elsewhere for a new couch. I am giving 2 stars for customer service, but the quality of this furniture is unacceptable. I am now out $1900 and am on the hunt for a new couch that won't hurt my family. It's a shame there isn't a better policy for special orders.

I had to get some mats cut to fit some frames that I brought in. The smaller one was printed in…read moresome odd dimensions; I got a 10x13 frame and had the mat cut down to size. At first I wanted the mat to be the same size around all edges, but Ron expressed his concern for cutting off the artwork. After I looked around the shop a little, I agreed that a mat cut with the tops and bottoms not being the same size as the sides would be fine. He crunched some numbers and gave me a receipt for the smaller one, and an estimate for the larger one if he had to grab a new mat for it. One of the frames I had brought in came with a precut mat for some previous artwork in the frame. To cut down on costs, he offered to cut the mat to fit first. That didn't work, mostly because the cuts were too tight, and the previous artwork had some sticky tape left around the borders. Ron called to make sure I was okay with him moving ahead with cutting another mat for it. When I came in to pick them up, not only had he repositioned the mounting hardware on the smaller one so it would hang in portrait orientation, but he had also finished the back side of the bigger one, complete with protective paper and hanging wire. He also helped carry the bigger one out to my trunk on a rainy day. Overall, really satisfied, highly recommend, and I'm glad I didn't go to Michael's instead haha.

Deb had the fabric sample books set out for us and allowed us to take them home to find ones we liked. We saw four patterns we liked and emailed her back to get pricing. We made our selection. We soon heard back that Deb was having trouble finding a supplier for the fabric. A bit later she contacted us again to say that our choice, as well as two of the others, was no longer available, so we went with the fourth choice. Then there was a delay in the manufacturer shipping the fabric. Once it arrived we had Deb and her crew sew the ends to match the original fabric pattern to fit into the chair frames. Deb drove the fabric out to Chico to rush the sewing since it had been almost two months since we had placed the order. Apparently there isn't much demand to recover sling chairs. I guess most people just replace them. This must have been very frustrating for Deb and Davis Upholstery. We are now happy that the chairs are useful again.
