This is exactly why I love re-visiting local spots I reviewed before, you get to learn the "house style" and appreciate it for what it is. On my first visit, I mentioned I didn't like the dogs too well done. But I came back, realized this is just the Matt's way, and adjusted. The second time, it clicked--and it was great. Both times, the food was fresh. This time, I also got a warm welcome and a better understanding of why this place has been a neighborhood favorite for so many years. When you embrace it for what it is, you really appreciate it. Service was great, food was great, ambience was great. I was craving a couple of dogs, came in, got exactly what I wanted, and left happy. -keep doing your thing, Matt's.

This has been on my list to visit for a while, because I pass it every time I'm coming back from Fort Myers. so glad I finally stopped by to check it out, and yup, it definitely won't be my last time eating here! I liked how quick and easy it was to order at the counter inside, and the overhang outside seating for hot days. The food is all cooked fresh and comes to your piping hot. The fries are AMAZING. I liked the ability to try different sauces: the barbecue is probably my least favorite only because it was a little too sweet for me. The chipotle was the most versatile. The cheese sauce was good, and I liked that it was heated up. We finished off our meal with ice cream because why not?? And it was creamy and cold and sweet and everything you want sitting outside on a summer day. Just writing this review makes me wanna go back again! Will definitely be recommending Matt's Red Hots to everyone I know.

Old fashioned family owned restaurant that makes delicious hamburgers, hotdogs, fries , onion rings fresh to order with any topping you can imagine. Prices are great pretty close to what you would pay to scream into a kiosk and still get your order wrong after repeating it numerous times. Or sitting behind the car where their food order must be a life decision or they are ordering for the entire neighborhood judging by the amount of time it takes for them to place their order. Why not pull up and talk to one of their friendly staff and get your order correct, made fresh and dine inside or on the patio or take all this goodness to go. Oh and did I tell you they have ice cream too? The burgers taste like the best cook out you ever went to, the fries are hand cut and they have authentic Chicago dogs. Ditch the kiosk and head to Matt 's ...

Quick and easy service. Both dogs were great. Fries did not disappoint. But, the onion rings seemed to retain and leak so much oil which led me to throw out more than half. Other than that, I'd go back.

Looking for a nice Chicago Dog, I was looking forward to eating here but sadly I was dissapointed. The quality of hot dogs they're serving missed the spot. I certainly don't know the brand they're pushing but I can tell you the hot dog tasted like just filler with no good tasting meat. They need some of the other better brands of hot dogs. Could have been a much better experience, and I wish it were.

Not the review I expected to leave. Walked in to order, the place was filled with smoke from the grill and it had to be at least 85° inside. Ordered a foot-long hotdog with mustard and chili, small fry, and a Logan berry drink The hotdog was over-cooked, and the french fries were the bottom of the basket and burnt. They replace the french fries after I brought it to their attention. The hot dog was so-so, the chili was very tomatoey. I felt bad for the workers with all the smoke and heat.

Went on a Tuesday around five. I ordered a hotdog with Mac and cheese and chili cheese fries to share with mom. Mom got the hot dog with chili cheese. I liked my hot dog is was hot creamy and delicious. They have lots of toppings to choose from like pickles tomatoes and the usual condiments of Mayo and ketchup. There is outside seating which is recommended because it's hot AF and Smokey inside. They offer free soda refills. I got onions rings to go and they were bad. Probably tasted good when they were fresh. In total I paid $29. I must mention they also sell burgers.

Checked out Matt's during my time down in Florida. Sought this place out because I like drive inn restaurants for a quick meal and this checked the box. I got a chili dog, they serve the brand Sahlen hot dogs which must be popular down there. It was a meaty chili on a foot long dog, grilled in front of you, had the nice charcoal taste to it. My wife got a cheese dog with onion on it, she enjoyed it. We also split an order of fries which looked hand-cut and enjoyable as well. It's counter service, place your order and find one of their many picnic tables scattered around, they have some covered if you need a break from the sun. If you're looking for a good hot dog in the area this is your spot.

Local Hot spot... the food is delicious you can call ahead and order usually ready in 5-10 min...It's always hot and fresh made to order just the way you like it. The onion rings are the best in town...You won't need a loan to order here

This place absolutely rocks. Killer dogs and onion rings. Priced right. Old school ambiance, with super-fast service. Like my favorite drive-ins at home.

First thing our group noticed was how clean inside was! And being that it was lunch hour on a Thursday afternoon, quite busy and still tidy! BTW we also found the men's & women's bathrooms to be in tip-top cleanly shape, and in a restaurant, that says a lot! You can also see into the kitchen from the dining area and it too was swept, clean and stocked. There are high-tops, low tops and a few booths for any type of seating comfort you choose. Since it was "seat yourself" we chose a low top for our party of four. Fresh brewed iced tea and Pepsi's to start. We all ordered and waited perusing the table menus showing daily specials, happy hour specials (beer and wine) plus fish platters. Great options and something for everyone. Our friends ordered the classic cheeseburgers with fries, I had the grilled chicken melt and my hubby opted for breakfast, the pecan waffle and a side of bacon. Our friend's burgers came out picture perfect; fluffy bun, generous lettuce, tomato and onion and crispy hot fries. They said it was probably one of the best burgers in the area. My husband's pecan waffle was crisp but fluffy on the inside, not dry. There was a light powdered sugar dusting and an ample amount of pecans. The bacon was crisp, not greasy and nice long strips as if baked not fried. My chicken melt was delicious! Grilled chicken breast, bacon, tomato, Swiss cheese and a "special sauce" all toasted between crisp buttery rye bread. I opted for onion rings and they were stellar. You know, where the outside is crisp but the onion is cooked translucent so that when you bite the onion ring the onion doesn't slide out in one long run?!! Perfect!! Our service was exceptional and the food presentation was great. Kudos to the owners for the service and quality effort they have put into this establishment, it truly shows. This will most likely become our "go-to" local spot!! Next review will be the Coney chili dog!

The atmosphere alone makes it worth checking out. I've been twice now, and the first visit was so good that I brought friends back the second time. The first time, I had the white hot chicken special, which was crispy, flavorful, and really well done. I also got a coffee, which was solid. I would've ordered it again on my second visit, but they were out of espresso and only had decaf available. The food on the second visit was still good, just not quite as strong as the first time. The staff has been consistently friendly on both visits, which I appreciated. That said, there were a couple of service hiccups each time, our food was brought out without silverware, and when we were told there was a table ready outside, there wasn't anyone available to direct us to it, so we had to guess and hope we weren't taking the wrong table. Food timing can also be a bit slow, so it's worth planning ahead if you have somewhere to be afterward. Overall, it's a really enjoyable brunch spot with great views and a fun atmosphere, just with a few service details that could be smoothed out.

I was very excited to give it a try. Friday, March 27th my wife and two friends left Sebring driving the two to Fort Myers to go check out the Clam Bake for some long awaited delicious seafood especially looking forward to some fried Ipswich clams. Entering The Clam Bake, looking around, I saw a very nice variety of Boston Sports teams pictures and memorabilia on the walls. The waiter was prompt though not very personable. The waiters response to the two questions was as i was asking stupid questions. Regarding the food. I ordered a salad with Russian dressing and received Thousand Island dressing. I ordered Fried whole belly clams and a baked potato The baked potato seemed to be a day old left over baked potato reheated. Instead of clams I received Fried Oysters. When I asked they assured me they were clams. My wife ordered Fried Sea Scallops with a baked Sweet potato. She received what looked to have been frozen Sea Scallops (that were just Ok) and a "half" of a small Sweet Potato. I ate the salad as Thousand Island Dressing still tastes good, though I prefer Russian. It would have been nice for the waiter to let me know. I ate the potato as I have many times had cut up left over baked potatoes as home fries, and they are good. I did not eat the oysters. A bus person came by and cleared our dishes., did not ask if my dinner was ok as the oysters were still on my plate. Over all opinion: The decor is New Englandish, Service over all ok. The food is ok. Just don't expect the quality of the seafood to be anywhere as good as what you can find in New England. I will not be returning.
