    Apple Maps hours
    Alyssa B.

Last night (3/4/25) my friend and I really wanted a dessert after dinner.I hadn't been here since a few years ago, so I figured we'd go here and see what new flavors they had. I checked my Apple Maps prior, and it said this place was open until 7pm, and it was only 6pm at the time. We walked into the shop at 6:15 and a lady from the back just yells out "WE'RE CLOSED." in a super rude tone. So we left (obviously). But I don't understand why the door was unlocked or why the Apple Maps said they were open until 7 if that's not true. Please update your hours on the maps and please lock the door if it's truly closed. Also the rudeness was just really unnecessary... a simple "sorry we closed at 6!" would've sufficed.

Name misspelled. Wrong size. Looks like it was decorated by a kindergartner.

Cupcake a la mode ought to be ashamed of themself. An eight inch cake was ordered for a special four year old girl, Havi by her military father! The pictured cake was what was made - six inches with Havi's name spelled wrong as Habi. The cake looks like a child made it. The owner was unwilling to speak by phone, and only offered a store credit and Katie, the woman working at the store was entirely rude! She kicked him out! If this business treats military families, let alone single dads with disabled children this way, they should not be in business.

The service was super friendly! It wasn't too packed in the shop which was nice, gave me time to pick a cupcake! The cupcake itself was sweet rich and fluffy but did not taste like raspberry lemonade one bit. Maybe the flavor was there but very faint.

Went in to grab my secret santa cupcakes! I honestly just googled "cupcakes near me" & they popped up! I'm so happy I discovered them. I will come again to actually try some for myself & will update this review when I do. But the 5 stars are simply for customer service, ambiance & overall cleanliness of the store.

Great midnight snack Loved the options and it was difficult to choose, so I opted for my three top options: velvet, chocolate a la mode and choco latte

Who doesn't love cupcakes?! Okay...well funnily usually me but, Cupcake á la Mode holds a special sugary spot in my heart. I grew up anticipating Monday's where the magical confections at the nearby Country Club Plaza store would go on discount and I could start my week with a sweet treat. The seasonal flavors are always switching but, there are also tried and true classics like the Stuffed French Toast cupcake. This cupcake never disappoints with the soft luscious vanilla cake and the buttery cinnamon melding together with rich frosting, totally decadent but worth the calories for sure. Right now the pumpkin cheesecake cupcake is calling my name, call me a basic witch but, pumpkin desserts always warm me up on the inside before even taking a bite and the creamy pumpkin mixed with the tangy flavors of cheesecake sounds to die for. I would like to mention that I am a firm believer in vanilla over chocolate (call me basic again why don't you!) but, honestly, even my mother who usually is the yin to my yang or in this case, the chocolate to my vanilla, prefers the yellow or vanilla based cupcakes because they just seem more moist. Also, just a note, these cupcakes are really best consumed on the day they are bought, they can be brought back to life a day or maybe two after purchasing with a little help of the microwave (only about 10 sec people, don't go overboard and turn your buttercream into pure butter!) but, there is nothing like a fresh cupcake...á la mode or not. This boutique cupcake shop may not be the trendiest dessert concept around nonetheless, it has been around for over a decade and that means something. What does it mean? Well one can only assume it means the people like cupcakes and in particular Cupcakes á la Mode, I have been and will continue to be a part of their loyal fanbase hopefully for another decade to come...yum!

What appears to be a mom and pop bakery is actually a baker who has carefully done his research and brings himself up to date on the latest trends of flavor in the baking world. The vibes are amazing - I especially love the art piece on the wall he commissioned from a local artist. I saw the Instagram page with several posts explaining how he did each part. Everything was absolutely delicious (I am biased with the ham and gruyere cheese since that is a favorite combo of mine), the danish was delicious (I could tell maybe it uses veryberryosa - a recent trend in baking to be used as filling), and the same was probably on the cinnamon roll looking crossaint. Now the grand prize - the mochi donuts were spectacular. The flavors I got were raspberry almond (my #1 favorite I got twice), cereal (this was carefully curated and not too sweet like most cereal based baked goods), Irish coffee (didn't taste like coffee, gave it to a friend) and the mango black tea was also a slam dunk for me. The staff are incredibly friendly here which is a huge plus!

To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.
