Dr. Yuan runs a small solo practice and does everything himself: x-rays, cleaning, fillings, etc. He is gentle, patient, and really listens. His front office staff are responsive and kind. His dental assistants are there when he needs them, and quiet and unobtrusive otherwise. Dr. Yuan's primary focus is simple: to get everything in your mouth functioning just the way it should while feeling as comfortable as possible. While the office is closed on Tuesdays, Dr. Yuan sees patients on Saturday mornings. My husband and I have never had trouble being seen for urgent issues or scheduling regular cleanings. (In fact, he has personally responded by phone to follow-up when we've left a message on his days off.) I've been going here since 2012, found it on yelp and it was most nearby to my house. Experience with routine dental work like cleanings has been mostly positive, but they fumbled when it came to larger items. Would be giving 3 stars but my girlfriend had a really bad experience, causing us both to seek new dentists, so docking them one for that. Would recommend for routine dental checkups, but avoid for large or complicated procedures, especially ortho. Cleanings are straightforward and Dr Yuan does a great job. Soon after coming here, I had my first filling ever with Dr. Pham. Process was fine. Months later however, I had to get another filling in the exact same spot with Dr Yuan. I was suspicious at this point that they messed up the first filling and had to redo, but no biggie. They also had some billing issues with insurance for this one, but resolved it so again no sweat. Their mediocrity was showing but the job got done. Years later in 2017, my retainer stopped fitting due to my negligence in wearing it, so I asked about getting a new one or fixing up some of the teeth with Invisalign. I went with invisalign. This was a mistake, Dr Yuan came off as very inexperienced in this area, and it ended up as a large waste of time and money (probably for the both of us) He seemed to honestly be trying very hard, but didn't have the skills/experience with ortho. It was like watching the interns at my work try and complete a project they've never worked on before. Had an initial snafu with the aligners not fitting and having to switch brands from clearconnect to invisalign, which put it off to a weird start. With invisalign, I agreed I didn't need a appointment to go over the plan since we already had with clearconnect and I trusted it would be similar. Unfortunately the invisalign plan called for shaving the teeth to thin them, which Dr. Yuan sprung on me when I came in to get the aligners. The surprise tooth thinning caught me off guard, and I regret not pushing back and asking to review the plan. After completing the treatment, my bite was off, so we did another round, and the bite was still off. At this point I'm left out of 2700 bucks and a year of dealing with aligners for a downgraded set of teeth. I just hope the thinning wasn't a terrible mistake since that is irreversible. Again he tried hard, so not terrible, but really amateur execution. I have to dock another star for how they treated my girlfriend. They pushed her into getting an unnecessary 1,000 set of preventative fillings, selling it as being covered by her insurance. When they confronted her with a bill a year later she was obviously not happy. They had mishandled the insurance, booking it under the wrong code, and did not notify my girlfriend of the problem until a year later. Her conversation with Dr Yuan and the way he handled it was hugely surprising to me, as I had thought he was a good person. Really came off as a scam. I had only got fillings once before, but she had a few with her family dentist and explained she was floored by how bad the experience was here. Guessing her review will be a 1 star. Once Dr Yuan's character was revealed, It made me very concerned for the state of my teeth, though hopefully the shadiness stops at the front desk and doesn't make it to the chair. I am getting a second opinion from an Ortho and will update review based on his/her thoughts. TL;DR great for cleanings, shady selling and billing practices, amateur at ortho Follow up: Had to get a round of ortho to fix everything from culver family denistry. 7 years later and still dealing with the fallout. read more

They had the dental hygienist clean my teeth and afterwards declared I needed deep cleaning which would have cost me approx $300 after insurance. The dentist only spoke to me for less than 5 mins and disappeared. When I went back to Dr. Yuan, he cleaned and assessed my teeth/gums and said I didn't need a deep cleaning at this time and to just monitor me at usual visits. Dr. Yuan, Dr. Pham and and the entire team took great care of my daughter. She went in for a dental exam, cleaning and to get one of her baby tooth pulled as it wasn't falling out on it's own. My daughter was so comfortable with them that I was able to leave to get coffee next door (you know, self care :)). Before I left, they explained to my daughter what they were going to do and that further alleviated any anxiety she may have had. Less than an hour, I was called back to get her. She didn't even feel any pain and even packed her tooth with some dental goodies. Her techniques are so gentle I never had a visit where I didn't want to go back. Actually, I love it there so much I always get excited to go back. Her calming personality gets my mind off the procedure and before you know it, I'm done! Especially if you have kids, I would recommend Dr. Pham. Both my husband and I are so shocked seeing these 2 negative reviews. It has been exactly one year since we both went to Dr.Yuan and became his patients, and I am now in the middle of my invisalign. According to our experience, every time we visited, Dr. Yuan and his staff were ALWAYS professional, nice and caring about patients. There was never a "fraud" or "over billing"; instead, Dr. Yuan helped my husband a lot on solving some serious problems about his teeth. Every time we were treated so nicely and patiently! I agreed with Diana's review: if a patient had any doubt about Dr.Yuan and another dentist's opinion, at least he or she should look for a third opinion. Tuesday night I lost one pair of my invisalign trays (so stupid, I left them on a dining table in a restaurant and they were dumped by a server when I turned back). On Wednesday Dr.Yuan and his assistant made an emergency appointment for me immediately----he was always fully booked but he arranged everything to fix my own mistake----and Dr. Yuan spent more than 40 minutes on my routine Invisalign check, adjustment and gave me new pairs of trays to wear. I have zero doubt but fully trust Dr.Yuan and all his assistants. We are so glad to find him and Culver Family Dentistry. read more

Bad experience here. These people are not transparent and dishonest. In the beginning when I started coming here, Dr. Yuan was oddly promoting a lot of services that could be done. I didn't like doing something that seemed unnecessary so I brushed them all off. Then one day, he recommended me to fill up surface abrasions for my teeth because they had a slight potential of becoming cavities. He provided me a quote and assured me this was covered by insurance. I asked to think about it, then came back in a few weeks and confirmed with him again if it was covered, then proceeded with the filling appt. ONE YEAR LATER - The receptionist switched to a new person. She casually brings up when I come in: Oh hey, on top of the $500 copay you paid last year, you need to now pay us an extra $500 because it turns out this isn't covered by insurance. We've been having this issue with some people. What? They didn't tell me anything for a year? I confront Dr Yuan about this. He says he can't "keep up with all the codes and regulations" and shrugs. Well that's nice, that means every time you get a service done here it's prob risky that it won't be covered by insurance because "they can't keep up with all the codes and regulations." This caused me to do a lot of calling, each phone call avg 40 min with my insurance company to figure things out. In the end, my claim is escalated and the insurance company flat out says this is just obviously not covered by my plan and my dentist shouldn't have recommended me to do this based on false pretense it was covered. They tell me to file a grievance with them so they can dispute with the dentist. Not sure who to believe, but since there was already no transparency with Dr Yuan, I strongly believe there is some shadiness going on here. I feel like these people at Culver Family Dentistry are the type to try to push you to do all these unneeded types of services, not really caring if it might be covered or not by insurance. read more
