They have great pastries to choose from as well as on their menu for brunch and lunch. Super cool you get to choose still or sparkling water on the tap. As always the food is really good! I ordered the corned beef hash, coffee and berry mascarpone French toast to share. Portions to me are good sizes to share or eat alone. Loved it the moment I saw it from outside to the walk in. Hopping, modern, great smells, very friendly staff. Great menu! I got the vegan sweet potato rice and added shrimp and mushrooms. It tasted like risotto without the cheese. The shrimp was cooked it's a slight crunch going in to a moist once all the way in. Almost tasted like an outdoor grill cooked it. Soooooo good! Nicely designed and decorated place to have brunch. We ordered their burger, avocado toast, and pasta. The prices are affordable compare to many other brunch places around the area. The food is is good but nothing spectacular; however, their desserts were delicious. The mini key lime, Nutella chocolate, and tiramisu were delicious. The service is good. It was no different than the scoop of tuna on lettuce like I'd get as a side salad somewhere else. When I pointed this out to the waiter he said - they only call it a chopped salad - but it's not chopped. The food is decent tasting - which accounts for the 2 stars but the rest of the experience was a loud diner and an eating a salad that was not what was advertised. There are plenty of restaurants that have good food and a menu that is accurate. No need to return here. read more

We tried this place for breakfast this morning. Won't be back My classic breakfast was decent, but it came out at least 10 minutes before my partners pancakes. Speaking of the pancakes, the cinnamon roll pancakes are just regular pancakes with cinnamon sugar on top. Even IHOP's cinnamon pancakes have the cinnamon mixed into the pancake dough. My partner's coffee was burnt. He asked for a new pot to be made, but that took forever. And the tables are very close together here. Overall, for a $43 breakfast for 2, this was a disappointment. read more

***This review is only for our particular brunch food items/experience; we didn't get any of the pastries this time around.*** Came here for brunch with my wife and toddler as they were doing outdoor seating again on this beautiful day. Outdoor seating space in the front is small (maybe 4-5 small tables if I remember correctly) but we didn't have to wait too long for a table. Once we were situated we pulled up the menu on their website; they also have a QR code you can scan for the menu while waiting in line to order. I personally prefer a physical menu since they have a lot of menu items and it would have been easier to navigate. It was kind of a hassle to scroll through everything to find what we wanted. We ultimately decided on the Midwestern Omelette, the Chicken Pesto Mac and Cheese, Apple Cinnamon French Toast sticks kids meal, and a matcha latte. Service was fairly quick and we didn't have to wait too long for our order to come out. The food was good, though I wouldn't say it was outstanding. The Chicken Pesto Mac and Cheese was smaller than we expected though, and my wife said the matcha latte was okay. Overall we didn't have any complaints about the quality of the food. The downside to this experience was in the outdoor seating. There were some pieces of trash on the ground around our table, along with an old sock. The tables are also extremely close to the street with metal railings as the only barrier, which I understand can't really be helped as they can't block off the sidewalk. However it was getting pretty windy, and as a few cars drove by we got a blast of dust and dirt blown into our faces and our food, so we had to take time to try to get dust and dirt out of our eyes, off our daughter, and off the food. Would have been nice if they had a more solid barrier between the tables and the street to prevent that from happening, but of course this is just our unfortunate experience and that's part of the risk of outdoor dining. I hope they can at least work on keeping the area clean and presentable though. As we're only sticking with outdoor dining for now, we will probably only come back for pastries and drinks to-go. The interior is still very nice and spacious and seems like it would be a great dine-in option down the line. read more

I was at the Evanston location this morning with a friend around 10:30am, having just arrived. We were awaiting two other friends and had pulled over a chair. We were about to get in line to order food and beverages. Before we could, an older man came over to us, speaking in a very aggressively, asking me why we had an extra chair, when there was plenty of room on the couch. At no point did he introduce himself or did we know who he was. I explained that we were settling in and waiting for more people to arrive. He started to raise his voice to me, yelling something about "sitting with computers". He literally got into my face, and waved his hands very close to my face and torso. I asked him to back up many times and he did not. He finally finished ranting and walked away. Several customers witnessed this aggressive, confrontational behavior. Shaken up, I left a short time later, and took my business elsewhere. We found out later that this man is the owner. Ironically, this establishment likes to market itself as an "all day lounge." Let the buyer beware. read more

This spot is a gem. I enjoyed how spacious it is inside and still have distance between the tables. First thought coming in, I noticed how clean is was inside. They have sanitizers on the all the counter top tables and the area to order was clean. All the workers are wearing their masks properly, and we were greeted kindly when ordering. The food was good as well . We ordered the breakfast sandwich and the number 5. The croissants sandwiches were made perfectly , and was light enough to satisfy my hunger. I ordered the matcha Latte and that was made well. Overall the experience and the food was good. Parking was a little tight, but eventually you will find some parking. this is a good spot to get some work done if you are working remotely, but they do ask to keep your stay to a min of 90mins to allow for more customers to come in. read more

You wait in line to order food & they bring it out for you. The prices are a $1-$2 high for what felt like very simple lunch menu items. The salad was refreshing but the sandwich was hard. The baguette was hard to rip with your teeth & made for a not fun sandwich experience. I enjoyed the pistachio croissant with its green dye & pistachio filling. Visiting from out of town, I like the Cupitol model! Is this a chain, because I could see this working in Washington D.C. and other big cities. But anyway, yes as a first timer, it's a little bit confusing what's going to happen. Scan the QR menu as you wait in line (which you will do) to be prepared to order quickly at the register. But my European breakfast yogurt was great, the coffee was good (are there free refills dining in, because I really needed another cuppa!). The menu looks good and the atmosphere was fabulous. This weekend I visited this cafe as it opened for outdoor patio seating. It was a great experience from start to end. We were seated, the seating was nice and in front of the cafe. We ordered a latte and yum berry smoothie. The latte was strong and hot the right notes of a slight tang in the expresso. The smoothie was berry heavy and was refreshing. We ordered a Belgium Nutella banana waffle. The waffle was freshly made, very light and had the right amount of Nutella spread on top and in the plate and topped with banana and nuts. A very nice taste. We also ordered the falafel sandwich: a crispy patty and topped with cabbage slaw and a yogurt spread and paired perfectly with the crispy bread. Last, we had the lox bagel which was okay, the flavor was a little bland but overall still great ingredients. Keep up the great work! read more

Honestly dollap might even be the same price if not cheaper for a high quality pour over. The pastries were nice, but worthy of a 4 star not 5. My friend and I found this place quite confusing and overwhelming when you walk in if you're a first timer. Someone will assign you a table when you come in. You have to use a QR to get access to the full menu. Once you get to front of the line, you can order everything you'd like (drinks, food, pastries). We were walking around Evanston and wanted a place to sit and relax a bit that wasn't a bar and Cupitol was right down the street. It was a Sunday in the early afternoon so it was pretty quiet and there was plenty of space. There's a coffee counter where you place your food and drink orders-the main board has all the drinks and the food menu is on the side. The soup of the day that day was chicken noodle and I'm a sucker for a good chicken noodle soup so I got there in addition to the burger. I'm not a coffee fan so I ended up getting an Arnold Palmer, which I got right away and a number for the food. The Palmer was tart, almost too tart. The soup was shells and had big chucks of meat and veggies, but was a little on the bland side. The burger though was really good and the fries were salted just right. We had the Spanish & Shroomed Omelettes they were fluffy & filling. The Spanish had chorizo with a nice kick and the Shroomed was stuffed with tasty mushrooms. The side of corn beef hash was perfectly crispy. I ordered my favorite breakfast dish, the Country Benedict and I have to say I was surprised! Hubby and I came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We had to wait a little bit for an outdoor table (there's only ~5-6 small two seater tables outside and several of them are placed very closely to each other). We snagged an available table as the previous patrons were leaving and I had to flag down a worker to help clean off the table. There was also trash all around the tables outside. I really wish there were QR codes available to scan outside since we were told to scan the QR code inside to view the menu and it was sooo crowded. You also have to place your order at the register. Our food came out relatively fast. I had a matcha latte which mostly tasted like milk and I could barely taste any matcha flavor. I had the chicken pesto mac n' cheese while hubby had the Midwestern omelette. The mac n' cheese was good but I wish it was a larger portion since I wasn't full after polishing off my food and I usually get full pretty quickly. There are people doing work on laptops, but there are also people waiting 20+ minutes to be seated. - I only once sat down for a proper meal here. I ordered a waffle, but it was a little overpriced for what you get. I came with friends who ordered wraps and the portion sizes were pretty small all around. That being said - the food is not THAT good and is all extremely heavy and more expensive than it needs to be. Worth experiencing for a better classier brunch in Evanston, but not somewhere I frequent. I do know it is a student favorite though! We came around 9:40AM on a Sunday and managed to order and get our food pretty quick. The line length fluctuated between no line and a crazy line almost reaching the door. This is a good brunch spot as there's lots to choose from and the setting is relatively modern and bright. I ordered the Country Benedict, which was basically two biscuits drenched in meaty gravy and topped with poached eggs. It was good and gravy had great herb flavors. I ate about half, took the rest to go, and I didn't feel too heavy or gross after eating it. Only negatives here are that the bathroom line tends to back up and it's loud inside the restaurant.
