This location is where the former Tea House Formosa was. The tables are still the same, but the register set up is now at the counter. They have lots of drink options as well as food options. I ordered an Oolong Milk Tea, the Cuckoo's Chicken Sandwich, and their Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets both in mild. Just a note** they have a minimum of $8 for card payments. The oolong milk tea is just okay. Comparing it to other boba shops in the area, it's not as flavorful of a tea taste. I do like the packaging on the cups, you could possibly reuse it for something else lol. The Cuckoo's Chicken Sandwich I got in mild was good. The sauce tasted like gochujang, a Korean chili paste. The Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets reminds me of Quickly's Chicken Nuggets, which are the bomb! I feel like Cuckoo's portions are much bigger or the same amount. They taste identical that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference! I would love to come back and try their different snack options as well. The drinks are pretty good; I normally order the oolong milk tea. The tapioca is usually a good chewy texture but there are times when it is hard. As for food I have tried the bento boxes and chicken nuggets. The bento boxes are okay, I wouldn't go o it if my way to order one if not already here. The garlic soy chicken nuggets however are so addictive!! I have ordered the spicy nuggets once which were so spicy I could only eat two so be warned. When there are big groups it can get loud and gets hard to focus and study if you don't have noise canceling earbuds/headphones. There are some big tables and small tables here with power outlets, so definitely an option for studying here. It's super cute inside and they are normally playing K-pop! The location in Duluth was our go-to place for Taiwanese popcorn chicken. So I was happy that this location opened up on BuHi. Now we have 2 places in areas we frequent. I do recommend eating the chicken at the location instead of taking it to go. The steam will lessen the experience unless you have an air fryer to crisp them back up. read more

This is probably my 3rd-4th time being here now and I finally tried the food! Delicious just 5 stars!! I thought it was pretty cool they're open late at 11pm on a weekday so if you've already eaten dinner a while back and want some place to chill last minute for some time I highly recommend this place. We had their popcorn chicken (I had it mildly spicy), spring rolls, and fries. The seasoning on the chicken and fries is just so delicious. It kind of reminds me of the taste of Chinese bbq. Having been a regular of the former tenant that occupied this space in its early days, I was curious what Cuckoo's Cafe was cooking up at the place I had my first tieguanyin with cheese foam (RIP butter creamers). I'm guessing Tea House Formosa, aforementioned tenant, switched ownership between its opening and closing, because the menu and layout changed in weird ways that led to its ultimate demise. Cuckoo's Cafe fixed some of the strangeness of navigating the space and brought back tasty Taiwanese snacks. Visiting Cuckoo's Cafe as part of Daniel B.'s continued UYE series (altered to accommodate take-out during the COVID-19 pandemic), I wanted to really support the business by trying a variety of items. I visited with my mom, sister, and son, and we ordered the chicken nuggets, corn nuggets, pork dumplings, (fried) spring rolls, Taiwanese sausages, chicken cutlet bento box, and the crabby sandwich (totally my sister, because I don't do seafood). We liked everything, especially with the appetite we'd worked up perusing art at The High just before arriving. My sister got the fried chicken sandwich by accident but when she brought it to the attention of the woman who gave her her order, the error was quickly corrected and she scored a freebie in the process. The stand-out were the corn nuggets. Chicken nuggets were tasty, though not so much more so than Taiwanese chicken nuggets that I can get at numerous places in the area. I was just so-so on the spring rolls, since I don't like mushrooms. Dumplings were pretty standard fried ones. The bento box we had the next day and it was still delicious (with the cutlet thrown into the oven to crisp it up). Taiwanese sausages were the typical sweet ones that you find at other Taiwanese snack places. My sister said her crab sandwich was tasty and perfectly fried. There were also a lot of snacks that I'd love to try next time when I'm not full from dinner. My one issue was the smell inside. Might have been due to what they were using to sanitize, but it smelled somewhat of bleach and it was hard to ignore the smell inside and enjoy my drink. Great place if you want both tea/fruity drinks and Taiwanese snacks or small meals! The drink menu has a lot of fruity teas that tend to be on the sweeter side but all refreshing. I like that you can also combine a fruit flavor (lychee, strawberry, mango, etc) with a teas (black, oolong, green) and I've never had a bad drink in any combo. The food is also good and mostly consists of fried items. I like that they do savory foods compared to other tea shops in the area - lots of fried traditional and more unique Taiwanese snacks like chicken, tofu, corn nuggets, takoyaki. Also they have sandwiches and bentos. This hidden gem is one of my favorite boba tea places. The shop is located in a shopping center that offers plenty of parking. It is spacious and clean inside with plenty of space for sitting with friends or even alone to get some work done. They also offer a huge selection of drink options. My favorite is the peach green tea and I add lychee. I have had the milk teas before but always find my way back to the green tea. It is refreshing and the packaging is adorable. Came here for boba, but because of the $8 card minimum I ended up getting the chicken nuggets. Thank goodness I got the nuggets because I would've been super unsatisfied if I just had the boba. The pearls themself are decent, but the drink content is 5/10 at best. I got the brown sugar milk tea, and it's probably the weakest BSMT I've ever had. The chicken nuggets were fire though. With Buford Highway being over saturated with restaurants of the same culture, it's really hard to test out and find really good spots like this. Just like the title suggests, it's a cafe but not only do they serve multiple kinds of bubble tea, but also food. A lot of it are finger foods at decent portions such as popcorn chicken, calamari, French fries, etc. I personally come here for the food. I've tried the garlic popcorn chicken with the spicy season (phenomenal), the crab sandwiches (pretty decent), and the calamari (decent as well). Honestly, I've tried enough of their food and gave it a pass, that I've started to explore the menu. For the drinks, a lot of them are just okay. It's a real hit or miss with them because I would try them thinking it had a small twist to them and they wouldn't. For example if I ordered a vanilla milk tea, it would just taste like store bought vanilla milk with a splash of tea rather vanilla extract/essence; things like that. I would however recommend the taro milk tea, that hasn't failed me. Overall this is a nice cute spot to try out. Can be slightly pricey, parking is decent, and you can study there if you want. Great ambiance. However, customer service is lacking. $8 minimum cost so you must order a drink + some side dish to be able to order without cash. As to customer service, they fail to accommodate to the customer. I ordered an espresso drink to which I found too sweet. I asked for a replacement without sugar, and they responded I needed to order a new one instead. Another thing, be prepared to wash down any snacks you order as they are overtly salty. I feel like my blood pressure is rising from both their over salting and lack of customer service. Update: the manager confronted me about my post immediately after I submitted it. She failed to resolve anything and instead proceeded to lecture me about what I did wrong. Honestly, I felt disrespected she failed to make any amends or resolution. So happy there's a location closer to me! I first tried the location in gwinnett and really enjoyed the atmosphere they create. This location is no different. The seating is really nice inside where you can spread out and they keep games available for you to play like connect four. I really enjoyed the fruitarian (tea cocktail) however it is very sweet so some may not love that. I also like the taro tea. Also, they have great food options like chicken cutlets which have a great taste, fries, taiyaki, corn nuggets, etc for around $4. They also have bento boxes and larger portions you can order. I stopped into Cuckoo's Cafe after eating at Arepa Grill because I wanted something sweet to top off my meal. I wasn't disappointed! Cuckoo's has a wide selection of tea-based drinks but I was surprised to learn they also have snacks and food dishes. Inside the cafe is quiet and spacious. With great caffeinated beverages, tucked away booths (and plenty of outlets!), and food...I could see myself spending hours studying or working here! Of course, that wasn't my mission for this particular visit but I could see myself coming back. For my drink, I got a passion fruit tea with lychee jellies -- 50% sugar and ice. Even at half sweetness, it was still VERY sweet...I can't imagine what 100% sugar is like. Definitely go lower on sugar than you think you want! There also aren't different choices for cup size, as everything is served in one tall cup. It's a good size for sharing if you're not super thirsty.
