No major complaints here! After staying at a guest ranch and having an incredible nights rest I dug deeper into the pillows they had and sure enough they were CuddleDown. I called the phone # on the CuddleDown website and someone who barely spoke English answered the phone. They couldn't understand me, nor I with them very well so I called a CuddleDown brick and mortar store. The lady I spoke with was very helpful and able to narrow down which pillows the ranch had with a "z" number off the tag. I proceeded to order 2 of those pillows off of their website and they were shipped timely via FedEx. Two nights now on the new pillows and I'm very happy with my purchase. The shipping for two king pillows was $19.99 via FedEx but I don't think that is out of the norm being that they came in a large box and weren't smashed down in size. With all of that you will have to call and fight for your money back. They are not an honorable company. You cannot reach a customer service supervisor no matter how many people with whom you speak and no matter how long you wait on the line. There is no one who will tell you what they do with pillows that customers return after the trial. That could be a three days ,a month. Or the 90 days you are given. I was told by three different people in customer service that they are not allowed to tell you what they do with them. A little honesty would go a long way. If I could give no stars I would...they screwed up my order and never sent it and never told me and then when I had to call to reorder it again, they were not helpful and confusing. When I got the product, the color was different than the picture, so I returned everything. It took months to get the refund. I ordered a bed jacket and they sent me the wrong one. I returned it and wanted an exchange for the one I originally ordered. I haven't heard from them, but then got a refund on my credit card for more than $27 less than I paid for the bed jacket, as they don't refund shipping on both ends. So I spent $27 and ended up with nothing. No one even bothered to send me an email explaining that the jacket I wanted wasn't available. I've patronized Cuddledown through the years because I thought they were a small Maine-based firm with good quality control, and buying products made in the USA is important to me. Unfortunately Cuddledown's product quality has plummeted and their sheets are not made here anymore either. Here's what happened: One of my old sheets was badly ripped so I ordered a new set of 400 thread sateen sheets from Cuddledown last week. As other Yelpers have noted, Cuddledown's pricing and shipping costs are relatively high. I wouldn't mind that if the sheets were of good quality and made in the USA as advertised. Not so! The sheets I received were clearly marked "MADE IN CHINA," and they gave off a strong noxious chemical odor when I unboxed them so I had to wash them twice before using. Fabric is thin and scratchy, doesn't compare with the Cuddledown sateen sheets I purchased previously. I can't repack and return the sheets now, especially in the midst of a pandemic, not to mention the nonrefundable $22.00 shipping charge. Ah well seems that nothing's the same anymore....very disappointed. read more

The ratings for this store are unfair, in my opinion. If you read the reviews, you will notice that most of them are for the customer service of the online shop and not the physical store. I can understand the complaints about the online store. The online store model is owned by a group of catalogs. The customer service representatives represent all the stores and do not know the merchandise as all they do is take orders. They are not based in the United States and don't physically handle the merchandise. I know a lot of companies outsource now to cut costs and, in terms of customer service, it's just not the same. And, for Cuddledown, it looks like it is bringing down the reputation of the company. For example, when I first called the online customer service, I inquired what was on the bed besides the sheet set I was ordering as I wanted to make my bed look exactly like the one pictured. The customer service agent did not have this information and did not have the ability to find out. However, this problem was remedied when I called the number for the physical store and looked in the catalog I was able to get my answers. Another problem I had with the online store is that the items I purchased in my first order went more on sale after I purchased it. I e-mailed the online shop and they would not give me a price adjustment. I should have called the physical store to see if they would remedy the situation but I did not get around to it and frankly, I was frustrated and didn't want to spend any more time arguing about it. I thought it was unfair, especially since I had just purchased the items, I was still in the return window, and shipping was expensive. The employees at the physical storefront helped me with another issue on my second order and they are nice and helpful and have actually seen the merchandise and can tell you about it. Call the number of the physical store and not the online number. They will help you. You would be better off placing an order through them. However, you may have luck online if you know that you want. I placed my first order from Cuddledown online. I was very happy with what I received and everything went smoothly. I received exactly what I ordered. My items arrived in a timely matter. There was an issue with my second order through the website and I had to do a return. However, everything went smoothly for me. I was refunded promptly as soon as I called up with the tracking number and let them know my items had arrived. Note: take a pic of the tracking number so you can track your return. I would stay away from the VIP offer online unless you are planning to order more things from the catalogs. The shipping can be pricey and they don'w waive shipping on large orders but I noticed that it is that way with other linen companies as well and if you are only ordering once it's not worth it. Overall, the quality of the Cuddledown products are great. The items are beautiful. I do suggest buying from this company if there is something you like here. If you are weary because of the bad reviews, I highly suggest calling the store to place an order. read more

I signed up for ads via text in order to get free shipping (on orders of $175+) to avoid a hefty $26.99 shipping charge on a $231 order I wanted to place. After signing up for their so-called "free shipping" I tried to process my order, only to see a $13.99 charge for shipping in my online shopping cart (plus a $2.50 "carrier imposed surcharge" which is total nonsense). I called customer service and was told that "as a courtesy" she would waive the $13.99 shipping fee on my $231 order. Free shipping? Apparently not! Obviously, they were of no use to us and we had to deal with the return. Ordered sheets from them online, should have noticed they didn't have a "shipped by" date when I did. A week went by with no update on the status (the "Order Status" page the confirmation email linked to still said "Being Processed"). I emailed them to ask where my order was and received a response saying they needed more info about my credit card (zip code and 1-800 number on the back). Pretty sure I had already given my zip code and don't know why they'd need the 1-800 number. Anyway, they should have reached out to me before I reached out to them a week later. Like others here, it's the online service that I have had problems with. They said my address didn't agree with what's on my credit card address, so they held the order. I have one of those New England addresses that you can write three or four different ways. I try to keep the simplest version but some of my credit cards autofill to something else on the statement. Nevertheless, the credit card always approve orders with the simplest address (because it means the same thing). Cuddledown held the order until I called and then they argued with me about my address. I had to find my statement from that credit card and give them that information (version 3) but then they autocorrected it to version 4. I haven't ordered from them in a couple years. I hope that quality of the comforter is still good enough to be worth this ridiculousness. Cuddledown management, please change your online and phone-in customer service. Returning two pillowcases to Cuddledown has resulted in me deciding never to order from them again after many years of wonderful merchandise and service. Here's what I experienced this week: (1) No return label was included even though the reverse side of the return/exchange form says: AFFIX LABEL HERE. (2) So I had to call twice to find out how to get a label. I was on hold for a very long time. The first rep. failed to send the label. The second rep. sent me a link to where I could print out the two-page label/return slip from the website. You would have thought I was returning gold bricks or a tiger. (3) Printing out the two pages sucked up a great deal of ink from my home printer due to all the bold text, lines, borders, QR codes, etc. (4) Now to repackage the set of pillowcases, locate an FedX office, and make that round trip, after paying Cuddledown an additional $10.95 for the label AND $2.50 for carrier imposed surcharge added to the $59.00 for the pillowcases and $16.49 for S&H. This is not good customer service. It is disrespectful to customers. Customers shouldn't have to do all this work to get two pillowcases ready to send back. The ultimate insult is that I had to pay $10.95 for the return label. And the instructions warn that a refund can take four to six weeks. P.S. The colors in the pillowcase are faded compared to how they look on the website. read more

I heard about Cuddledown through my mother, who is now 94 years old. This woman knew her linens. In addition to cuddle down she had linens from all over the world so if she thought a product was great I knew it had to be. Although they are a bit pricey, I have yet to find another company with such high quality products as Cuddledown. I just bought their imitation down duvet for a queen bed and it is incredibly luxurious. I have also bought a mattress cover and again exceptional quality. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews on Yelp because that has not been my experience. If you can get your hands on a set of their sheets especially if you can get them on sale, I highly recommend you grab them. It'll be one of the best purchases you've ever made! read more

Shipping charges are ridiculous. For underwear that weighs less than a pound and is being sent to the next state, they charged $19.99 plus a $2 carrier fee. Then they waited THREE WEEKS to ship. I've bought sateen sheets from cuddledown in the past, but they got holes after a year or two or shrunk so the fitted sheets don't stay on the bed. Recently, I tried to place an order for sheets and a blanket, and they canceled the order for the blanket without notifying me. Poor customer services! I did extensive research into sheets, intending this as a birthday present for spouse. Cuddledown was extremely expensive but I decided to bite the bullet and order, figuring you spend hours in bed so why not splurge for luxury. I almost cancelled the order when I saw how expensive shipping was. In this day and age, I am used to free shipping if I am spending $200+ with a company, but no dice with Cuddledown. I went ahead with the order....... Apparently my sheets were backordered. But, I was never notified of this. Ever. Typically, when something is backordered, you are quickly notified. Not here. After weeks with no shipping email, I checked the status and found out it was backordered to a certain date. That date came and went, and then a new date appeared. Also came and went. that's when I decided to call and cancel my order. At this point, it was too late to order elsewhere for my spouse's birthday present. If I could give a negative I would. I purchased a 238.00 pillow in hopes that it would finally solve my sleep problem. Immediately upon opening, I knew it would not be right. I started the return in the first week of December. I was told no, they could not email a label that I had to wait for 7 to 10 business days. After 10 days I called and was told they would send that now to wait for 7 to 10 business days. Yesterday I tried again and was told 7-10. I have tried to call the corporate number numerous times. I wish I checked the review before ordering, never expect a company which tries to sell higher-end products can be this bad. Their customer Service is a joke, the bad review is 100% accurate. Extremely rude and impatient when the problem is their website only provides one tracking, so does the shipping confirmation in the email, therefore I have to call them to find out what's going on when I only received partial order and to get the 2nd tracking. The staff was very rude, she gave me the tracking number, 23 digits, without stop once, and I only asked her to repeat the last 2 digits please and she gave me an attitude, and hung up on me after I thanked her in the end. This is an order of $500, and paid the shipping and "handling" fee, but she cannot even bother to give me 3 secs more? The merchandise is very nice, but I had the same experience as others. Their web site is not up to date. You order a set of sheets, and they are out of stock on the pillowcases. You order a duvet and shams and they are out of the shams. They don't contact you to see if you want an incomplete order. You are charged shipping and then return shipping. You can call customer service and they will say they are putting in a note, but you don't get a refund. Shipping cost are very high. read more

The product review: The only reason I bought from Cuddledown was for the color selection. My daughter wanted light purple. And I wanted to get her a duvet and matching shams. The price was outrageous but even more pricey was the shipping and tax. I calculated the tax and it is like 12%. Who charges that much for tax? And the ridiculous shipping was not justified and it was slow too. It took a long time to get the sheets. The checkout mentioned a refund of the shipping if I joined their VIP rebate program. I looked into it and it was $14.95/mo. I figure I could just join and cancel right away after the first month. But they are pretty clever. They don't send you the check until the first $14.95 was charged on my CC. VIP review: I was convinced that this would workout for me because I had just moved and needed new furniture, bedsheets, beds, kitchenware etc and the merchant list included my favorite stores. I noticed a few of you had issues getting the rebate but I have never had this issue. I use the email address they provide and one rebate per email. I include a .pdf or a picture of the receipt. I like their VIP program however, I don't move and need tons of stuff every year. This year was an exception. I did the math and basically on a normal month where I am not buying extra stuff for the house but just groceries, I might get back about $25 a month. So that nets me $10/mo.
