    The interior of the restaurant

Our meal started out well enough. We were greeted by a friendly "Hola!!!" by our server and seated reasonably quickly. But it kind of went downhill from there. The bread was hard and dry. It took some time to get bottles of olive oil and balsamic. The first course of our prix fixe menu was the best part (I had a very fresh salad) but the second course took about 40 minutes to come out. Our waitress said she was going to check on it and disappeared for some time. When she returned with our plates we were both disappointed. I had the oxtail which was savory and tasty but lukewarm in a semi-congealed sauce with discs of potato. My husband had a whole fish poached with herbs. It was red in the middle and smelled a little too fishy. We were forgotten again for 10-15 minutes and our waitress completely disappeared at that point. The gruff attendant behind the counter came by to clear our dishes and ask what we wanted for dessert. The chocolate cake was dense and delicious but my husband did not enjoy his hardened slice of carrot cake. The coffee was nothing to write home about. We paid over 45.00 yet we had better meals for half the price in other places off the beaten path in Barcelona. This restaurant may seem convenient to the Plaça Catalunya (indeed, we picked it because we wanted a "quick" - HA! - meal before jumping on the double decker bus across the way), but I say skip it, and go to the boqueria instead.

Good paella! Friendly waiters. It is a nice place to eat in the touristic center of Barcelona.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.

I didn't love that they put some kind of spice on the eggs (paprika maybe) - just too aggressive a flavor than I want in the am with my simple breakfast. Also the sodas here are weird, skip em - no name brand Coke Zero here.

Unfortunately, they weren't really that good. There was more cream than waffle, and the waffle itself didn't taste like anything. The cream had a weird taste; the only thing that was really delicious about it were the Oreos and Oreo bits on top. I also tried my friend's spirulina smoothie bowl, which she liked, but I didn't much. For drinks, I wanted to try the tiramisu coffee, but they were out, so I just had the hot chocolate. It was rich and sweet; I enjoyed it, but it wasn't exceptional. My friends had the Oreo vodka milkshake and the strawberry cheesecake vodka, which were, according to them, absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, the food and drinks I got weren't anything special. However, the vibe of this place is so cute and the service is very friendly!
