I got a call and was told that my truck was given to someone else and that they are working on finding me another truck. I waited several hours and never heard from Penske so I called them back. The gentleman that I talked with told me they were still working on getting me a truck. He also told me that he would call me back the same day and give me an update. Three days later I still have not heard anything. I called them to see what was going on and the same guy that was helping before answered the phone. He again tells me that they still do not have a truck for me. No explanation as to why they have not called me back or even found a truck for my company to use. Tim the local representative needs to be retrained and requires a professional attitude when dealing with customer problems. In addition to the truck not having an operational liftgate, which was not inspected and repaired prior to rental, there was a loss of income and an exorbitant amount of wasted time. The manager (John) was confrontational at the end in an effort to try not to resolve the losses associated with the defective equipment (had to bring it all way back to the office for repair, my paid roadside service was useless/only basic repairs. A mobile mechanic at the office?)! John the manager had me waiting 2+ hours for a repair due to a lack of communication/ coordination between himself and the mobile mechanic. Not only was I not given an estimated invoice prior to renting the truck, upon arrival Tim tried to change the agreement and increase the cost! It was just a horrible business experience from start to finish.

But when you try to get that $20, they then change the terms and say they have to be the exact same dimensions and you also have to go purchase the other boxes and bring the boxes and receipt to them. They will do anything to NOT HONOR their guarantee! over $20 worth of boxes. If this is how the move is starting with U-Haul, not sure if I want to get the rest of our boxes & truck from them. The employees in the store did not even know the guarantee was written on the box when they have 1000 boxes in the store.

She took the time to not only get me set up quickly and efficiently but also brought us extra water bottles to make sure we stayed cool and hydrated in the midday Florida heat. First off let me say that I initially met with Lisa who was very friendly and seemed trustworthy…read more I explained to her that after a check engine light showed up I had Auto-zone run their scanner on my vehicle. They did so free of charge and returned error code P1757 recommending to replace the governor and possibly the transducer in the transmission. I further explained to Lisa that after the governor and the transducer were replaced, the check engine light returned with the error code P0868. She said they could do a full diagnostics for $150 made be a transmission specialist. She made a note of the recent history on my ticket. I told her I would leave the scanner reports and changed parts in my truck cab in case their technician needed to refer to them. A few hours later, a gentleman who I believe to be the owner called me, saying that they would need me to approve an expense of $600 to $900 for them to finish the diagnostic, because they would need to drop the pan to go further into figuring out what is wrong. I declined and asked when I could pick up my truck. He said he would have to see because they would first have to put my truck back together if I was declining to go any further. I confirmed I wanted my truck back and he said he could have it ready later in the day. When I got there i asked what they had done. it turns out they had only plugged in their scanner and printed out the report. The same type of report I had told them Autozone had done for free and that I had left for their convenience in my truck. I paid my $156 and asked to see the report. obviously it returned the exact same two error codes P0868 and P1757. Nothing more. It took them all but 3mn to start the engine, plug in the scanner, turn off the engine then plug the scanner into their computer and print out the report. So when I remembered that over the phone, the owner had claimed that if I wanted my truck back he would have to see to "put it back together" this was a huge red flag as to their honesty and straight forwardness. When I asked him in person why they did not do more diagnostics then simply running a scanner, when they knew I had already done so, he responded that he was not going to have his guys drop the transmission pan for $150. I would not have had a problem if he had been upfront and had explained that his diagnostics would be nothing more than plugging a scanner. i would have likely skipped that step and asked how much it would cost me to get an actual professional transmission diagnostic. When I got home from their shop, I was surprised to realize that my box with the parts and diagnostics report made by Autozone were no longer in my truck. Needless to say I will find someone else to work on my vehicle.

The on-board monitoring system shows no alerts so I pull back onto the interstate and continue towards Boca Raton. Although there are no warning lights/alerts, the car is unusually loud. I stop for gas in Ocala and decide I better have someone look at the car. Searching on my phone "Ocala BMW" I find the gas station is .3 miles away from the Ocala BMW dealership - what a lucky gas stop! BMW Ocala is open so I pull into the service lane. The reason I am writing this email is because of what happens next or better - who happens next - Robert Czaplicki. Mr Czaplicki immediately comes to the rescue! After a brief chat about the car and the urgent need to get to Boca Raton, Mr. Czaplicki jumps into action. My car is in the service bay and within 30 minutes the car problem is diagnosed. My car needs a major part replacement (something to do with the car air flow system) requiring a lengthy repair. Knowing I am in a time crunch, Mr Czaplicki improvises with a few minor adjustments and gets me safely back on the road in time to make the meeting in Boca Raton. Mr Czaplicki displays what is hard to find these days - a real professional with interest not only in the car but also my personal situation. The service department might easily say "sorry" we cannot fix it today but instead go above and beyond expectations making my car safe to drive and all within a brief 30 minute window.
