We have dined at Road Dawg several times. It is a favorite. The food is excellent; plenty of menu choices; service is always good.

The food was amazing and delicious, a hometown restaurant with expensive restaurant flavors. I had a pork chop, it was cooked perfectly. Our server was extremely nice and efficient. The Road Dawg Family Restaurant is my dad's regular Thursday spot, and he brings me here every time I'm in town. Located right off the interstate, it has that classic highway diner feel. The main sign on the pole has definitely seen better days, and the place as a whole feels a bit run down. As you walk in, be careful of the trip hazard at the entrance--it's a bit uneven. It's a little "divey," but don't let that be a dealbreaker. It's just an observation, a reminder not to judge a book by its cover. Note to management: Some minor fixes could give it a little more curb appeal. Stepping inside, you'll see the main dining room and an old buffet area that I assume hasn't been used since COVID. It's all a bit dated, but clean and functional. They serve breakfast all day and have a full lunch and dinner menu as well. Even though it was a relatively busy Sunday morning, we were greeted and seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for our initial service. Almost before I could take a sip of my no-frills, bottomless cup of $3 coffee, our giant portions of breakfast arrived. It was an omelette kind of day for us. We placed a special order for my dad (he's got his usual), I got the Denver Omelette ($14) with jalapeños, and my stepmom ordered the Meat Eaters Omelette ($15). They opted for toast, and I got the pancakes, which were a meal in themselves. While the prices have increased significantly since my first visit, the large portions are big enough to share or take half home, which is exactly what we did. We were a little ignored and never asked if everything was as expected. We did, however, get coffee refills and eventually received the bill and some to-go boxes. Another note to management: The bell that incessantly rings every time someone comes or goes needs to go! By the time we left, I was anxious and extremely tired of the bell. I feel sorry for the employees who have to listen to that all day long! Overall, this place does a good and honest business. this was my first time at road dawg and i loved everything about it the food was awesome my server was so sweet and the environment overall was just such a family friendly restaurant. but i can't shake how hot it was. it was very hot i started sweating and thats just unpleasant. i dont prefer being hot while trying to enjoy my breakfast. but other than that i would 100% recommend dining here (as long as they get it more cool in there lol) read more

Excellent breakfast meals, lunch can be a hit or miss, as well as certain times for dinners. The boasted chicken is good, minus the hard biscuits. Service can also be a hit or miss. Depending on what time of the day you may arrive and who's working the floors. Some waitresses have their choice of whom they'll give great service to if per se it's a regular. read more

Came here to eat n order steak but it was brown beef ! then it was all cold n dint taste good at all we send it back order something Diferent n they said they will still charge for the other brown beef we send back cuz it was already made n told as that until they Brought out the new order we made !! Driving through the area and just stopped for gas and a quick bite- what a great surprise! I had bacon and eggs with toast and my husband the lumberjack with pancakes- it was fast and portions were immense. The classic 1970a cafe vibe was also an added plus. Stopped by for breakfast at 630 am on our way to Minneapolis. Plenty of parking, can accommodate RVs. Greeted right away, homey and clean. Server was pleasant and efficient! Food was good, plenty of coffee, she left a pot for us to be able to refill which was great. Prices were very reasonable, less than $30 for 3 adults. The only downside was loud bass sound from music being played at the Pub next door. Pub is open from 6am-2am. read more

We ate a late lunch at the Road Dawg a couple weeks ago. The food was just outstanding! I had probably the best patty melt I've ever had in years, and my husband said the same about his cheeseburger. The meat patties were so obviously handmade from fresh ground beef and were made to order and incredibly juicy. Mine was loaded with fried onions, and had melted Swiss on perfectly grilled rye bread. His cheeseburger had fried onions, lettuce, and "tomatoes that tasted like tomatoes". Our sandwiches were served with freshly made and hot battered French fries that were delicious. And the price was more than right! Our server was excellent and checked on us just enough to be spot-on yet not annoyingly ever-present (or worse, never there!), and while the restaurant is a bit dated, food quality and service are far more important. I've been coming to Road Dawg for at least 20 years. Since the prices have gone up the food quality has gone down. We had chicken fried steak and eggs. The steak was mealy and the gravy was sparse. The English muffins weren't toasted, just warm. The hash browns looked great but tasted nasty. Whatever they were fried in tasted bad. The kids had chocolate chip pancakes. They were hard to cut even with a sharp knife. When you pay $16 for chicken fried steak it should at least be a decent cube steak. I was very disappointed with our meal and at $60 for 2 adults and 2 autistic kids it should have been a lot better. it's sad but I doubt we will return. read more

Me, my dad, and my grandpa have been going to Road Dawg for over a decade now and I couldn't recommend it enough. The food comes out really fast and tastes great every time. The waitresses are one of the best things about Road Dawg. They definitely know how to talk with customers and make it feel like the old American dining experience. Great place to stop while traveling through the area. Burger with fries is $10 and much better than fast food options that would cost the same. Everything was fresh and the bun (of all things) was good, too. We subbed out the fries for crispy onion rings and those were sooooooooo good. Admittedly, after reading all the previous reviews, I was nervous. I am wondering if we are experiencing the same restaurant. We had good, quick service. Good food. Pepsi products. I went to celebrate my birthday there. Little after 3pm on 3/31/25. I had such the worst service. The lady didn't pay attention to my husband and I when we let her know respectfully said we were ready to order. Because she was just continue to talk to her regularly customer which you can clearly see. As she started to make our drink she stopped in the middle of it to get another drink for the man she kept talking to. Which clearly was her friend. She even put in the wrong hamburger order in after bringing mine out. So my husband had to wait longer as I waited to eat. The drink was terrible. And try to enjoy my birthday meal and drink it was just bad. I still try to stay positive. So I order a different drink thinking it would be better. She took her a little bit to get her attention again. Their were only her two friend and 3 other people. I was so upset to have a terrible birthday experience. I still left a tip bcz that's what I do which I shouldn't have and am mad at myself I did. I just didn't know how to give it back and her see I didn't leave somthing. But I will tell everyone I know not to go there at all and just how horrible my birthday experience was. I TRUELY will never go there again. The bar lady had terrible service and just made me feel that our presence their was in her way of focus on her conversation with the man and women she was talking to the whole time. Am pissed that I picked there to have my special birthday and just to experience such terrible service and drink. We spent $65 there. It was Just Bad Bad And I do mean Bad all the way around. Horrible and dishonest staff. My daughter left her purse on the seat and immediately returned to be told it was gone. Staff was very rude and uncooperative. Camera review was requested and police were called. Staff told police the camera 'said' she walked out with the purse which she did not. Police initially did not review camera but believed staff... we pray police will go back, review camera themselves and hold these dishonest people accountable. What goes around comes around. On my way out of town I stopped here for breakfast to start my journey. It's right off the Hwy with plenty of parking in a strip mall next to a hotel. It's ok looking with a country decor with plenty of booths and tables, there is a buffet and salad bar set up in the middle of the room which was not set up at 6:30 so that might be nice. I was seated right away and given a menu and water and while waiting for ever for my server to come back and take my order I got to look close at this greasy spots on the dirty table, WTF did she die on me. She finally came back and took my order which took way too long for only two tables in service. There is a theme building here. I ordered the road dawg classic which was two eggs, hash browns, two sausage patties and sour dough toast. The hash browns looked good and cooked perfect but I couldn't eat them because they had a weird citrus orange type flavor, yuck. The sauce patties were juicy and ok but very mild and made to not offend anyone's tastes. The eggs were perfect scrambled, I'm mixing it up today so sunny was out. The sourdough was ok and not the greatest but toasted perfect. When I was done I pushed my plates to the end of the table, the international sign that hey I'm ready to leave but I sat there and sat there and sat there, WTF so I got up and went to the register to pay. Another woman asked I had the check and I said she never gave me one. My server never came back to my table since dropping off my food to check on me or to give me my check. Overall the service was pretty bad for only two tables in service which seemed weird because they were dead at that time. The food was just average so I can say that I would not stop by here again and look for another place heading out of town next time I'm that way. read more

The BBQ dinner was Nasty, as it was burnt and dried out. It was Typical BBQ from a bag that restaurants use, and can be made edible, this wasn't. Then a cold left over baked potato that the cook tried to pass off as American Fries by deep frying didn't help the plate. My husband's chicken fried steak was a frozen tough one with no flavor that was assaulted by horrible gravy from a bag that needed help. He also got the cook's poor excuse for American Fries. The place is clean and wait staff is great. The cooking needs work! The Brosted Chicken looked good, but it should as company that makes the Broster is just down the street. read more

Clean, affordable restaurant with all the basics. There is A LOT of seating for large parties or meetings, and staff was kind & professional. A down-home place with potential, just not very good food. We stopped in on a Sunday for breakfast and decided to have the breakfast buffet. The waffle sticks were deep-fried, the breakfast potatoes were undercooked. The scrambled eggs and bacon were ok but the bacon was very fatty. Biscuits and gravy just average. The only fruit was canned pears and peaches. No fresh or yogurt. There was chocolate pudding though, and they do give you a carafe of coffee so you don't have to wait for refills. My husband and I agreed we'd rather have gone to McDonald's, and we never go to McDonald's. The bill for 2 buffets one coffee and one OJ was $21.80.
