I recently experienced a horrible accident that left me permanently disabled. I was prescribed pain…read moremedication but didn't like the side effects, so I started looking into more natural alternatives. I had never used THC or CBD before, but my primary care doctor suggested trying edibles to help with pain and relaxation. I chose this JARS location because it was conveniently located close to my home. Since I was completely new to cannabis, I relied heavily on the staff to help me understand the different products and what might work for me. From the beginning, the staff recommended the Baked Bros Live Hash Rosin 10mg -- 10-pack of edibles. They seemed to work well for me, so I continued purchasing them. However, at $24 a bag, they were becoming very expensive, especially now that I am disabled and living on a very limited budget. I shared my situation and specifically asked the staff on multiple occasions if there was a comparable product that was less expensive. I explained that I liked this product but simply couldn't afford to keep spending that much. Each time, I was told there wasn't anything comparable at a lower price, so I continued purchasing the Baked Bros products. Today, I decided to do some research myself and was honestly shocked by what I found. Less than two miles away, at All Greens Dispensary, I found the exact same Baked Bros Live Hash Rosin 10mg -- 10-pack for $10 a bag. I purchased two bags, and my total including tax was only $24! To put that into perspective, two bags at JARS (including taxes) would have cost me approximately $56 at the regular $24-per-bag price. Even using JARS "sale pricing", the same two bags "discounted" were $46!!!! I completely understand that dispensaries are businesses and that prices can vary. I also understand that sales and promotions can make prices different from one location to another, but a $14 difference per bag is ridiculous. But that's not really what bothers me. What bothers me is that I repeatedly asked for a less-expensive comparable option because I was struggling financially, and I was told there wasn't one. Meanwhile, the exact same product was being sold for dramatically less, less than two miles away. As someone who is disabled, dealing with significant ongoing pain, and trying to make a very limited budget stretch as far as possible, $14 per package is not insignificant. Had I known the same product was available so close by for substantially less, I obviously would have purchased it there. I relied on the JARS staff's recommendations because I was new to cannabis and trusted that they were helping me find the best option for my needs and budget. Instead, I now feel like I was taken advantage of by paying significantly more simply because I didn't know enough to comparison shop. JARS really needs to do better when it comes to transparency and helping customers find affordable options--especially when a customer specifically tells you they are on a limited budget and asks for one. I'm not expecting a business to sell everything at the lowest price in town. I am expecting honest guidance when I specifically ask whether there is a more affordable comparable option. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will definitely be comparison shopping before ever purchasing from JARS again.
