I've been going to Raquel for years now, I want to say over 5 years and I've never looked back. I've been searching for a hairstylist who specializes in dry curly hair cuts and who knows how to style curly hair and Raquel is it. From my very first appointment with her, she took the time to listen to what I wanted for my curly hair and used her knowledge and expertise to share with me her recommendations to reach my curly hair goals. One of the main things I was looking for was to leave my appointment with my hair styled in a way that made my curls look and feel healthy and Raquel consistently delivers that. All the other place I've been to were not able to style my hair correctly and I left the appointment with wet hair or just not the way that made me feel confident. Fast forward to today, I'm so happy that she now has her own hair salon. It's located in the heart of Wailuku in one of those small rows of homes. I remember growing up and walking past this area everyday. Seeing how she has transformed the place to make it this charming and comfortable location for clients is so awesome to see! I recently received a wash and go treatment by Raquel and Culture Curl Studio and am in love with my hair!! I have very thick and tight curls (4C hair texture) and rarely feel able to wear my curls out. Raquel took the time to wash my hair, do a steam treatment, condition and moisturize it before even starting to style. She also communicated exactly what she was doing and using as she went along, so I learned a lot about how to care for my hair. I went into her salon with damaged and dry hair that weighed down my curls, and came out with super healthy, hydrated curls! I went in for a curly cut and the hydrating hair mask treatment and it most definitely was money well spent. Today was my second cut with Raquel and honestly, don't tell my past hairdressers, she is by far my favourite stylist I've ever had. So respectful, kind, wonderful and even better, she does an amazing job cutting curly hair! Every single penny is worth her care, expertise, and all the skills she has to make me feel so beautiful whenever I leave her salon. I just got a Culture Curl Cut I this weekend and am so happy with the results! I have curly hair that I normally flat iron or just throw in a bun. Raquel taught me how to embrace my curls and more importantly how to take care of them. We started by talking about what I was hoping to achieve. Raquel gave me some advice about what might work for my hair. She gave me a curly dry cut then took me to the shampoo bowl where she proceeded to wash and detoxify my hair. It was so relaxing, I almost fell asleep! After that, she taught me how to use different products to make my curls really stand out. With this type of cut, I will be going back in about 4 months for the Culture Curl Cut II (which is included in the pricing for the CC Cut I).
