I love this ice cream shop so much. The first 3 years or so I've been coming here I had NO idea it was considered keto/no sugar added/sugar free ice cream. I just really enjoyed the consistency of their ice cream and thought it was pretty affordable. Now that I know it's a specialty ice cream place--it's definitely affordable for what they offer and in comparison to other places. All the workers are really friendly as well and it's very colorful inside. The place is upbeat and fun. Don't waste your money. Horrible Customer Service. I purchased from this company because I was searching for Keto friendly options for chocolate chips with no bad seed oils or artificial sweeteners. I spent $30+ on 2 - 8oz bags of chocolate chips plus shipping. I thought this was high, but I was willing to try it despite the price and cost of shipping. The link I used was directly to a product page, not their main page. When the items, arrived, they came in a bubble wrap flat package suitable for clothing, not a meltable chocolate product. Needless to say the chocolate chips were completely useless to me. When I informed the company and asked for a refund, they insulted me saying all their purchases were AT RISK in hot weather. Well, if you would have put it into a styrofoam or similar insulated container with suitable freeze packs, it would have gotten here in tact just fine. I order products from other companies such as Pederson Farms, Omaha Steaks, all who ship out their products in appropriate containers for insulation and their products arrive to my home, even in the hottest Summer days still FROZEN. Here is an exact quote from their "Customer Service" so you see how they treat people: "You beg to differ on your local temperature, on the clearly stated web store policy on chocolate or just physics general? And are those meat products you purchase perchance the size of a peppercorn which is twice the size of our mini chocolate chip? You might want to google the term "thermal mass" before proceeding further in your argument. Good luck!" Truly, it's not about thermal mass or thermal dynamics, it's about using an appropriate shipping container for the items that this company is selling. For what they charge in shipping, they could have easily accomplished this goal. Also, they now have a disclaimer on their homepage ONLY, not on the individual product pages about shipping in the heat. Spotted this gem in my way to pick up my daughter. Oh my goodness! This place can become dangerously addictive if you have a sweet tooth. Don't worry, it helps that the ice cream is sugar free! (Maybe, it helps just a little.) I came in 15 minutes prior to closing time. The employee greeted me and was very helpful. She explained the different types of ice cream and different flavors. There were nondairy (coconut base) and dairy ice cream that came in four different flavors. I tried the following nondairy flavors: chocolate, raspberry, and orange. I forgot what flavor I tied for the dairy one. I decided on the nondairy ice cream, and got a scoop of raspberry and chocolate. They have cute little wooden spoon, as well as the traditional plastic spoons and napkins. As I finished the chocolate ice cream in my car, I rushed back inside for more. With five minutes to spared, I ordered two more: another scoop of chocolate and raspberry; and two scoops of chocolate. It was just too good and I needed a little more to cure my newfound craving. I also wanted my daughter to get a taste of the delicious treat! As I left and got into my car, I noticed another car pulled up, with two minutes to closing time. I chuckled since that was me earlier after my first taste of the ice cream. I am definitely coming back for more. read more

Just enjoyed a sunny afternoon with all the nieces and nephews at this ice cream shop. My niece is dairy free so it's tricky to find an ice cream shop that all of the kids can enjoy. The owner was so nice, accommodating and inviting. The frozen treats and my affegatto were delicious. The kids ate most of the ice cream in my affegatto so I will have to go back for more. This is one of my favorite places to get ice cream. Right in downtown north Saint Paul a scientist got to work for making the perfect recipe for a healthy ice cream. This is where he decided to place his shop. My fiancee and I were talking our daily 3 mile walk one hot summer day. We live right in North St Paul and wanted to try some of the local businesses. On that particular day, they were giving out free luv ice cream samples. We we're extremely impressed for it being healthy ice cream. It was healthy, dairy and no dairy options, and vegan. It was nice to have a variety to cater to all walks of life. We got to try every kind, and the scientist who made up his own healthy ice cream recipe came out and started talking to us and giving us information on how and why he wanted to create a healthy ice cream that tastes better than regular ice cream. My favorite was the strawberry dairy. The ice cream shop is all pink and white and has really cute luv decor. Something you wouldn't expect a guy to have in his ice cream shop at all. But it's really cute. The staff is very very friendly. Go give it a try! read more

This is a great ice cream place for anybody wanting to eat healthy ice creams. They have four flavors for Keto ice creams - dark chocolate, vanilla , strawberry and coffee. I tried the vanilla and coffee and they were really nice, got home a pint for dark chocolate and it was delish. Ate the entire pint in a single sitting They also have paleo ice creams which are are coconut cream based and have a few flavors like orange , chocolate and two sorbets. They sell their ice creams in Lunds and byerlys, hyvee and a few other stores. I will definitely be buying these :) The only reason I did not give 5 stars is for the lack of flavors. But I feel no guilt, my Buddha belly isn't getting bigger and my responsible adult side is happy. I recommend trying all the flavors and then getting the small. It's really small... I keep emphasizing small because your eye might bulge when you see the container. They have high quality and flavorful guiltless refreshing treats. I wish they sold these in stores, otherwise this summer I will have to make a stop to pick up a few flavors. Cardamom was my favorite. You'd either love or hate it. Oh did I mention they are known for their chocolate? Yeah I bought some dark chocolate. I was looking for Paleo chocolate to make Paleo and Keto recipes. Bingo! Sugar busters rejoice! I saw this ice cream at HyVee and decided to give it a try. I was all about the Pistachio Chai....Then I discovered they have an actual cafe in the northern suburbs by Oakdale. I just HAD to go see what the Luv was all about. Upon arrival I met Susanna and her lovely helper and they guided me though the world of amazing treats with no sugar. I sampled several flavors of delicious ice cream, chocolate and home made goodies. The cinnamon scone and chocolate chip scones are to die for. Susanna reported it has taken many months to get the right formulation of Stevia to other ingredients in her products. I'd say it's Luv payola! Some recipes are happily shared but specific formulas are an obvious trade secret. I'd continue to gush but will let the products speak for themselves. Ice cream in many flavors, candy bars, sugar replacement, chocolate chunks and bakery items...it's all here. Even items for plant based folks. In all honesty, this review probably won't be very long. There really wasn't much to talk about here. We went on one of the nicer days we've had so far. Figured a day of roller blading and park playing deserved some yummy ice cream. Well, let's be honest. I think doing anything any day deserves ice cream. That's just me though. Anyway, we've been wanting to try Luv Ice Cream so we figured no time like the present. Walked in to an empty store, great, more ice cream for us. Problem was, there were only 8 flavors available. I'm used to the MilkJams, and Izzy's of the world, so 8 little options made me weary. Still, I tried the non-vegan chocolate ice cream and the vanilla. Both were very good. Couldn't try any of the vegan ones because they all had coconut in it, and I'm REALLY not a fan of coconut. Turns out, whether in store or not, nearly every vegan option they offer has coconut in it. That was a major turn-off. The fact that the serving sizes were so small didn't exactly help matters. Bottom line though, the ice cream I had was very good, and I wouldn't mind having that ice cream again. That is, if MilkJam or Izzy's is closed. read more

I came across this little ice cream, cafe after personally meeting the owner Susan at the local Maplewood Costco. She was enthusiastic and a savvy business women wanting to grow her small, yet thriving shop. My mother and I visited Luv's Ice Cream and Cafe and were enthralled by the bright decor, local art work decorating every wall, and the engaging ladies behind the counter. We shared more than samples; from laughs and personal stories to whole hearted talk, even other customers shared in the passion of this lovely little cafe. Sugar-free, Dairy-free, Gluten-free, and Healthy Heart options for ice cream and "Nice" creams lovers alike. The infamous italian "affigato" tried during a follow up visit was divine! Expresso and "Nice" cream was a jingle of love for the tastebuds! As a plant based, whole food eater (think vegan), this was an excellent alternative to high in fat, sugar and preservative laden counterparts. While their portions are smaller, the contents are just as filling and even more satisfying without the sugar induced coma afterward.
