We were there in the morning so the port-a-potties were all relatively clean and unused. 2) The food section isn't that big but service is quick. We tried the cheese pizza, poor boy, pork chop on a stick, cheeseburger, and donuts. We would definitely order the poor boy, a cube steak sandwich, and pork chop again. They did an excellent job with grilling the meats and both had a nice sear while retaining moisture. The donuts were mini-size and came in baker's dozen so it was easy for our young girls to dig in.

Long story short, their was a delay in completing the job. Wrong color of fence arrived, deck finished late in the summer and I decided to wait until spring of 2020. As soon as we were allowed out of quarantine I called Tholens in Kankakee to get a completed estimate and arrange for work to begin. I stopped by to speak with Steve, a gentleman went to get him and 30 minutes later, I am still waiting and no Steve. Even the girl at the counter seemed clueless but didn't offer to remind him I was waiting. I called for an appointment and was told I didn't need one, he was there 6 days a week. So I dropped by as suggested and spoke to his wife, went through the plans and discussed color. Steve was to return my call with the estimate. Didn't hear from him and called the following Monday. Still no estimate (even though the design was complete dimensions and all). I have done similar estimates, just sit down for 30 minutes with a pencil and calculator. I was told they were very busy, I asked should I call the following Monday(week later) and was told yes. I called 3 more times and was pretty much ghosted. I feel like they were trying to humiliate me, because that's how I feel. I don't need to be told yes, I just want the truth. A good business design: don't tell people you are too busy it's insulting. call back so they can move on, let the customers know you can't do the work this season or ever for that matter and you won't get a bad review on yelp. ps....this was a significant job

Juried artists also have the option of participating in the Annual Art Fair held on downtown Main Street in September. This event is one of the oldest outdoor art fairs in the Chicagoland area. I selected a sympathy vase arrangement that was close to $200. Ordering flowers online always feels like a gamble to me but I made my peace with it. Shortly after placing the order, the shop called asking what drew me to pick the arrangement. I explained it was for a friend whose sister passed suddenly and that there were certain colors/flowers I wanted, for cultural reasons. The florist explained that my selection was a very small arrangement (8 inches tall) for the money I was paying. She asked if I was ok with her making an arrangement 3x the size of what I originally selected, and it would still be what I paid. I agreed. The new arrangement was spectacular. Bigger, more impactful, but still adhering to the specific cultural aspects requested. I am really grateful to this shop for the heart and integrity they showed in reaching out to me and the product they delivered. It was clear to me, from that phone conversation, how much this person loved their job and took pride in their work. I live in Chicago and the arrangement they made for me would easily cost $500+.
