Culvers is always a treat, and this visit was no exception! The service was fast, friendly, and accurate. My family and I ate here a few nights ago, and everything was delicious! I also love the variety at Culvers. They have burgers, chicken, fried cod, and even pot roast! There is something for everyone at Culvers. The restaurant was clean and well stocked. I got a Buffalo chicken tender meal. The fries were hot and crispy. The tenders were crispy and had the perfect amount of heat. We got onion rings, which were fresh, hot, and delicious. I was so hungry, and the food all looked so good that I didn't remember to take any pictures! Even my young son loved the fries and the cheeseburger that he shared with my husband. We ordered ice cream and she cut me off to tell me to pull ahead when I was clearly not done and when I asked her if I could add a water she told me to pull ahead in the sassiest tone because she said I couldn't add to my order even though I had 3 free scoopy tokens and the water is free. I'm not a huge fan of burgers, but occasionally I'll come here for a dish of chocolate custard with cookie dough. It's pretty delicious. You can also order a single dish of vanilla custard and if you ask to "make it a Pup Cup" they'll put a little Milk Bone on top. So of course, my dog looks forward to coming here. Forgive the long post but I think this needs to be said. I am happy to see that most of the reviews on here seem to be positive. I however had a horrible first experience at this Culvers and I will not go back unless Culver's takes my request seriously. Here is my story. My sister is a nursing student during this horrible pandemic. She is working very long hours and doing things that most medical students don't normally due to the nurse shortage. She is extremely exhausted and tired. She is also in the midst of having to put her beloved dog down of many years. Today was a very rough day for her. I wanted to do something nice for her. She has stomach issues, diverticulitis, so many fast food chains do not sit well with her. Culver's is one of the few fast food places she can actually eat at and enjoys. I was out running errands, as we had just moved to the area, and were getting furniture. My sister had not eaten anything all day and was in a long 4 hour zoom class for nursing school. I decided while out I would stop and get her something to eat and decided on Culver's. I got her a single deluxe butter burger with a small cheese curds, root beer, and a single blueberry cheesecake sunday. The drive thru had us park and said they would bring us our order. They brought us 2 bags, partly my fault, I assumed all parts of the order were contained and was excited to see the joy on my sister's face that I was thinking about her. I get to her house and her face lights up when I tell her we have food and ice cream. Her face falls when there is no frozen custard present. She is still happy she has food, but it was the point that we had paid for the frozen treat only to have it missing. So I call the store and let them know I am unhappy about the missing item, the lady on the phone dismisses my complaint, but she at least says it will be ready for us. This is where Culver's seriously dropped the ball. I go in and ask to speak with a supervisor (yes I know kinda a Karen move but I wanted them to understand that while they are fast food workers their job does matter and it's the little things that are helping people get through this pandemic.) The lady supervisor I spoke with was nice and actually listened. That was all I wanted, was someone to listen to why I was upset and to take responsibility for the mess up. I also wanted to let her staff know that I think they are all important and do have an important job right now and that it is a hard job. All of this I told to the lady supervisor, who seemed to understand. I asked if she could let her staff know that they are important (as it is proven that workers that feel valued and appreciated and are better workers. It is a proven fact according to Forbes (https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestechcouncil/2019/11/07/how-happy-employees-lead-to-happy-customers-companies-and-shareholders/?sh=7f64491c2604) that happy employees will stay at a company longer and are more productive. Which also means less mistakes.) Then, not hearing the entire conversation some guy butts in on our conversation, I can only assume he is the afternoon manager. He says "we all make mistakes, we deal with hundreds of orders a day it is bound to happen." To which I reply I understand that-he then cuts me off again and accuses me of saying his workers suck. To which I looked at the female supervisor and asked her "Did I ever say your employees suck? That never came out of my mouth. I asked if you could make sure they feel valued so that their productivity would be better." To which the guy jumps in again and gets very defensive and starts having a contest of ego. All that guy had to say was we are sorry for this, and we will try and do better. Instead he totally dismissed what I was trying to say, tried to have an ego contest with me, and would not accept that he made a mistake. I called him a jerk and looked at the lady supervisor and said I was sorry for her that she has to work under this man. If this is how he treats customers that have a complaint, and are nice about the complaint, I can only imagine how horrible he treats his staff. So Culver's, if you truly do want to make this experience up to me here is what you need to do: Praise that female supervisor because she was super nice about everything and listened. Take that man manager and get him into an active listening class, or coach him on how to speak to a person, or get him into sensitivity training. The way he handled this situation was totally uncalled for. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS SAY HE WAS SORRY. People don't want to hear excuses when they are going through a hard time, they need ownership of mistakes and a vow they will try and do better. I was trying to do something nice for someone else and they messed up. It happens, yes, but they needed to know this was not just an ordinary mess up. Right now small acts of kindness are what most people need right now to get through the day. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS SAY HE WAS SORRY! read more

Maybe not five-stars compared to every restaurant, but a five-star Culver's for sure. My friend and I stopped in on our way back from Eugster's Farm on a Sunday afternoon. Service was friendly, the food was some of the freshest I've had from a Culver's, and the kid's meal ice cream portion was generous. Throughout our visit tables were continuously cleared and cleaned, and as usual everyone working seemed to be in a great mood. The west side of Stoughton has cropped up with quite a few fast food places over the years, but among them Culver's is your best bet if you need something quick and easy. read more

I have not been very happy with Culvers for some time now but I had a delicious fish dinner there recently and was very pleased with the quality. The price was a bit too much I thought for a carry out meal. For 1.50 you could add three shrimp, which I did and the shrimp was very good and nothing like what I had years ago at a Culver's in Fond du Lac. The Fond du Lac Culver's shrimp was like biting into a dry loaf of bread. It was truly awful. So I have to say that it looks like Culver's has improved some things but their prices are still too high for their fish meals. I spent about 13 dollars for this meal. I did save the money that would have been tipped so I guess that is something to consider as a benefit. If I had gotten this meal at a restaurant and paid 3 dollars less I would have still tipped 4 dollars so it would have cost me a buck more. Update: Returned for some of that good fish and shrimp. still good. But the shrimp sauce was not so good and the tartar sauce wasn't good either. Update2: Have to lower their rating again. Went back and had some real problems with their food this time. The fish was greasy this time, something was off with the potatoes, they weren't of the right consistency and sort of thick. The shrimp had an old grease flavor and were overcooked. The beans were undercooked and tough. Unfortunately they have been so "hit and miss" we will be switching to a different restaurant from now on. read more

Being from out of town, I want to try as much "non-native" food as I can, Culvers was one of them and did not disappoint. Now that I've been once I need to go again so I can order what I really want this time: vanilla custard with blueberries! ...I was significantly confused on what a butter burger was but it's a burger with a buttered bun from what I hear. I had never heard of this chain prior to making my first trip out to WI a couple years ago (in spite of having lived in Michigan for 8 years). Cold weather has never stopped me from enjoying some delicious frozen treats, so I got a sundae and loved it. This is nothing original nor spectacular. But it's good fast food chain ice cream. Made the mistake of ordering Strawberry Fields salad. Granted, it's early in the season, but there was about the equivalent of one (1) strawberry. Very disappointing considering the price obviously went up and the salad bowl got smaller (the middle section is molded way up so it appears larger than it is....). Not worth it, in my opinion. In the realm of fast food, expectations are lowered. So for the sake of this review, this is all in the sense of comparing Culver's to say McD's, Dairy Queen, Wendy's... Prices are admittedly a bit higher. A Turtle Sundae, classic deliciousness, will set you back almost $5. But "Snack Packs", of which there are several varieties (burger, small fries, & drink) are only $4 (a bit extra for cheese/lettuce/tomato). That's almost always what we order. Kids meals are just under $5 (adults can order kids meals, too), but come with free scoop of custard that would be almost $2 without the free scoop coupon. (Incidentally, the free scoop comes w one free topping, essentially making it a free sundae coupon.) Food is all made to order, delivered to your table. Burgers are a bit greasy ("butterburger"?) but can be adjusted, w/o butter, w grilled onions, etc. Menu has nice variety of basics, $7 salads, $3 soups, $5 sandwiches. Nothing earth-shattering, but you go here for fast food, not culinary delights. Cheese curds great, onion rings ok. Fries not my favorite. Ultimately family-friendly. Big corner booths. Tables are nice distance apart. Big parking lot. Lines (if any) move ultra-fast. Bathrooms are clean. In fact, someone is always cleaning here. Wiping tables, cleaning off bathroom doors, cleaning up counters. Generally, it's immaculate. Friendly to Seniors, too, free coffee refills. Newspapers left out to read. There are a number of employees (who have worked there for years) who are consistently cheerful. They greet you when you come in, and thank you when you leave. Living near here, I come to this Culver's quite often with my daughters. No complaints. It has the typical quality, delicious food I expect from Culver's. Restaurant is always very clean and the staff is friendly. Has never been so packed that we couldn't find a place to sit, which had happened many times at some Madison Culver's locations. I don't normally eat fast food, but Culver's isn't your typical fast food so I make an exception. My daughters love that the kid's meal includes a scoop of custard. I love the snack packs which are very reasonably priced and get me my butter burger, fries, and drink for around $4. Also, and I'm mentioning this because I never noticed before, if you save 10 of the scoopy tickets off of the kids meal bags you can either get a prize OR a free kids meal. I never cared enough about my kids bringing home more junk to save the tickets but now that I realize they could get a free kids meal I will be saving them. read more
