The only reason why I would even come to Staples is because Amazon is cutting down on using UPS for returns and there were no other return points offered that are closer. Every UPS store I dealt with in the past for Amazon returns seemed to have the process down: scan the code, package if need to, put some tape, issue receipt. Easy in and out with minimal wait for the most part. As soon as I saw what Vacaville Staples has come down to nowadays, I knew this wouldn't be a similar experience. The space is now split in 2, with the larger part belonging to Dollar Tree. What's left of Staples is small, but somehow still disorganized store. At least there are signs where the Amazon returns are handled, so i walked straight past the registers to reach one unhappy employee dealing with a line of about 5 customers, herself surrounded by multiple boxes. Like a robot, she would ask everyone the same question in an annoyed voice: "how many items?". Once she would scan the code, her body language doesn't even try to hide how much she hates doing this. In between sighs and heavy breathing, I felt like leaving before it was even my turn. Just being in the same space made me feel uncomfortable, like I was doing something wrong. Just as I reached the counter, this Staples employee starts rummaging through boxes and said it will be couple of minutes. Yes, there are still about 4-5 people behind me waiting and the only employee that is handling the returns is moving items to different boxes. Let that register. Once she was finished; same robotic question. She then printed out the sticker, slapped it on the item, and threw it into the box. Finally, asks "any questions?". Hell no, I just want to get out of here. It's a true shame that Amazon is letting Staples handle their returns and that Staples does not care about at least some basic customer service. I'm not sure where this employee's frustration comes from, but taking it out on customers surely will not help her cause. Two stars just because the return showed up as accepted in my Amazon account, but I surely hope I never have to come back here. read more

How they could get three stars is beyond me. First they have a terrible selection. Smallest store I've been to. Customer service was practically non-existent. I have been regular customer at this store for years buying all of my office supplies here. It looks to me like this store has turned into an Amazon only, package return, drop off warehouse. The young lady mentioned that amazon customers are not staples customers-that they prioritize customers purchasing products before Amazon returns. Had to ship out a few Amazon packages on a Sunday. There was already a line before the store opened. It moved pretty quickly though. Pretty easy process. Also needed to use the copy center to make some copies and scans. It was a bit of a slow process as there was only one copy machine. The staff were really helpful though! read more

If I could give negative 100 stars I would. I've come here several times for various reasons & today I came in to print out a single page. The worker who was not even helping someone was nearby. First I asked about the computer printing station that I have never used, she impatiently rolled her eyes & told me sarcastically that it works just like a computer. I opted to wait for the copy machine strain as I had used that before. When it was my turn I attempted to print my document, but there was an issue. I politely asked if someone could help walk me through it because I was struggling badly & there were now people waiting in line for me to finish. I started panicking & tried to get the same workers attention. She looked at me & ignored me. I was so stressed I was about to burst into tears of frustration. The two ladies waiting behind me very kindly offered to help me, saying that they know all about how terrible the employees are at this location. All it took was less than 2 minutes of assistance & I was good to go. Why should another customer have to help me when the capable employees are free to help? That lady worker treated me so badly I left so upset. I think she literally had a personal problem with helping me, though I can't imagine why. I don't know her name but she was a heavyweight African American person with a bright red poof of hair on top with shaved sides. The other worker with the dreads locks has helped me before & Is kind. But the red puff woman was horrible, indignant and completely indifferent. Not positive qualities conducive with running a business. I'm so angry about it. Just visited the store today and was extremely disappointed in the customer service I received when returning my Amazon packages. When you choose to return things at Amazon, one of the choices you can select is item not in package and they instruct you to drop it off at Staples. What I was returning was still in the Amazon box but because she couldn't tape the box shut the employee Pearl proceeded to take out the parts one by one and place them into a plastic bag instead of just putting the whole box into a plastic bag. She proceeded to do it as slow as possible, and looking at me like I was an idiot who was inconveniencing her day. I would suggest that Staples no longer accept Amazon returns if this is how their employees are going to treat customers that come in. read more

I had never had a project made and printed before and had no idea of the steps so I brought my computer with me. The store was busy , but Margaret was the perfect model of customer service. She guided me through all the steps , while being attentive to her other customers. She was patient and kind. I had QR codes , she checked to make sure they worked . This location continually gotten worse. It seems like they are only in business now to do Amazon.com returns. I went there today to get school supplies for my kid, went to the check out counter to pay but there was no one there. I saw THREE employees on the other side of the store but only ONE was helping a customer. They glanced over and saw me in line but did nothing so I went over to where they were so that I could pay. The gentleman who was helping a customer saw me and asked the other two workers if one of them could help me at the check out counter. It seemed like a battle of who would stay to box Amazon orders and who would go to work check out. The employee who apparently lost the battle ignored me at the counter and went to the check out area. Seeing no one there she walked away until I got her attention. She asked if I needed to check out, I said yes and while she rang me up it was obvious she didn't want to. Staples used to be the store to go to for office and school supplies. At this point if it's not an Amazon return I'll go to Target or Walmart. Even they have better customer service than this place. read more

This store has basically turned into an Amazon return store. I went to get something to get laminated. Apparently, there's not anyone to help you in the print shop services. Recently came in to have a bunch of papers shredded. I called before coming to make sure they had a shredder and to get pricing info. They weigh your papers first then charge $1.29 per pound which wasn't bad in my opinion being that some of these papers I've had for a decade and my little shredder at home would take forever. I had a total of 14lbs of papers that needed shredding. I was charged $18 ish dollars and thought that was a good deal. The employees there were helpful. You literally put your papers in a slot then pay. The shredder is locked so no one can get inside. Overall good experience and whenever I have a huge load like that again I'll be back to shred more. read more

Received a box of monopoly prozm wnba cards from this location thru Walmart delivery upon arrival I opened the package. That was resealed. But damaged. As I opened the box. I noticed each individual package of cards were already opened torn open and missing multiple cards. As each one should have had 4 cards. Most were missing atleast one to two cards as a card collector I was highly upset as I anticipated to receive this item for the first time purchasing. I asked Manager Madi to help me print coupons that had been emailed to my iPhone. Reluctantly, she helped me and then sent me to a self service machine to follow the directions. I have no problem with any of that. However, she failed to mention that she had already emailed (Step 1) of the instructions. So that put me at step two. You can see why I had to ask her for additional help. She finally came over to the machine and walked me through the second & third steps. She informed me that she had also emailed one other coupon. With that information I was able to get through the second and third steps. She went back behind the print counter. Incidentally, there were only two customers in the store. My last question was could she walk me through Step 1. She turned me over to a nice young fella to help me print a third coupon. Unfortunately, after several tries he had to call Madi to complete the three steps. All she had to do was assist me when I first approached her. As a 80 year old (in 2024) I felt there could have been a little more compassion, not to mention basic respect for any customer. It's not like my era. I've owned several small businesses over the years. I know good help has always been hard to find. This manager did not represent Staples in a good way. read more

I was going to leave a review to Austin and I loved that the very first review I saw when this page uploaded was in Austin! I was waiting in line for an Amazon return, the lady in front had a zillion things all separate of course. What impressed me is Austin's great attitude and willingness to help. He seemed so busy taking other orders and trying to get everyone in line help despite being solo staffed with no help. I absolutely believe if he's not a manager already he should be promoted. And if he doesn't want to be a manager he should at least get a raise. This review is for the print services. I dropped off wedding name cards & a wedding seating chart (PDF) to be printed, my wedding was in 2 weeks from then. They did an awesome job! The name cards were ready in 1 day, and the seating chart (20x30 foam board) was complete in 1 week. (It usually takes 2 days, but they QC'ed the foam board, found a crease, and sent it back to be redone). I really appreciate the attention to detail the staff do with their work. I also like how Erica called me to inform me of the delay. I def will go back to them for anymore print jobs! (most likely soon, since now my sister is getting married in the summer!). It's all about saving money and the benefits shopping at Staples have been validated: I bought two reams of paper and the final rebated price will only cost $3.00 per ream~Cool, eh? I had to also buy pen refills for my ink pens: Staples is the only store carrying my ink pens' refill brands; I've had the same ink pen for over two and a half decades and I'm still able finding ink pen refills for my pens . . . Impressive consistency, indeed! The only reason Staples only received four stars is due to their HP printer cartridges costs more than other stores so, I didn't buy my ink refill cartridges here. If Staples buys HP ink cartridges in bulk passing the savings onto their customers, I certainly would buy in bulk. However, I'll just wait until Staples finds a buyer who can obtain lower prices for bulk HP printer ink cartridges. read more

I dropped off 30 ink cartridges about three weeks ago of which they told me they could only give me 20 in credit for the recycling program. Two days ago I dropped off 20 and they told me they could only give me 10 credits. Today I went in to use some of my recycling credit and was told by the MOD, Michael, that I had to buy $30 worth of ink to receive any credit because there was nothing showing in the system. I told him there has never been any kind of communication about that in all the time I've dropped off cartridges. They have let me drop off 50 cartridges before they bother telling me that. I told him that he would be losing my business in the future and he said, "Have a nice day ma'am". I told him he obviously gets paid the same whether he helps customers or not and he just stood there and looked at me. Word of mouth can be detrimental to any local business and my word-of-mouth from here on out will be nothing but negative. read more

The printers were right by the entrance where a man named Jason met me and helped me pick the right one for me. He was patient with all my questions. As I was checking out a nice lady named Macie rang me up and told me that the do price match! She helped me save $20 just by price matching then i had a 10off coupon, which made me feel like I got a good deal. My overall experience was good. I'd go there again. ELIZABETH assisted us immediately and found our cartridge within seconds! She asked us a few questions to determine our needs and helped us select the ideal ink cartridge set! With our mission quickly accomplished, we checked out with PAM who again was very kind, efficient and helpful! I took a camera manual to be coil bound. That was all they had to do. Well the first guy messed up punching the holes so that ruined 1/2 of the booklet. Then he tried to copy the ruined pages. Too much for him to handle so he asked that I leave the materials to be work on. I offered to provide a .pdf file to make it easier. Went back after two days and the booklet was ready, EXCEPT, once again the pages were not coil bound correctly. Alex (not the original person who helped me) said that the quality control was poor and they would redo the project for me. Without going into detail, a simple task of coil binding a preprinted booklet was too much for Staples to handle. Perhaps making copies is their forte. But I certainly wouldn't trust any other task to them. read more

I used a Groupon to purchase Christmas cards and went into the store to upload my photos and design them. Tyler and Cory were extremely helpful and friendly, they helped me craft the Christmas cards of my dreams! Their system had been down all day, at no fault of their own, and they were extremely apologetic for this. They gave me feedback on my many questions I had about the kiosk system, and even gave me advice on how to position my photos to make my Christmas cards more aesthetically pleasing.
