Then, Tesla recalled the Powerwall-2 batteries because of a fire risk. While it took a while to get going, Photon came yesterday and completed the battery replacement, just as thorough and professional as with the initial project. One of the selling points was that we would be able to receive a rebate from Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) upon completion of the project. Photon Brothers told us that they would help us with the rebate and application process. Although they did help with the application process, they failed to explain many of the requirements needed to obtain the rebate. For instance, we were never told that we had to program our battery to discharge at least 50% of its capacity daily during peak hours for a two-week period while 3CE would monitor the battery system. Upon completion of the application it stalled, because we did not know about this requirement. At least half a dozen phone calls were made to 3CE to try and figure why we were not getting our rebate. It took us over a year to figure this out, with NO HELP from Photon Brothers. Their response was something akin to, "This is between you and 3CE." A simple explanation would have relieved us of much aggravation. We finally received our rebate in March of 2026, well over a year from when we first applied. In addition, we never received instructions from Photon Brothers on how to use the Tessla App to maximum the benefits of the battery system. When we would call Photon Brothers for help with the App, sometimes we received assistance, while other times, no one called us back. We watched the Tessla Battery videos and did not find them helpful. In conclusion, we are disappointed with the lack of support received from Photon Brothers.

In every case our needs were met with a very prompt response from the office (Thanks Bev!) followed by courteous, professional field staff. Our latest issue was a total mystery to me after a couple of days working to find out why a single receptacle in our recently remodeled master bath showed dead while all the others worked fine. Brandon doorbell at 8:02 for an 8:00 appointment. OK, one of my biggest peeves was knocked flat. He listened to the issue as I explained the symptoms and what I had done for troubleshooting and then started doing his own investigation. He had the problem found and resolved in about an hour. Seems the electrician (NOT Electricraft) that did our remodel work made a couple of simple errors that led to our issue. In retrospect we seemed to have dodged a bullet with the previous work so cudos to Brandon for finding and resolving the issue. After finishing the bathroom, Brandon extended a circuit in the garage to allow for an outside receptacle (Christmas lights for Momma) and a new outlet for a replacement of our aging garage door opener. Another success in short order. When it comes to critical work in our home where poor workmanship could lead to a disaster like an electrical fire I always try to uses the best, not cheapest service. All of our electrical work goes to Electricraft and Brandon.

The contract price included everything needed, including the county building permit. Although they installed my 240 volt outlet adjacent to my electrical panel as I preferred, I learned that it would have been the same price for a very long wiring run which would make it an even better value because it affords the flexibility of locating the outlet at the most convenient location for anyone. Their installation team was very friendly and did the job professionally. My project manager also applied for the 3CE rebates on my behalf, and that brought the total cost down to $250. In checking up on the status of my rebate applications, the 3CE agent confirmed that their funding for rebates is unaffected by the current federal government's pulling back of existing approved and funded programs, as well as closure of offices and various government services that provide support. All's good!

I sold my house in August and transferred the Sunrun solar system to the new owner at that time. I received a confirmation email from Sunrun stating the transfer to the new owner was complete. I received a final bill and paid it immediately. In September Sunrun drafted a payment from my bank account. I called and after over an hour I was supposed to get a refund to my bank account in 2-4 days (Sunrun sent an email stating I would be refunded in 2-4 days). The refund never occurred. I called my bank and disputed the charge. The bank refunded my money after 10 days. I also stopped all ACH payments from Sunrun at that time also. October 2025 Sunrun attempted to draft a monthly charge from my bank account again this month . This time it was declined by my bank. Sunrun sent me an email stating I owed them money and if I did not pay I would be sent to collections. Since August I no longer have a Sunrun system or account that has been confirmed more than once via email from Sunrun. I called the number on the email and even though the Sunrun employee acknowledged I should not have been charged as my account is closed and they owe me less than $3 back he could not help me. I asked for a supervisor and was told I could not speak to a supervisor as I was no longer a customer. I asked for clarification and confirmed with the employee I would not be able to speak with a supervisor since I was no longer a customer. After letting him know of my displeasure with the service I was receiving and the unwillingness of Sunrun to help I was able to finally get to a supervisor. We will see if the supervisor will follow through to fix the issue. The supervisor also confirmed this is a billing error and I do not owe any money. I do not recommend Sunrun to anyone which is unfortunate as the customer service was top notch for several years. I am not sure why the service is so poor now.

The initial site survey was completed by Robert. He was courteous, punctual and friendly. Once it came time to begin our installation, Briyon (crew Supervisor) came on site and we talked about when the installation materials would be delivered and decided on a mutually agreeable location to store them for the job. My old roof had to be removed and disposed of, so we also agreed on a location for the roll-off dumpster. Once the material and dumpster were in place the crew showed up and immediately set up safety zones and cautioned us about the dangers of the roof removal process (2 layers of composition shingles and 1 layer of wood shingles) expressing concern for our safety. Unfortunately for them it was 3 days of triple digit temperatures and dangerously hot weather and working conditions. I never heard a single complaint about it. Over the next couple of weeks, we watched these guys in awe as they ascended the roof each day looking like paratroopers on safety ropes completing the job before them. Briyon (a player-coach Supervisor), Jeremy, Nate, Cory, Will and AV - all deserve special recognition. Each of them has specialty skills and yet is capable in any supporting role in the solar roof installation process. These guys are craftsmen that take pride in their work and product. That was obvious throughout the installation. At the end of each workday, the team begins a site cleanup, vacuuming up nails and debris and removing their ladders and the safety zones so that our property was both accessible and safe. Almost unbelievably, through weather dictated miserable working conditions and physically exhausting tasks, every team member was always courteous and kind and patient with us, the homeowners. We never heard a single foul word from any team member. It is exceedingly difficult to find a team of this quality and even rarer to have teammates that respect each other and treat each other so well. Tesla should be very proud to have these guys representing the company and they are to be commended. The finished product is a work of art. Every person that has seen the roof, from neighbors, to inspectors, to UPS drivers, has commented on how beautiful our roof is. But even better than having a beautiful roof, is having a beautiful roof that produces clean energy. We can't wait to receive our PTO so that we can enjoy the full benefit of the roof and powerwalls!
