Culver's is a very good chain usually, but this location was lackluster to say the least. They got 4/5 of our orders wrong, and put hardly any toppings on our food. Food 4/5 - I'm not a big fast food person but sometimes you just have to. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The salad ingredients were fresh which isn't always the case with fast food salads. The ice cream flavor was just enough to hit the sweet tooth. Service / Ambiance 4/5 - The staff was welcoming and service was fast. We got our food within 5-10 minutes of ordering. Being originally from Chicago and having a cabin up in Hayward, a visit to Wisconsin is only a yearly occurrence now that I live in Los Angeles. One of the highlights of the 6 hour drive up is a stop at Culver's, another once a year occurrence for me. It is so sad to be so disappointed by something you only get once a year. We stopped at Culver's today during our drive up. We ordered in the drive thru, starting with butter burgers with everything on them. The burger was so dry I had to choke it down. Just a bun, patty, two pickles, red onion and some ketchup and mustard. I also ordered cheese curds, the order I look forward to most. I asked if they had marinara sauce because the combination of the two is the best. They confirmed they did and I was elated (not all Culver's have Mariana FYI). Well, once we got our food guess what, no sauce was in our bag, so another food item I had to choke down. So dry. Also, marinara is listed on the receipt so no excuse to not have it We ended with chocolate malts, with extra malt. They tasted just like chocolate shakes, couldn't taste a hint of malt in them. In addition to all of this, they didn't give us any napkins in our to go bag, in the drive thru (where napkins are very needed). They forgot to give us the water was asked for and our bill was almost $40, for an extremely below average experience. The carelessness is inexcusable. I hate to say it, but my tradition of getting Culver's during my once a year trip has officially ended. Sadly, this isn't the first time I have been disappointed with Culver's during the past few yearly trips. Looks like it's Wendy's from now on! read more

This is one of the best Culver's I've visited! The staff was friendly and we got out food fast. It was hot and very tasty. They have a nice outdoor dining spot and the indoor seats were very clean. We love to stop at Culvers when in Wisconsin. Bleach smell was strong by the front doors, which corners the bathrooms. So we thought, this place is super clean. Food was delicious, as we knew it would be. Service was great. Here's the thing, the only thing we saw that was clean, was the bathrooms? They had just opened, so place should have been spotless. Almost every table was dirty, seats had crumbs on them. the coke machine obviously didn't get wiped down from the night before. Whoever was supposed to close the night before or open that day, really dropped the ball in the dining room. read more

I feel like my Culver's reviews are all the same, but it just speaks to the quality and consistency of the chain. Unsurprisingly the Mauston Culver's was clean, bright, the staff courteous and friendly, the bathroom was tidy and in good working order, and the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I've taken to ordering Team Scoopie meals because you get almost as much food as an adult combo plus a scoop of custard for a couple bucks less. That's my kind of deal. I knew we were grilling out burgers later that night so I opted for the two-piece chicken tenders meal. The breading is a little crumbly and got all over, but that effect would probably be lessened if I just bit into the tender like a normal person instead of pulling off bite-sized pieces. I got the BBQ sauce which was thick and on the sweeter side. The flavor of the day was Cookie Dough Craving and the Mauston Culver's does not mess around - everyone I saw with a scoop had a PILE of cookie dough on top. I ordered my kid's lunch with the intention of getting one of those luscious scoops, but as usual I was thwarted by the generous portions and could not eat another bite. Serious bummer, but I can keep my custard coupon and use it at another time. It's been this way since I was a kid, and it's a system I truly appreciate. read more

I came at the suggestion of another yelper. I'll be back if I pass through again. I have never been to Culver's, or even heard of it. But they are all over here in the Wisconsin area. Fast food, but a step up from McDonalds I guess. I had a summer salad special and was very happy with the choice. It was very good. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoors had umbrellas. Nice. It was busy as expected at noon, all the tables were dirty and I asked a woman if she could wipe it down. She acted annoyed but did it. We ordered, I had the cod sandwich. Since the top bun was off I noticed there was four little shreds of cheese. Since it cost $9 I asked Barb if I could have one with cheese. She then said there is cheese on the one I was holding, I pointed and counted out the shreds and she just stared at me and asked with an attitude what I wanted. I then asked for a refund as I saw she could care less. Some other man that worked there hassled me but eventually gave me a refund. I will happily take my business elsewhere.... read more

Every year I drive from NYC to Minneapolis, one of the things I must do before I leave the midwest is of course....go to Culvers. What makes this place different from all the others you will encounter? Well, it's the largest damn Culvers in the country! Which isn't saying much but hey, there's plenty of parking, it's right off the highway, and being a flagship store, I would assume the standards of service are more rigorously reviewed here. If you're at a Culvers, all you need to know is BUTTER....BURGER. That's right, now all you gotta say is 'Murica. Get that burger cooked with butter, enjoy that greasy goodness, and wash it all down with a frozen custard because those are the highlights of the menu. While on a cross-country road trip, driving from Chicago to Akron, we got hungry and decided to find somewhere cheap (but good) to stop. Yelp pointed us to Culver's, and while we'd never heard of it before, we decided to stop. This ended up being a very good decision. I opted for a "ButterBurger" (which is basically a super-rich cheeseburger with a pickle on top) and some cheese curds, which were both excellent. I also tried the Culver's special root beer, which was definitely a cut above the usual Barq's. My two friends ordered a burger, fries, and a shake and a chicken salad (which was a very large portion), and both of them reported that their meals were quite good as well. The prices were reasonable, with the bill coming to a little under $30 for the three of us. All in all, it's probably not worth driving out for - but if you're on the road and looking for a great, quick bite, Culver's is definitely the move. read more

We, three merry Wisconsin-based friends recently visited this Culvers for an afternoon treat. We were first impressed by the bathrooms' privacy and Spanish-style masonry that the Mauston area is known for. After enjoying our curds and ice cream we took a walk to the neighboring Red Geranium gift shop. As a warning to readers, don't be fooled by the inviting appearance of the flower boxes and adirondack chairs that the front porch of the Red Geranium has to offer. The charming store was closed and were were instantly stung by their security hornets. We hobbled back into the Culvers as the sting wounds began to swell. It was there that we were offered ice, Benadryl ointment, bandaids, and free mango smoothie samples. It's places like these that warm the ice-tolerant hearts of three Scandinavian-Americans, and give the Midwest its charming reputation. Thank you, Culvers of Mauston. read more

Honestly, I had a great experience at culver's today. I got my food relatively quickly, even though CO-VID is around and we showed up with around 20 boy scouts. Food was great, and all employees had masks on. Whenever I go to a fast food restaurant, I like to sort of mess around with the employees. I asked an employee by the name "Brett" if the entire staff had to wear the same shoes. He answered by saying that there's a dress code and everyone has to wear similar black shoes. Culver's in Mauston is just about as good as every other Culver's. I can go to any Culver's along the same stretch of interstate and get the same food, same service, and the same quality of selection. To me, that makes a chain of "fast food" restaurants a staple. Unlike McDonald's, my experience at any Culver's is the same as the last and I never have to worry. Drive Thru: Service is slow, but each meal is made specifically to order, including the meats. The staff are always very kind and quick to rectify any mistakes in the order and the food is always piping hot. Dining Room: I've never been to a messy Culver's and this one is no exception. The staff inside are very courteous and quick to bring your meal to your table. Customer Service: Every time I've been to this location, there is someone on the floor for quality control that will stop by and ask how the meal is and if we'd like to try their famous custard. I've never had a bad experience with the staff. Complaints: Just like with every Culver's I have been to, the beef is often very greasy and the curds have too much breading. Neither of those have been enough to drive me away from eating at Culver's and I will likely continue eating at this chain for as long as I am a resident of Wisconsin. read more
