Back when I went to FGCU & even for a couple years after, this place was one of my go-to spots in the Town Center. They're relatively efficient, the food always comes out fresh & they serve some of the best fast food items, in my opinion. I like that they're located on the outer part of GCTC closest to the university. There's plenty of parking available & the tables inside are more than enough for any size party. After years of not visiting this location, it was good to see they're still consistent. The burgers are some of my favorite because they closely resemble smash burgers. The patties get a nice char from being pressed which gives them a good little crunch. These thin, yet juicy, patties are placed in a buttery bun & the simple toppings really tie it all together. If you haven't had one of their burgers you're missing out. A must-have from the menu is the cheese curds. These fried bites of perfection are made with white & yellow cheddar that almost melt in your mouth. Whether you eat them by themselves or use them as a burger topping you really can't go wrong. The custard is also top tier. Creamy, fluffy & plenty of ways to customize, I could eat it by the gallon. My personal favorite is using their signature root beer to make root beer floats. Every time I visit the employees are friendly & helpful. The dining room & soda/condiment areas are usually kept tidy, as well. The restaurant was very clean, and the workers were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. Prices are good, close to home and great for nights when cooking is not something I feel like doing. Stopped here on Friday night for a Culver's frozen custard. They had us pull to the side with many other cars. We watched them deliver orders to all the cars waiting, other than ours. After waiting 21 minutes, we pulled up to the window and inquired what happened to our order. They were already closing the store and breaking down the custard machine. We spoke with Savannah who was very apologetic. They said they had the order made but didn't know who to deliver it to in the parking lot so they threw it away. They never attempted to find who the order was for. We were never given a receipt, a number or anything from the person at the window. Not a good experience. We did get a refund, but that wasn't what we wanted. We wanted custard!!! read more

Fries are crinkle cut and crispy. We opted not to get the custard this time. Though we do enjoy their caramel cashew the most. It's hard to try to rate this Culver's experience as a "job well done" when there was a lot of confusion regarding my trip in... only because this is the first time I've ever been in a Culver's and ordered a meal (last time I was in one was 10 years ago with other people and we all ordered the ice cream thing Culver's sells). I do not know protocol or anything else relating to upcharges. My trip in was with one other person. We originally had a coupon to use. It was the "2 double burgers for $8" deal, or something to that nature. As I was standing in line, we looked at the other coupons we had. Maybe we should try the concrete mixer too? As we decided, we looked closer at the coupons. Welp; the entire stack of offerings expired last month. Instead of getting out of line and leaving, we figured we'd stick it out and try the single burger instead, with no dessert. Once we got to the person taking our order, things got tricky. Asked for two single butter burgers, "the $3.99 one" we said. The cashier rang in one double butter burger for $5.99 thinking we wanted 1 of the double burgers. We tried making sure that was going to be the single burger and the cashier said no, we were ordering one double burger because we asked for 2 burgers. Even though we asked for 2 of the 3.99 burgers. She automatically started charging us for the upgrade because we said "2 burgers". We said we didn't want a double burger, there are two of us, so we would like one single burger, each. So the order should say two single burgers. Cashier rings up a double burger again. Asks us if we want anything else. We asked her to please change it to 1 single burger and 1 single burger. Order total is two single burgers. After finally putting the order in, correctly, the cashier asked if we wanted anything else, like cheese on it. We asked if it was extra, and she said no. We ordered cheese. Cashier asked if we wanted toppings on it and we asked what did it come with? She said anything we want. So we asked for tomatoes, lettuce, pickles.. the usual burgers have. She starts ringing up all the extra toppings and each thing is an additional thirty cents. We asked why there was a charge for them and she said we asked for the toppings. So the next step was our asking that she please remove the toppings as we didn't expect they'd ring up to almost a dollar extra on each burger. She took them off. Aren't basic toppings usually free in other places, or built into the price of the sandwich? After asking for a water cup, each, we ended up paying $8.50 after tax. This is no fries, no combo, no extras. Just one single butter burger with cheese, times two. Honestly, I know Culver's is pretty hyped up as a decent place to eat, but the burgers weren't something amazing. Even if we had a great ordering experience, that wouldn't change the fact it still felt and tasted like a fast food burger. Sure, the buns were buttered and grilled and the burger had some crispness to it, but it was just a normal quick meal you'd find at any drive through diner. Unfortunately, it wasn't a lunch I'd recreate again any time soon. It was a stop because I was in the area and decided to try it because I'd never had the hot meal there before. I really wanted to like going here. A friend had hyped me up to this place, But it was so disappointing. The cheese curds were OK as a side. It was basically little deep fried nuggets of breaded cheese curds. The Burger I got on the other hand had no flavor other then the greasy buttery taste. It lacked seasoning of any kind including salt. I had ordered the one on the sourdough bread which also came with diced onions and some sort of sauce on it. Everything is supposedly made fresh but it was just so greasy that the sourdough bread lacked any crusty crispiness even though it looked well toasted. It was just several layers of different textures which all Just had a greasy taste. I probably wouldn't return here just based on the fact I didn't like the sandwich that I got. I will say that the service was very good and the employees were very friendly. No complaints in that department. If my travels ever did bring me another Culvers, I would definitely be willing to try something else. However I would not go out of my way to return here again. We had just landed at RSW and were in desperate need of food. Good old reliable Culver's came through in the clutch. We ordered from the drive through. The girl taking our order was very efficient at her job. After reading our order on the screen, she also made sure our order was exactly what we wanted. To be real-- the food isn't amazing, but it's something you can rely on to be consistent regardless of the Culver's that you go to. We had the double butterburger. It was cooked as it should be and had all the necessary toppings. Of course we had an order of fries. We choose to eat them with ketchup, it's the best way. Now the part that you should never miss out on is...the custard! We got a short chocolate ice cream with peanut butter sauce mixed in. It is truly the best thing they have to offer on their menu. On a recent visit to FGCU in order to tour the university, our group stopped in Culver's for some frozen custard and fried cheese curds. We Wisconsin peeps know this place all too well, and we love this place. However, my romanticized memories of this place in my Wisconsin years didn't live up to the reality of this particular visit. I had a mint chip shake and fried cheese curds. The shake was okay. The curds are so much better up in Wisconsin. I can't put my finger on why that's true. It seems like they're building more Culver's (originally based out of the Dairyland) on the gulf side of Florida to cater to all of those Midwestern snowbirds and retirees. I'm not one to usually write reviews but this place has been a staple in my visits home but something has changed recently. Recently the work ethic of their employees has gone downhill. My past several visits have left me dissatisfied. Tonight my husband and I were literally the only indoor customers with a few cars in the drive-through. I feel very bad for the only hard working person in there (Noah). He was taking orders and delivering food while a congregation of 5 other employees was all crowded by the drive-through. The dining room was filthy, and again he was the only one who attempted to clean it. Several employees were sitting in booths on their phones. The management needs to step in and do something, there are too many workers for a few customers (still slow service) and one poor employee is carrying the load. We were out late so we went for a fast meal at Culvers. We have been to Culvers in many parts of the coutry, including Indiana, Michigan, Arizona and Texas. This was our first time at one in Florida. It did not seem much different and the food was about the same. But somehow it seemed just a bit less good and I have no idea why. My wife had Chicken strips as a combo with fries and a drink. I had both a pork tenderloin sandwich and a double cheese Butterburger. Maybe it was our mood, maybe it was not as good as our last visit to a Culver's, which was in Arizona.
