I dropped in for a Raspberry shake after working at Hononegeah High School as a soccer ref. The place was BUSY. Getting to it is a bit weird, you have to go on the frontage road past the gas station, and can't get to it directly from the main highway. Once you get in, it's standard Culvers. Cheerful people working there, everyone hustling, everyone polite. I walked in, used the bathroom (gotta wash the hands after shaking hands after the game) and ordered. It took a few minutes, but my shake came out and I was on my way. Good stuff! After running 5 miles, I needed that! I avoid this location now. One out of three burgers has something wrong. It wasn't always like this so I don't know what the issue is. if you ask for extra toppings they will put a gallon just to be rude. it was deliberate. The next time you might order a Culver's deluxe (deluxe means lettuce pickles onions tomato etc. ) and get nothing but two patties and ketchup. consistency is very difficult for these guys. Belvidere location is 10 times better . adults work at that location. read more

Had been away for awhile. No Culver's anywhere near through the whole trip. Finally got back and had a Culver's hamburger and coleslaw. Yup. Exactly as good as I remembered. As much of a difference as I had thought. Need to catch up on other menu items now. Looking forward to it. read more

Culver's is a nice family oriented place with a large menu of fast food, and surprisingly not fast food, like roast and mashed potatoes, and custard. I tend to stay with the kids menu and it is plenty plus it comes with dessert! I've had the chicken strips, which are very good, and comes with your choice of sauce. The cheeseburger is a butter burger and comes with your choice of toppings. The grilled cheese is also fabulous. The frozen custard rarely disappoints! Get a concrete, shake, sundae. It's all good and reasonably priced, plus the weekly shopper always has coupons! read more

LOVE Culver's and everything is has to offer. We come here very often and are always happily surprised by the staff! Sam went above and beyond to make sure our sundaes he made were perfect, and they were !!! They are the best. Food is always hot and fresh, never a long wait. The burgers are amazing, the custard is timeless, you cannot get it like that anywhere else. When people come to IL i always bring them here because it's a staple, and it offers something for everyone with the wide variety on the menu. From fried fish, burgers, ruben, salads and more there is something for everyone. It's definitely a family favorite! Ordered the North Atlantic Cod Sandwich and Fries at the Drive Thru. Reasonably quick service for as busy as they were (Full lot and a line at the Drive Thru). While the fish was was good, what the hell was the sauce they used? OMG! It had to be the most bland, runny, yucky ick ever. Ruined the sandwich. Crinkle cut fries were great as usual. The young lady who brought out the food to me was super. I have to deduct one star from my previous rating be cause of the horribly desperate attempt at tarter sauce. An hour and half after eating part of the sandwich, I had, shall we say, issues. They still are on my Best Fast Food List because of a long history of above average fast food and good service. Another misfire on a visit and they will drop another star and go to my Worst Fast Food List. UPDATE: March 2013. Well, tried the Cod sandwich again. Had one with tartar sauce and one without. Cough, gag and vomit. Fish was tasteless and fell apart, slid off the bun, had wilted lettuce, and the tarter sauce was, again, runny, dripping off the sandwich and tasted yucky. Couldn't finish either sandwich - sickening crap. I have to ask, "What the hell is going on with this location? How can you serve this disgusting #$%&." STILL, because of the outstanding Butter Burgers I had in the past, I can' t reduce the rating to 1 star....yet. BUT, they are removed from my Best list and fall to Worst list. read more

Love this place!! We came for Father's Day custard. It was pretty busy, but the staff handled it like pros. We had our orders placed immediately and within about 5 minutes, we had our treats. Everyone was happy. We were able to find a booth and enjoy our treats. I haven't had the chance to get other things from the menu, but I'll definitely go back for the ice cream. read more

Totally baffled by the other yelpers' opinions of Culver's -- I am a native Illinoisan who moved out of state and always love to pop into Culver's whenever I am back in the Midwest. There are few high quality fast casual food chains that rival Culver's greatness. Maybe my fellow Yelpers are ordering the wrong thing? I'll happily help you and them out. WHAT TO GET: - Butterburger with cheese (double, single, with crazy toppings, without them, it doesn't matter.. they are all delicious, but you also can't go wrong with a standard double with cheese!) -FROZEN CUSTARD. They always have a flavor the day or you can "create your own" -FROZEN LEMON ICE. Topped with fresh fruit in the summer is a classic Culver's treat -CHEESE CURDS. Have you heard of Wisconsin cheese? It's damn good. Get them. It costs extra, but they represent all that is glorious about Wisconsin dairy (and might give you a heart attack, but hey, you know what you're ordering) WHY CULVER'S IS AMAZING: your food is always made fresh to go, the buns are literally buttered and toasted (HEAVEN), the burgers melt in your mouth (HEAVEN!), the frozen custard is creamy and delicious, and the employees are almost always super courteous, friendly, and accommodating. Culver's is a classic Midwest treat, and frankly a trend I wish expanded beyond the center of the country. Great, seemingly natural fries, high quality ingredients, good prices, and the custard! Oh, the custard. Such a step up from ice cream in flavor, creaminess, and overall mouth feel. Couple all that with incredible customer service and you've got yourself a home run. Culver's really does feel like a family style restaurant. The establishment allows very young people to work there, which is great for those in the area looking for a first job. Even with the young age, these employees are trained well because they seem to make sure to do a quality job when taking orders, bussing tables, or cleaning up. It's great to see good work ethic and a front-of-the-house experience available to those at such a young age. As for the food, it's really quite delicious. I'm a fan of butterburgers with cheese and bacon, but many other options on the menu are delicious, such as the fish sandwiches. The cheese curds are also a gift from above and impossible to get wrong. Finally, we have the desserts. Concrete Mixers are a great version of custard with the toppings mixed throughout and while they tend to be more expensive they almost always are bigger in size. I like to stick with a one or two scoop cup (I feel like there's more ice cream than a cone) of the Flavor of the Day, which changes daily and is published on a quarter-sheet of paper every month. Great for planning out those days to visit Culver's to grab a snack and some custard! Anyway, this is another thing the Midwest got right and is something I also anticipate visiting next time I'm back in the Midwest. Highly recommend it to anyone passing through! Quality was a step up from a McDonalds or the like, and it had some interesting menu options, but that's about all I can say. We were here a couple days ago and received the wrong order. One would think this would have me giving them a poor review. However, no one ever gets everything perfect all the time. The difference between a good company that cares, and one that doesn't, is how they handle those situations. Culver's wrote me a hand signed apology and sent us coupons for replacement items. That is the type of company that will continue to get my business. Fast food, but food of excellent quality. Burgers made fresh, not frozen. And you can taste it. Burgers in all sorts of permutations and you can, of course, custom order. Side orders are likewise tasty and of good quality. Try their cole slaw, onion rings, French fries, etc. They also make excellent green beans, slightly el dente (but IMO with too many onions.) The roast beef dinner is a favorite. Even the mashed potatoes are made from scratch, not lumpy and taste heavenly on a cold winter day when you are too tired to cook. If you like custard, theirs is good. Root beer floats made with their custard are great. Quality overall at Culver's is consistently high and reliable. Staff are likewise a notch (at least) above other fast food places. Would recommend Culver's anytime. read more

I have usually always liked Culver's but unlike the other Yelper on here I had an awful experience one night where my whole order was messed up and did not feel like going back to the restaurant so I emailed their customer support and never got a reply back. I was pretty disappointed they don't look at their emails, and also at the fact the young staff frequently mess up orders and/or drop hairs into my custard. Unfortunate. read more
