I was excited to try the Deva Cut since I always have to get my hair straightened for stylists to cut it, and I rarely ever wear my hair straight. It was a decent overall tapered cut on my short hair, but I wouldn't say it was any better than previous cuts I have gotten at half the price. The major issue was my fade and line-up were uneven. I didn't really realize it until I came home, but I am pretty sure the stylist did because of the way she was holding the mirror vs. handing it to me initially. read more

People love to say, "support Black businesses," but it's always your own that screw you over first. This salon is hands down one of the worst I've ever stepped foot in. They'll find any excuse to raise the price, barely wash your hair, and still send you home with an itchy scalp and product buildup. How do you "wash" hair and leave it dirty? If you can't do the most basic part of the service -- washing hair -- you shouldn't be in business. Period. And the lying is what makes it worse. They will tell you whatever you want to hear just to get your money, then act clueless when you call them out. The owner is the worst of them all -- she'll book you with anybody just to fill a chair. My favorite hair salon go here every year. My favorite stylist is Shanice! She does a great job really take her time with my hair even though I have a lot lol. My silk press last about 3/4weeks hair doesn't feel dry or anything also she educated me on the products she uses on my hair. read more

I'm so HAPPY AND PLEASED!! From the initial call the owner was patient and answered all my questions. She walked me through the services and made me feel completely at ease about booking. When it was time, I took my daughter to her appointment; she was so well taken care of!!! I was so pleased with the stylist Chanel, she was knowledgeable and took care of my baby. She ensured there was very little breakage and told me how to care for her hair at home. The shop was so clean. The stylist wore a mask and her station was very organized. My daughter loves her hair and I really appreciated all the great customer service...so much so that I'm going to get my own hair done. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Update after owner response: Please take heed of the way this comment was handled and find another salon. Several lies were told in order to save face. They want their clients to do their "civic duty" and wash their hands without being directed to a sink? What about the many other covid guidelines that are stated in the email that are not being followed, like temp checks and questionnaires? (photo attached) Is it my duty to ask for that as well? I was not properly greeted by my stylist for a whole 20 minutes. The stylist with the mask wore it improperly when she was checking her client out and every moment after, NOT only while she was drinking what was described as "water" when it was actually wine. If there is actually video footage (which I doubt) the owner should please find the moment when the yellow tail Rosé was being poured in said cup. But the way in which the mask was being worn was never the issue, it was only an observation in my original review, so the experience being recounted in that way by the owner is completely rude and irrelevant. The shampoo job was rushed because the stylist I booked had someone else in her chair. No information about the products being used in my hair were provided unless I asked specifically. And if the reason my stylist was incredibly late was because she was servicing another client's needs, why couldn't this salon meet mine? I have yet to receive a refund. Facts are facts. I was serviced by Shanea. This was my second time being serviced at this salon and WOW. My hair had so much bounce and shine. I was in love. She was extremely patient with my hair I have 4C hair that tangles up after being detangled. I'm very tender headed and I didn't flinch the entire time being serviced ( No I'm not being dramatic). I really appreciate how I didn't have to wait for her to get started on my hair she took me once I walked in the door and it was smooth sailing after that. I went for a regular blowout and I got my hair done by Chanel. She was really nice and had great service. She made a comment about the texture of my hair (I have really tightly coiled hair) which didn't bother me that much but when it was time to checkout she added an EXTRA $10 to my service making it $80 JUST for a blowout. I was prepared to pay $70 for the service. This is the second time a stylist at this salon has charged me extra for no known reason. I will not come back to this salon anymore if they continue to overcharge for a simple service due to texture discrimination. read more

I'm currently in the process of trying to file a small claims lawsuit. This is by far the worst salon I've ever been to in my life. I wanted pintura highlights, showed the owner the picture of what I wanted she assured me her stylist could do it. Got to the salon the stylist told me it would be the baylage method. I have 4b hair that is fragile, she immediately started taking through my hair and told me it would hurt get over it, had her 2 year old there constantly looking away. ( I should have ran out at this point, but I took a bus from madison wisconsin specifically for the salon) she assured me that she didn't have to bleach my hair for the color to turn out right. The color didn't turn out at all. I wanted it styled in a wash and go style. She used cheap ass products that made my hair feel like straw. The owner assured me she would refund me my money. I received a silk press from Jasmine today and I'm am so pleased with her service . We started off late today because shit happens. Despite falling a tad bit behind Jasmine never rushed on my hair and paid attention to every last detail. I am so picky about my hair, but she worked on each strand of hair with so much care and finesse (as if it were her own hair). I also appreciated that she explained each step of the process to me and was very kind and personable. I've been getting silk presses & blow outs for the past 3 years and it has been so hard to find someone who is both talented & kind, which resulted in me settling for mediocre hair to have a nice stylist. I was fortunate to have someone with skill, a kind personality and a detail oriented. It's been exhausting finding a stylist since moving to Chicago and I'm very happy that I finally ran across her. Booked an appointment for hair coloring. Had a consultation via text message and was very much looking forward to my appointment. On the day I was asked to come in earlier than my scheduled time and we agreed I would come in at 1pm. This was my first salon visit since the start of the pandemic and my last one was at the same location but under different management. My experience was great during prior visits and I expected nothing less for this one. Initially, Shanise was friendly and professional. But, during the service I had hair with dye sitting on my forehead, water splashed in my face at the shampoo bowl, and on top of everything the blowout was very rough and I lost a lot of hair. I thought this was a natural hair salon and would expect stylists to know how to detangle coily hair. The color looked like something I could have done myself and was way darker than the color discussed during the consultation. After all this I wasn't going to let her near me with a pair of scissors so I didn't even receive the full service. I ended up at Fantastic Sams for a blowout and trim, which I am really pleased with. Wish I had gone there for the color too. read more

Unfortunately, my last visit will cause me not to return. I visited Crysten and she is Good for straightening hair but not so good for styling or trimming natural hair. I asked for medium flat twist style and trim. She cut about an inch off while my hair was in its natural state. I know I didn't need that much because I had just seen her for a trim about 10-11 weeks prior. She also styled my hair as if I was getting a weave--large flat twist with no style. I have seen her 4 times this year and she blow drys, trim, and flat iron but now that I want more natural styles, I will be finding a new stylist. read more

I've had the pleasure of visiting CK twice and both times I saved money on products and purchased the Huetiful hair steamer for the cheapest it's ever been. Curl Kitchen is an amazing "it" spot for natural women. By "it" spot I mean it is the place to be! They carry a variety of products that natural women love and each time I visit they have expanded to carrying more brands! The store owner is very warm and welcoming and she goes out her way to listen to the needs of her customers. The products are affordable and plentiful. Not only does Curl Kitchen carry products but they also carry hair accessories ( bobby pins, combs, flexi rods etc). I seriously have not found the need to step inside a beauty supply store since being a customer at Curl Kitchen. One of the greatest things is that it is conveniently located next to Huetiful Hair Salon!! If you want products you go to Curl Kitchen and if you want your hair done you can walk 2 steps next door to Huetiful! I absolutely love it!! read more
