It's usually for sad reasons that I visit florists. Guess it's more common as we grow more rings in our trunks. A friend's parent recently passed and, being unable to attend the mass/service, I came here to order a flower arrangement on behalf of another friend and myself. My usual store was closed so I came here since the service was only four days away. A young gentleman Karl helped me. Working in this neighborhood, we already knew each other from casual greetings and small talk over the years. He helped me prepare the arrangement based on my printed email and a listing of my friends' and my name. I gave him my cell # so he could text me a photo of the flowers to show my friends. Sweetheart Florist exceeded my expectations. We needed standing flower arrangements and were calling florists on a holiday weekend seeing if they can deliver in 3 days. Understandably some said that's not enough time. I appreciated that Sweetheart's website had many photos and prices so I had an idea of what I wanted and the costs because other shops were trying to have us spend more. Sweetheart said if we met a minimum order cost they'll deliver the flowers for free for us since the service was 30 miles away, so our extended family members all ordered from them - some over the phone and some in person. A close relative of mine just past away recently. I didn't know how to order funeral flower arrangements or what is needed for a funeral. When I got into the store, they had a lot of standing arrangements and examples of how the ribbons will look like on the arrangements. Shirley was really accommodating to my family since I came with a lot of people and they had enough seats for us. The ribbons were all printed and looked very nice. They also had silk blankets and traditional burning stuff available and asked if we needed any of that. Really helpful since we didn't know what was necessary. Not upselling at all. We ended up order close to 30 arrangements with a very nice white casket spray and also 8 silk blankets. I was very nervous on how the flowers would look so I told Shirley to call me to come take a look at the flowers before they get sent out. Karl ended up calling me and followed up letting me know all the flowers were ready. They lined it up for us very nicely. Sadly I only took a picture of the casket spray. The next day at the service, everything was so perfect and the flowers were all lined up according to relationship. All in all, Shirley was accomadating, nice.... A sincere gratitude and appreciation from a well deserved, reasonably-priced vendor who served from the heart. This is a long overdue GREAT REVIEW for Sweetheart as I have used them before and have ALWAYS RECEIVED PERFECT FLAWLESS service. This time, I called Sweetheart on Tuesday for flowers to be delivered on Friday to a funeral home. Shirley provides appropriate recommendations and her prices were the most competitive. She also double and tripled checked and confirmed all spellings of names, delivery place, and assured me that everything will be delivered on time and told me not to worry in this time of grief. After arriving at the service early, I was able to see the various flowers and noticed that Sweetheart's floral arrangements are SIGNIFICANTLY better, bigger, and prices are 25% less. In one of the pictures, I have provided a side by side comparison of 2 floral spray -- the wreath one on left is from another florist at 25% higher, and the one on the right from Sweetheart-- bugger, better, and 25% less. One item of note is that, my friend who ordered the wreath at $110 delivered has actually ordered 2 wreaths... but only one was delivered. This is what I'm scared of the most when comes to "online" florists... has this been a bigger funeral where flowers were overflowing, no one would have noticed and who knows, that online florist could have gotten away scotch free. But with Sweetheart, not only they would never mix up on these important items, Shirley also assured me that they will deliver all items to the right place, and on time. And of course they came through. I am really really happy with Sweetheart. They serve from the heart and they are thorough, professional and they know their flowers. They believe charging reasonable prices to establish long term relationships. I have used them off and on for over 10 years now and they have always provided excellent flawless service. Disclaimer: I don't know Mr. Yu or anyone at this florist. 1. You want good value? Especially for funeral or events? This is the place. I'll explain later. 2. They speak and write Chinese (come handy when you have Chinese friends receiving flowers) 3. Very well mannered, polite and seems diligent (won't know until I see the flowers) So I was given many florist names to order some flowers for a funeral, I also went online and Yelp. To give you an example, one place I called, show a $99.95 on their websites, and this is recommended by the family who holds the funeral so there were already 20 orders according to the guy and he charges me $13 for the delivery, $13 for writing a banner with names and stuff. I was like, huh? Sweetheart Florist website also show bunch of choices, so I picked one that's got more flowers and better looking for $80. And Mr. Yu said even though they are in China town, they won't charge delivery to Colma (I assume it's consider SF) and no extra charges on anything, even wrote the banner in Chinese. Name banners were free and included. I'm a dude... I think flowers are really just a polite gesture, it needs not to be fancy. Even for my wife... flowers die... can't never figure out why we have to pay so much. So you want good value, try this place. read more
