I have driven by this place while on multiple work trips, I will longer drive by. This is a must stop, even folks who could take or leave BBQ (like myself and the two ladies at the table next to me). The "smoke" is not over done, the meat is quality! I had the smoked turkey, thick cut bacon with homemade pimento cheese spread. I skipped the pesto mayo because I'm a weirdo who hates all things mayo and it was a perfect sandwich. It came with a few homemade pickle slices which I was pleased to find I really liked. I chose the Mac and cheese as a side, alas it was too much and next time I'll do myself a favor and go for the daily veggie. The Aspirus Crystal Falls Clinic had an event that The Curious Pig catered and it was a huge success! The food was out of this world! The food was beyond expectations and we had so many positive comments, I couldn't keep track! I would highly recommend The Curious Pig for any of your catering needs. SO GOOD! After months of driving past the Curious Pig on our way to the cabin (north of Crystal Falls) we finally had the chance to stop in for dinner on a Saturday evening. So glad we did! The food was excellent with portions large enough that we were able to bring some home. We each had platters - my husband ordered Smoked Brisket & Pulled Pork, I had Smoked Brisket & Ribs. Everything was fantastic from the meat to the sides - green beans, baked beans & corn bread in our case. Nice assortment of BBQ sauces too. Our server was attentive and personable. Great experience. Wow! The brisket and ribs were some of the best I have ever had. I am from California originally so I have eaten at some really great places and the Curious Pig is right up there with the best and aat the top of my listof UP restaurants. My new favorite BBQ place! read more

Absolutely amazing food. Get the platter! Split it on a date and make a mess of yourselves with their 5 different delicious BBQ sauces (Ps- the strawberry BBQ sauce is a mind blower!) Just came back and the food was better than ever. That sausage is amazing, and we really enjoyed brisket and pulled pork. You can't go wrong. They are now bringing all the sauce in large bottles to the table. But we forget to ask to bring some home for the leftovers. Next time. Generous portions of excellent barbecue. I tried the turkey and the pulled pork and it was amazing. The potato salad has a nice twist to it, and do not miss the corn pudding bake. Really good service and a clean and homey atmosphere. Great addition to Crystal Falls. read more

Crystal Falls lucked out on this little gem opening there. We went to their Sunday brunch, and it was delicious. We look forward to being back in town again to try some food from their regular menu. My husband and I just tried the Curious Pig for the first time, and this was seriously some of the best BBQ we've ever had!!! We shared a small Barnyard pizza and the Pigs Grilled Cheese sandwich (OMG-so unbelievably good!!) with a side of honey cornbread. We sat on the outside deck near the smoker for the full experience, but there are also two levels of indoor dining. Our waitress was very friendly, and one of the owners (Pam) came out to meet us. It's always a good sign when you can smell the BBQ smoke as soon as you get out of the car! Glad we made a lunch stop here on our way to Houghton. Enjoyed a smothered brisket sandwich and the pigs grilled cheese. Both sandwiches (as well as the sides - baked beans and the corn pudding) were very good! From Chicago: My family and I came here amidst COVID and were easily able to get our order carry out -- and with amazing service! I am vegetarian but I was able to get the pigs grilled cheese without the pork along with a side of beans and was absolutely blown away (I'm sure it's equally amazing with the pork)!!! I'm unsure of what the rest of my family ordered but they were also completely mind-blown. Definitely some of the best BBQ any of us have ever had! We liked the upstairs dining area. The pizza was good. We had the clucker and the smoked meat and cheese was tasty. The crust is very thin and not house made. More like a lavosh. It was party cut so you end up with a lot of middle pieces with no edge crust. The crust is hard to cut so you end up picking it up and getting sauce and cheese on your hands. Not a deal beaker. We also had sides of Mac and cheese. It was decent but probably warmed in a microwave. No alcohol or delivery. Lemonade was good but pricey. Service was good at a casual pace. I was so looking forward to this experience because of the reviews on Facebook - finally a real BBQ experience up north. Well, sorry to disappoint you but it tastes nothing like a real southern joint. The service was lackluster the seating is very crowded and NO sauce on the table. The spice is definitely catered to a bland, northern preference and brisket slices the size and shape of stew meat. The prices are extremely high for this area and you don't get the consolation of a nice big serving either. The definite deal breaker is the lack of spicing though. BBQ should make your mouth come alive, not leave you searching for the nearest bottle of creole seasoning! I heard the real life reviews of the not so satisfied after my visit and also heard that the owners remove anything less than stellar from their Facebook reviews- it all makes sense now! read more

Excellent food. I was a bit chagrined that they did not have collard greens or candied yams. The house itself is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. No alcohol yet which I don't mind much except sometimes a beer tops off a bbq experience for me. The mocktails with blackberry and other juices are very tasty. read more
