After a nice run of skiing we were happy to grab some breakfast/lunch on the way to my friend's house and we found Cup N Saucer on the route. Just a little diner, not much to see from the outside, but inside it is unique with the only seating at a large circular counter with the open kitchen on the side. The menu is pretty much what you expect with mostly breakfast items and sandwiches; this is supplemented by a couple of different special boards and signs. Service was attentive and friendly. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs, I got a spinach, tomato and cheese omelet that came with hash browns and cinnamon raisin toast. The food came out promptly, with generous portions of nicely prepared food. My omelet was good with the fresh spinach and tomatoes adding some nice contrast to the eggs. the potatoes were good and the raisin toast was excellent. Cup N Saucer is well worth a visit just to experience the old school feel with solid food. How is it that I have not reviewed Cup N Saucer until now? CnS is classic. Circular counter with server in the middle, plus tables in the back. Good menu. Fun attentive servers. Cooks who clearly know their business. Good food, unique Vermont atmosphere, decent pricing, good service. We come to Vermont for the whole summer, and experienced a home rebuild. So when we would come up periodically to check on progress, CnS was our go-to breakfast place. We loved it, and eating here took some of the sting out of the construction process. Only downside is that if you arrive at a peak breakfast time, especially on weekends, you'll have to wait. So if you want Sunday breakfast, don't arrive at 9 or 10 am, better show up at 7:30 or 8 am. read more

I recently visited CNS with my Father in Law during a Snow storm. It was my first time, but he's been a fan. I see why. CNS is not fancy, but it's still a cool place. They have a one of a kind hockey rink shaped seating counter. So it's almost like you're eating with everybody there. There's an open area in the middle and the servers work their magic from there. I enjoyed the CNS crew quite a bit. Good people. My Father in Law raved about the corn beef hash. And he was right. It was very flavorful. For a standard style of corn beef hash, it was a good step or two above average. I've had better hash, but I'm not sure I've had better traditional style hash. Sorry no pic. It was on my Father in Law's plate. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a biscuit. Great biscuit. Flavorful. The sausage, egg and cheese were all good. I'm a fan of CNS. I cannot say how many times I wanted to change my food order prior to my food coming because of all the yummy looking dishes that came out of the kitchen. Especially the chicken and waffles that was facing across from me. Yes literally across from me because this diner's main table is horse shoe shaped! I've been here twice now, once in 2019 and another time this year and the memorable part of eating here was the horse shoe shaped tables. It's interesting eating across strangers enjoying their food - I felt like I was watching a live mukbang (that sounded weird haha) but mukbang is when you watch someone eating lots of food. I was split on a few different dishes and ended up ordering the biscuits and gravy while my boyfriend got a cajun skillet. Both were pretty tasty! I'd say next time I'll probably try something new since all the dishes that came out looked delicious. Oh - also there is a mini shop across the road, we initially stopped here to eat brunch + pick up gifts to take back to NYC from the shop next door so I'd recommend hitting both of these shops if you need food and gifts to take home after your visit to Vermont! read more

After a hiatus of many years, Bon G and I returned to Wilmington Vt to see how it had changed...We had our heart set on having breakfast at the infamous Dot's, but it was closed most of the week but we did hit it on Thursday. All the other mornings breakfast was at the nearby Cup N Saucer! It def is old school with a wrap around counter of yore but no matter that it had no asthetics, it did have good grub! The service, even when crowded was fine and the constant pouring of coffee made everything more bearable considering the cook was working right behind us and the dishwasher was off to the side. All this aside, the pancakes were outstanding and came with real maple syrup. The eggs and taters were good although the sausage links, despite looking cooked, were mushy on the inside. I tried the home made corned beef hash a couple of times and it was meaty and delish with the eggs.The overall feeling was good and we ate there 3 times during the week we were there. So this place is a bit unconventional since the only table is a long "saucer" like table that it seems like people just walk in and sit down anywhere. I decided to check out this restaurant for a few reasons. 1. it was close to the Air B&B, 2. it seemed to have a pretty good breakfast menu, 3. It had an old time feel by the pictures and 4. There was only one 1 amongst all the rest of the comments. Ok I was hungry so I ordered chocolate chip pancakes (2of them) bacon and home fries. Oh yes, I forgot I started with coffee. I didn't finish it but I tried. I found everything to be quite tasty. They would have had a 4 if it wasn't for the flies. They annoy me to no end. Now don't get me wrong it wasn't as if they were over run with them but I was annoyed. The coffee was typical diner coffee but I do think they care about the pot it didn't have that dirty pot taste. I order black coffee because I like to taste the coffee without anything masking the flavor. Not gourmet but as I said typical and I drank 2 cups. The pancakes was a chocolate chip lover's dream. I was happy about that. Plenty of chips. Oh and the home fries had a nice flavor I like onions but it was not overwhelming. I'd say it was just right. Btw I didn't get any feeling of racism as someone stated in a post. I was respected and treated well. It's a busy place with locals and tourists sitting around the Long tables enjoying meals together. We were there around 10:30am, so breakfast, brunch and lunch were all available. There were also specials of the day. All looked delicious and amazing! And the dishes we ordered tasted even better than they looked in the menu! When we asked the staff where we could buy the fresh eggs we just tasted, she told us the eggs were from their own farm, not for sale but only available in their restaurant. Our family of four caught a late breakfast of biscuits and gravy, country fried steak and eggs, homemade corned beef hash, and a bacon, spinach, tomato omelette. On the way to the slopes, I stopped at Sonny's Cup N Saucer, which is a local diner restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere inside is pretty classic, seating around 2 mini U shaped counters and an open kitchen and grill area. Lots of specials and popular items are posted on sheets of paper above the grill area. The dishwashing station is visible from the dining area. Most of the customers here seem to be regulars (the servers address them on a first name basis) with a few skiers in the mix. The menu offers the typical American diner fare including breakfast dishes as well as sandwiches, soups, comfort dishes, seafood, and ice cream (Gifford's). They brew New England Coffee. The portions of hot breakfast food coming ff the grill looked big. I started out with a mug of hot coffee, which was pretty good. For breakfast, I had some homemade corned beef hash, home fries, and an egg & cheese sandwich on wheat toast. The hash was pretty decent which was grilled with very minced potatoes and corned beef, no too salty. The home fries were tasty, grilled and browned with onions and seasoned with paprika. The egg & cheese sandwich was good, which had a fried egg and melted American cheese. The place was pretty busy and steady on a Saturday morning. The service was good and there were two servers taking care of both counters, rushing out big plates of food and refilling coffees. The check came out to $9.60 before tip, which is in line with most other breakfast places I've been to in New England. We were made to switch seats in order to accommodate more people. We were rushed to leave because "now there are customers waiting". In the meanwhile, none of the other customers were made to do the same. Our waitress was passive aggressive with her under the breath comments. She was reluctant to let us take three seats for two adults and a toddler. Very confused about the other reviews about "friendly service". We went to Cup due to many glowing reviews. This was not our experience at all!! The restaurant is tiny and outdated which I can see being "charming" for the locals. The food was mediocre, at best. Coffee is weak, sausage was burnt, French toast was grainy. Others raved about the "friendly service" which was also not our experience. I have extreme food allergies and bring my own food with me. I know that establishments don't love this but, when I'm with a party who are all ordering food, it has never been a problem. There is literally not a single thing on the menu that I can safely eat. In my 5 years of doing this, I have NEVER once had anyone refuse to allow this but our server did just that. She was snippy and also was quite rude to us when we pointed out she charged us $12.95 for something listed on the menu as $7.95. She corrected the check with obvious annoyance.
