The morning I visited had a fun mix of laptop workers and moms with their kiddos -- a lively balance! You order at the counter, grab a seat, and they call your name when it's ready. Great sit down coffee shop! Seating is very welcoming and offer a variety of different styles of arrangements. This place does get super busy although so be aware if you're coming at peak hour! I sat in house and was served with actual plates and cups, which I appreciate. I enjoyed just a plain cappuccino to taste their espresso and I can report it's creamy and smooth! I also ended up ordered a variety of their pastries, some outshined others but overall I was happy with the selection for a quick bite. I do wish there was a little bit more of a variety of pastries or at least a bit more stock, I got there fairly early in the day and there were already a few sold out. We found this place on yelp and decided to stop by. It was in a shopping center so plenty of parking. I came on a Saturday this place was nice and open. There was a lot of people there that day. I liked that they sold books and other things. I asked for what they recommend and the guy at the register said a latte they had that was going away in two days . I decided to give it a try. Me and my wife ran in while doing some errands. The setup was really nice. The seating, the art, the string lights, even the bathroom had some character. We split the snickerdoodle latte and the feta and fig jam toast, and I got my usual black coffee on the side. The latte had good flavor and wasn't too sweet. I wanted to love Culture Coffee. It's been in my bookmarks for a hot minute. Specifically because of their "Cardi C" menu item; I'm a sucker for anything cardamom. First impressions when I entered were that this is the sort of place you see out in the bay, or somewhere like slow. The hipster vibe hangs over the place like a pall. And it's so still inside! Why?! We live in a place where our summers are long and routinely in the triple digits. Walking inside a space and feeling the still, closed air is such a bummer. Make the drinks more expensive and crank that AC. Please. My biggest gripe though is that the "Cardi C" comes in one size and it's small! A tease of caffeinated dreams. I've been here both times I've visited Modesto this year. It's my friend's favorite coffee shop in the area. I love the easy parking, the hobby lobby next door, and the open air lots soft natural light vibes inside. Coffee is about the typical LA prices to me (which was surprising) but the people who work here are super nice - shoutout to Manny for wonderful service today, I knew I wanted a "fun" matcha and his rec certainly delivered. But the drinks are always good when we come. I also love the music played - I heard the baristas just to take turns picking. Shoutout to whoever also loves Taylor Swift radio. I totally recommend this shop as a good meetup place. I did come to work and was able to but it is loud for those of you that are sensitive to that stuff. Quick stop for a drink in Modesto. Didn't feel up for any of the chains and lucky enough Culture Coffee Bar was not far away. Walking in it had that pretty modern asthetic that a lot of those coffee places go for which was neither a good or bad thing but did like the chill atmosphere with ample seating and relatively quiet atmosphere. The service was quick and the drinks came out at a decent time. Staff was professional and not overtly friendly but that was fine with me, I don't need the fake cheeriness. I decided to treat myself this time with a creamsicle cold foam cold brew and my lovely wife went with a berry lemonade. Both drinks came out decent. We arrived early on a weekday morning and there were several people enjoying coffee at one of their many outdoor seating options, or coming in and out to grab coffee to go. The customer service is great here. The two ladies working this morning were very sweet. We ordered both of the specialty drinks - torched brown sugar latte & cookies n sweet cream cold brew. Both drinks are right up our alley! The brown sugar one was tasty to me but more on the bitter side - perfect for my husband. The cookies n cream was my cup of tea (well, coffee). The sweet cream topping was so yummy, like dessert! I love sweeter coffee drinks and this was the perfect balance because you can still taste actual cold brew. It got better the longer you waited too, when the cream settles in! The decor inside and outside is very cute! It all felt very on theme and intentional. The light also hits the shop perfectly in the morning. It just made it feel all more cozy. There is even a little gift shop area with tons of great gift ideas, and now that I'm writing about it, I realized I never got to take a full look at it! They have a food menu & some pastries as well so you can have a bite of something with your coffee. Cute coffee shop. First and last time coming. They lost my order. When I went up to check the status of it, I was told by the barista she would get it right up next. Which apparently meant putting out 3 other drinks first and having a lengthy conversation with another customer while my espresso shots sat and got bitter. The presentation was lovely, but the coffee tasted like burnt buttholes. Clearly they need additional training in not letting espresso shots sit out. For reference, I worked as a barista for 5 years. It was one of the first things we were taught. I suggest management have each of their employees pull a pair of shots. Taste one immediately after pouring, let the other sit for 10-20 seconds and see the difference in flavor. All of the artwork in the world is pointless if your drinks taste like crap. read more

To be honest, I'm always a sucker for a place that serves their coffee with a saucer. There is something "next level" about getting that plate to nestle your beverage into the perfectly designed countersink :) There's that, plus the drink will come with a nice design that looks a bit like a menorah although I know it's supposed to be something floral. Please don't read into that since I'm just using menorah to suggest my interpretation of the design on the chai latte. Think of it like an inkblot test with no geopolitical interpretation whatsoever... Meanwhile, back at the ranch this place is a great find for me coming from out of town. The place is clean, vibrant, and well lit with ample space to post up. The drinks are well crafted and the sweet treats range from cookies to other exotic treats. I went with the lemon cookie which was really just an oversized shortbread. It was not overly sweet but I could have used more lemon flavor. Especially now as meyer lemons are in season and bursting from the trees. The chai latte was excellent, not too sweet and a hint of savory but not over the top with flavors of vanilla or nutmeg. Overall I gave Culture Coffee Bar 5 stars because it checks all the boxes you look for in a nice cafe'. Quick note, there is a gym next door so you will see a fair share of post or pre workout folks coming in to get a reward beverage. Went here for the first time today. Had an amazing chai latte and got some good study time in. I actually completely lost track of time studying and stayed 15 minutes past their closing time, to which no one said anything to me and let me continue working while they started to close up.
