A popular bakery that's highly recommended during any Poulsbo trip. Even people in other buildings around town recommended this spot. I thought the items we grabbed were excessively sweet. Keeping an open mind that they offer a larger variety of pastries and goods I didn't try but my visit felt just average. While not overly impressed, I can appreciate a solid spot with fresh donuts and pastries managing high traffic. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block. read more

I've been here a few times while visiting family in Silverdale. It's about a 20-minute drive, though you can take the ferry from Seattle and make it a day trip. The bakery is located in the heart of Poulsbo, a charming Scandinavian-style town. There's usually a line, but we've been lucky during our visits and haven't had to wait too long. It is a family owned, historic bakery known for handmade breads, donuts, pastries and the Viking cup. I picked up a number of treats and have been delighted with them all. One of the things that immediately tell you a bakery is legit, is when you buy way too many donuts (really not a thing) and its still fresh day 2 and day 3. Fine it was a lot of donuts but you cannot blame me. These guys are kings when it comes to making the perfect donuts. Cinnamon sugar is a must for me and it is gloriously cinnamony not a dash, or a hint, nope, she makes herself known. I'm also a sucker for a sugar donut so obviously I had to have that then add a few donuts wholes a coconut crunch and a few cookies and you'll be so happy you stopped by. This small bakery right in downtown Poulsbo is definitely a new favorite of mine. We arrived pretty early in the morning which was a good call because by mid-day there was a line running out onto the sidewalk with people waiting to order their baked goods. The staff was very patient with us as we decided from the plethora of pastries and cakes they have to offer. I ended up trying one of the giant donuts and my girlfriend got a viking bowl which resembled a cinnamon roll in a cup shape filled with icing. Both items were delicious and very very sweet which I quite enjoyed. The price for each item seemed fair for the size and quality of the pastries that we had tried. I would definitely recommend this shop if you are looking for something sweet in the city of Poulsbo, just be prepared for a little wait whether outside or inside as the shop itself is fairly small. read more

A must visit.. they lnow how to bake their breads with utmost flavor.. we got their chocolate cake donut and regular chocolate glazed donuts along with a couple of coconut chocolate cookies and it was delish! I will never understand the cult-like local love for this place. I've been to Sluys several times now and have never found their treats to be any better than the donuts I'd pick up from Safeway up the road. In fact, I think we enjoy grocery store donuts far more than Sluys. It's always totally crowded with a line down the block, with unfriendly staff who just seem overwhelmed by the perpetual mountain of people circling through. I feel like they allow too many people inside--always rushed and quite stressful to be shoulder-to-shoulder with others while trying to make a selection. I've given Sluys a few chances and have yet to discover the reason for the obsession, so I would not recommend to others. read more

Cute spot in downtown Poulsbo. There was always a line, so put your patient pants on. EVERYTHING we got was delicious. I got the Viking Cup (as per SO many reviews), my husband got the fruit roll and the date coconut macaroon. Honestly, the coconut date macaroon was our favorite, followed by the fruit roll, and then the Viking cup. To my surprise, there were quite a lot of pastries that were freshly baked and available in the afternoon. This place exceeded my expectations in taste and customer service. Loved how the Viking Cup with Cream Cheese from the glaze, cinnamon and frosting tasted very light and complemented each together. Cream cheese appeared more translucent. Workers were friendly and courteous. My son enjoyed partaking the sad face design cookie. He disclosed to me, "The frosting is very smooth."
