Had fried cheese curds and spotted cow beer followed by the classic cheese burger with home made bun. Yes! Delicious. Service keep my beer full and the property was clean with a great view out over the lake. Great Wisconsin tavern.

Beautiful day to check out Springers! Had great service from the lovely bartender (forgot to get name). Had the Rueban with onion rings. Very juicy and lots of flavor. Great views outside looking out to the lake ! Time to walk it off on the gorgeous paths with the best scenery all around!

Bar service is friendly here, and it was pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Decor hasn't changed in many years and consists of mostly dusty knick-knacks lining a shelf around the ceiling. A large variety of liquors, beers, and seltzers behind the bar, so they probably have any drink you're looking for. A lot of the food options are fried or greasy, so if that is the bar food you want, you can get it all here! The garlic cheese curds were the most unique cheese curds I've had in Dane County - highly recommend!

We had a gift certificate, so I decided we could give Springers another chance, since our first stop wasn't Aw-inspiring. We went on a Friday, and it was PACKED. We checked in at the front desk and were told of the wait, we were expecting it, so no problem. We waited a while, but my husband was enjoying their brandy old fashioneds! He tried the deep fried alligator, which he's never had before. He still raves about it to everyone, delicious. The filet was amazing, and I was obsessed with their hash browns. I am glad we gave Springers another chance, because now I am always suggesting it as our next stop.

We stopped in for dinner. Our friends hadn't been here for years but we were all game to give it a go. The service was friendly but you could tell they were short staffed. Everyone is right now but I think they did a good job taking care of people who were there. We were happy. We got drinks and ordered dinner. The boys got prime rib and the girls Orange roughy. All our food was good. We got desserts and those were good also. The view of the water from our seats was great. We would stop back if back in the area.

This is a nice little out-of-the-way restaurant that sits directly on Lake Kegonsa. It's a little off the beaten path for driving, but if you're on the lake with a boat you can always pull up to one of their docks. It is definitely a popular lunch spot but they do serve dinner as well. As far as lunch goes, it's basically a burger in a basket and fries kind of establishment. The food is decent and certainly worth what you pay for it, but it's not exactly five-star stuff. They also have several locally made craft beers on tap. It's a relaxing place where you can sit on their back patio gazing over the vast distance across the lake while sipping on a good craft beer and enjoying your mushroom cheeseburger. Inside they do have a full bar and a game room. Our tab for four lunch baskets, five beers and a nice tip was around $75.

Best. Views. Ever. We love coming to Springers in the Summer, and eating on the shaded patio overlooking Lake Kegonsa. Well behaved dogs are allowed on the patio, too! My dog sure enjoys it. We both ordered grilled sandwiches, turkey with swiss; and hot ham and cheese. Both were large and nicely browned. Nothing to complain about here. When given the choice between fries or fresh potato chips, we both sprang for the latter. Just wished the chips had been more seasoned, at least with more salt? Even though it was around 80 degrees at noon, it wasn't too hot on the patio due to a lovely lake breeze and sun shades. If you need a GPS to get there, I suggest driving to Stoughton first---then set GPS. We didn't do this, and ran into trouble with hwy MN being closed :( Get out there and enjoy a lakeside lunch, people!! Dogs welcome!!

It's an utter shame how terrible Dane County is about making lake/water space accessible to the public (one thing Chicago does way better than Wisconisn, unfortunately), but Water Street Tavern totally gives me the waterfront dining fix. It's along the river, not the lake, which gives it a bit more of an intimate feel to it. Their outdoor space is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend checking it out. We came here for our monthly fish fry, never having been here before. We came around 5:30p on a Friday and were told no indoor tables until about 8pm. It was a tad chilly out but we opted for the immediate outdoor table. There is a fireplace out there, but it's more aesthetic than anything, it provided no heat our way but we were find with sweaters. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and super fun to chat with. I wish they had your basic cod on the fish fry menu - and I was surprised they didn't - but I opted for the walleye instead. It's one very large piece but it was pretty good! Crunhcier breading but not excessive. I enjoyed the house old fashioned. I wish they had supper club boozy ice cream dessert drinks, but they don't so I opted for a cocktail as dessert instead. My dining mates got the cheesecake and ate the whole thing. We left around 7:15pm and it was empty inside, not sure what happened there, but either way I'm glad we ended up outside and I will definitely be back here more often now that I've discovered this wonderful place!

However, once we got over that hump, the service was pretty good, especially as a few larger tables cleared out. I had the mahi mahi fish tacos. They were pretty good. Definitely larger than I was expecting. It has definitely been a long while since I've had mahi mahi, so it was a bit of an adjustment on my part. To be honest, I didn't really notice the jicama, and I'm sure you could mistake it for carrots or any other mild root vegetable. The chili lime vinaigrette was where it was at though. Wasn't too sweet, spicy, or sour. I thought it had a really nice balance of flavors. I chose the potato dippers as my side, and those were different. They're like a mix between a potato chip and steak fries. They didn't taste bad or anything, it was just for me, they were a bit to soft texturally to be considered a "fry." My fellow diners both had the Spring Buddha Bowls. They seemed to be enjoyed. There was a comment made about the peanut sauce having a bit more spicy kick than expected, but it seemed as it was a good contrast to the sweet cherry tomatoes and corn. Overall, a very nice restaurant whose acoustics seemed to be better than what they appeared to be, i.e. I was able to hear what the others at my table were saying. Overall, the service and food was good enough that I would consider visiting again, and recommending it has a place to people visiting the area.

I love that it's a local joint, love that it has a legit Viking ship bar that blows smoke/steam, and love getting beer brewed on site. And a nice variety of beer at that. It had been awhile since I've been here, but it continues to be delicious. We came here for a Friday fish fry and while busy, the wait wasn't terrible at all. We went to the bar to grab a drink, and it seemed a bit wrong not to get a beer but it also seemed wrong not to get an Old Fashioned while waiting for a fish fry. So, Makers Old Fashioned Sour it was, and it was really good! I'd definitely order it again, and love that they didn't over-fill it with ice. It could sit for a bit and not get so terribly watered down. But OMG the fish fry! We try out a new fish fry spot every month, or at least most months, and I have to say this fish is probably my #1 that we've had. It was so delicious. The breading on the outside was light but crispy, and the inside was juicy and moist (sorry, it's really the best word to describe this!). I brought the third piece home (it took a lot of willpower not to eat it). I tear the breading off and give some of the fish as a topper for my pup's dinner. This fish and breading was seriously so good I'd eat the breading straight out of the refrigerator off the fish. The french fries were good, but had a few too many that were overly crunchy (reject fries, as I like to call them). Even so, still good and the fish still gets it 5 stars and the title of "Best." The roll that came with it was likewise delicious. Fun, local atmosphere and good food all around - the regular menu is great, the fish fry is great, the beer is great, and the drinks from the bartenders are great.

Elsa was a great and attentive server. Pepsi shop. The pretzel was great (we got the lingonberry…read moresauce instead of the mustard and it was a sweeter but very tasty substitute). The Norwegian meatballs were tasty (the brown gravy was a bit heavy) and the fresh roll was to die for! The chicken in my sandwich wasn't vey flavorful and did not bring out the flavor of the pesto aoli. I would go back to try other offerings on the menu.
