I've been a patient at Formosa for a couple of years. Everything is by far the most organized and efficient and professional office, compared with ones I went before. I've never called insurance to figure out my out-of- pocket pay or any bill problems (thank you, Matthew, if I get your name correctly). No over sell and no side random products they ask you to buy. Recently I've got some issues after deep cleaning. They've done the best to help me, with referral or setting up appointments as early as they can. I had to go to the office quite often, and I can tell it's their lunch break but they try to fit me in. Dr Alexander Chang is a word-class dentist and the only one in SoCal that could help a very difficult case of former olympic athlete dental trauma, with multiple teeth broken/missing etc. and give him back functionality and smile. Staff is always very welcoming. Dentist and Hygienist always do their best to make you feel comfortable and have all your questions answered. I was persistent with my questions and finally got a referral for second opinion with outside Oral Surgeon covered by my insurance. The office is always so well kept and very clean, sanitized! Brightly lit too. The hygienists really do their best to help me maintain my teeth. They ran out of goodie bag at one of my visits but the last two, they always have goodies bags! I have not had any serious treatment done besides 2x/year maintenance. The location is pretty convenient in Irvine with plenty of parking during weekend days. I always book my appointment early during weekdays to avoid all the shopping traffic from late morning into the night all day every day. read more

I went for my first appointment in June of 2025 and have wanted to write this review ever since. I had an absolutely horrific experience with a previous dentist I tried, who specifically tried to recommend both cosmetic and functional procedures all at once to make $5000 upfront. She tried to push me by saying scary things about how things could go wrong, and if I hadn't been under the care of a capable family friend for most of my life, I might have believed her. It scared me off dentists for a year. Dr. Emily Liu at Formosa Dental Arts really gave me the opposite experience. She was very conservative in her estimates of what work needed to be done, thorough in her evaluation of the teeth without using scare tactics, and even nerded out a bit about current research to give me more information about my own teeth. I loved speaking with her and found her office staff professional, friendly, and kind. A dependable dentist is a true gem. Dr. Chang has been my dentist for 8 years. I think the minimal turn over of staff at his office speaks volumes about the type of person he is. Ryan is my dental hygienist and he is the person I interact with most. He does excellent work as well and keeps me updated about the things that I need to watch out for. When something does arise related to my teeth, it's so nice to know that I can count on someone like Dr. Chang. He has really steady hands. He is precise but at the same time non-intrusive. His level of professionalism is just on another level. In the 8 years, Dr. Chang has never recommended an unnecessary procedure. He will take the time to explain everything in detail if you have questions. This is such a contrast from all my other dental office experiences before. I have PPO insurance, which is what is accepted at his office. I believe he speaks mandarin and if I had to pay cash for dental care, I honestly would trust Dr. Chang's recommendations. read more

I moved to Irvine last year and needed to find a new dentistry. After a few quick searches I found Formosa Dental Arts with great reviews and it's only few minutes drive away from me. I called to make an appointment and got a call back saying I can go in same day. From prior experience I was never able to get appointments so quickly, so I was very glad I could get my check up done. I arrived at my appointment time and waited a couple minutes in the waiting room. I filled out the forms online so I didn't have to fill it out in the waiting room. It's nice that I had the option to digitally fill them out instead of writing things on a clip board. I was then called inside and seated on the dental chair for a good 10+ minutes before anything happened. Got my x-rays done which felt a little more cumbersome but good thing these are only done no more than once a year. I love how I was able to see the x-rays on a TV screen right in front of me as it happened. In the past x-rays were in a manila folder where only the dentist could see. Waited another 5 minutes and then Dr. Emily introduced herself and did my routine check up / teeth cleaning. She was very nice and detailed and explained to me what was going to happen. We talked about my problem tooth and the plan moving forward. Afterwards a dental hygienist did the polishing and flossing. This specific dental visit took about 1.5 hours. Overall I would say it was a good experience. I do wish there was a goody bag at the end (like my prior dentists had given me!) but that's not a dealbreaker :) As I was leaving, I asked about the quarterly raffle and am excited to see if I could win!
