We visited this food truck twice in the last few weeks. First we went to the Anoka Food truck…read morefestival and tried the loaded tots. The actual tots were very crispy. The toppings don't stay on very well but the lettuce was crispy and the sour cream was cool. The second time we visited them was at the state fair. We got the dill tots. The service was good at both locations. We liked the options of two sides to order at the state fair. It really helped the line length. The pick up window was at the end and we didn't have to wait long either time. The great thing about the truck is you know what they are selling just by looking at the truck.

As evidenced by the name, Tiki Tim's focuses mainly on island inspired cuisine (save for the fried pickles). Their menu is fairly modest in size, comprised of Tiki (shrimp and crab) cakes, fish tacos, a Hawaiian influenced pulled pork sandwich and a smattering of side dishes. While the choices are limited, they've all been quite good. The fish tacos are the highlight for me, with generous pieces of crispy and not-too-greasy fish, but you really can't wrong with anything (bring a knife and fork for the pork sandwich). The converted big blue Chevy is easy to spot on the streets, the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Given that we're about as far from the coasts as possible and a long haul from Hawaii, it's nice to see someone aspiring to bring the tropical mindset to the streets of the Twin Cities.

The chicken came with a wonderful sauce that was like a combination of a smoky barbeque sauce and sweet and sour. So good! The guys running the truck were so friendly! Pretty simple menu, tacos and enchiladas with a choice of steak, pork, chicken and birria. The sauces they gave us had a nice bite to it. We had the steak tacos and birria enchiladas. Fresh, tasty, nice touch of cheese and the sauces were a big plus. Tacos were 3 for $12 and the enchiladas was 4 pieces for $12. They also have a variety of drinks. I sampled 3 items from Mario's, an appetizer (Ciabatta Parm Bites), a small 8" pizza (Meat Eaters), and a dessert (Classic Cannoli). Every bite of my food was wonderful. And judging from the number of people lining up to get food, many other people agree with me. The employees at the brewery were also grabbing food and raving about Mario's. Yum! As a final note (to avoid confusion), this truck is NOT the same business as the bricks n' mortar restaurant in Watertown. The truck is an independent business that simply licensed the name from the restaurant several years ago. I had a nice conversation with the owner and he explained it to me.
