I've been going here since 2012, found it on yelp and it was most nearby to my house. Experience with routine dental work like cleanings has been mostly positive, but they fumbled when it came to larger items. Would be giving 3 stars but my girlfriend had a really bad experience, causing us both to seek new dentists, so docking them one for that. Would recommend for routine dental checkups, but avoid for large or complicated procedures, especially ortho.
Cleanings are straightforward and Dr Yuan does a great job.
Soon after coming here, I had my first filling ever with Dr. Pham. Process was fine. Months later however, I had to get another filling in the exact same spot with Dr Yuan. I was suspicious at this point that they messed up the first filling and had to redo, but no biggie. They also had some billing issues with insurance for this one, but resolved it so again no sweat. Their mediocrity was showing but the job got done.
Years later in 2017, my retainer stopped fitting due to my negligence in wearing it, so I asked about getting a new one or fixing up some of the teeth with Invisalign. I went with invisalign.
This was a mistake, Dr Yuan came off as very inexperienced in this area, and it ended up as a large waste of time and money (probably for the both of us) He seemed to honestly be trying very hard, but didn't have the skills/experience with ortho. It was like watching the interns at my work try and complete a project they've never worked on before.
Had an initial snafu with the aligners not fitting and having to switch brands from clearconnect to invisalign, which put it off to a weird start.
With invisalign, I agreed I didn't need a appointment to go over the plan since we already had with clearconnect and I trusted it would be similar. Unfortunately the invisalign plan called for shaving the teeth to thin them, which Dr. Yuan sprung on me when I came in to get the aligners. The surprise tooth thinning caught me off guard, and I regret not pushing back and asking to review the plan.
After completing the treatment, my bite was off, so we did another round, and the bite was still off. At this point I'm left out of 2700 bucks and a year of dealing with aligners for a downgraded set of teeth. I just hope the thinning wasn't a terrible mistake since that is irreversible.
Again he tried hard, so not terrible, but really amateur execution.
I have to dock another star for how they treated my girlfriend. They pushed her into getting an unnecessary 1,000 set of preventative fillings, selling it as being covered by her insurance. When they confronted her with a bill a year later she was obviously not happy.
They had mishandled the insurance, booking it under the wrong code, and did not notify my girlfriend of the problem until a year later. Her conversation with Dr Yuan and the way he handled it was hugely surprising to me, as I had thought he was a good person. Really came off as a scam. I had only got fillings once before, but she had a few with her family dentist and explained she was floored by how bad the experience was here. Guessing her review will be a 1 star.
Once Dr Yuan's character was revealed, It made me very concerned for the state of my teeth, though hopefully the shadiness stops at the front desk and doesn't make it to the chair. I am getting a second opinion from an Ortho and will update review based on his/her thoughts.
TL;DR great for cleanings, shady selling and billing practices, amateur at ortho
