Vivian is great at what she does! Tysm for the wash/press. 4C I believe! I left my roots untouched, and I don't intend to add any more "color." LOL

My appointment with Starr, The Curl Whisperer of Chicago, was the most relaxed, refreshing and comfortable experience I've had in a salon in a very long time! When I tell you my anxiety was off the charts with the thought of meeting a new stylist for a new cut and style; that anxiety instantly melted away when I was greeted so friendly and welcomed into her chair! Conversation came easy and wasn't forced. I was able to convey all issues I've had with my natural hair and discuss its future goals. Starr listened and went to work; I am thrilled with my style outcome! The hair evaluation and information on how to care for my coils between appointments is invaluable. I've searched so long for a new salon home and finally I can say I found it.

Awful customer service. Unprofessional. Owner spends time condescending to customers instead of fixing problems in her dirty run down salon. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Arriving to the shop

I'm so HAPPY AND PLEASED!! From the initial call the owner was patient and answered all my questions. She walked me through the services and made me feel completely at ease about booking. When it was time, I took my daughter to her appointment; she was so well taken care of!!! I was so pleased with the stylist Chanel, she was knowledgeable and took care of my baby. She ensured there was very little breakage and told me how to care for her hair at home. The shop was so clean. The stylist wore a mask and her station was very organized. My daughter loves her hair and I really appreciated all the great customer service...so much so that I'm going to get my own hair done. I highly recommend this shop.

Covid guidelines from email
Summer S.

Update after owner response: Please take heed of the way this comment was handled and find another salon. Several lies were told in order to save face. They want their clients to do their "civic duty" and wash their hands without being directed to a sink? What about the many other covid guidelines that are stated in the email that are not being followed, like temp checks and questionnaires? (photo attached) Is it my duty to ask for that as well? I was not properly greeted by my stylist for a whole 20 minutes. The stylist with the mask wore it improperly when she was checking her client out and every moment after, NOT only while she was drinking what was described as "water" when it was actually wine. If there is actually video footage (which I doubt) the owner should please find the moment when the yellow tail Rosé was being poured in said cup. But the way in which the mask was being worn was never the issue, it was only an observation in my original review, so the experience being recounted in that way by the owner is completely rude and irrelevant. The shampoo job was rushed because the stylist I booked had someone else in her chair. No information about the products being used in my hair were provided unless I asked specifically. And if the reason my stylist was incredibly late was because she was servicing another client's needs, why couldn't this salon meet mine? I have yet to receive a refund. Facts are facts. Customer service is obviously something that is lacking at this establishment. Please read all of the reviews on this platform and others before you decide to make an appointment.

3 day old silk press

I was serviced by Shanea. This was my second time being serviced at this salon and WOW. My hair had so much bounce and shine. I was in love. She was extremely patient with my hair I have 4C hair that tangles up after being detangled. I'm very tender headed and I didn't flinch the entire time being serviced ( No I'm not being dramatic). I really appreciate how I didn't have to wait for her to get started on my hair she took me once I walked in the door and it was smooth sailing after that. I will be returning for Shanea to execute another flawless silkpress.

This is how my hair came out looking! I cried cuz I had no idea what to do I shouldn't have paid a dime

I'm currently in the process of trying to file a small claims lawsuit. This is by far the worst salon I've ever been to in my life. I wanted pintura highlights, showed the owner the picture of what I wanted she assured me her stylist could do it. Got to the salon the stylist told me it would be the baylage method. I have 4b hair that is fragile, she immediately started taking through my hair and told me it would hurt get over it, had her 2 year old there constantly looking away. ( I should have ran out at this point, but I took a bus from madison wisconsin specifically for the salon) she assured me that she didn't have to bleach my hair for the color to turn out right. The color didn't turn out at all. I wanted it styled in a wash and go style. She used cheap ass products that made my hair feel like straw. The owner assured me she would refund me my money. Never did and the proceeded to block me. This salon is a fraud. AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COST IM OUT OF OVER 300 dollars!!

Had the BEST experience at the Chicago Dental Studio in West Loop!!! Like many, I dread visiting…read morethe dentist for routine cleanings, but my experience here was stellar (and now, my teeth are too!). From start to finish, I felt taken care of by the entire team and was highly impressed by their warmth, transparency (re: insurance pricing), and keen insights on my dental health. Thank you to the wonderful Mel, Jacinta, and Dr. Bosworth for all your hard work and professionalism - I look forward to coming back!

It has taken me quite some time to reflect upon this before writing a review. The Chicago Dental…read moreStudio is a decent facility overall, but I could never in good conscience recommend seeking dental care here due to Dr. Bosworth. The first issue that occurred is when I had a dental procedure performed. After injecting lidocaine, it took some time for Dr. Bosworth to come back and check on me. During the beginning of the procedure, he left the room to see other patients and didn't return for almost an hour. At that point, the local anesthesia had worn off and I had to undergo another unnecessary painful injection. It is quite obvious that Dr. Bosworth was juggling multiple patients at one time. This seems to be to maximize profit rather than actually focusing on providing quality care to each individual at a time. This was a scheduled appointment and it is never acceptable for a patient to have a needle stuck in their mouth, and then be essentially ignored for an hour, and then have to be stuck again just due to the wait. The second and much more concerning issue was regarding a crown that was placed. I had a root canal performed years before. Dr. Bosworth placed a crown over this area. Several month's later, I started having pain. When I saw Dr. Bosworth, he assured me that could not be the case since I should have no sensation in the area with the nerve already removed. I mentioned this several additional times and each time Dr. Bosworth wrote me off and ignored my concerns. I came to find out that there may sometimes be accessory nerves that may remain after a root canal and could absolutely continue to cause pain. I mentioned this to Dr. Bosworth yet again and he essentially told me that this was not the case and that my pain was from something else. Fast forward to a year later and I saw a different dentist as the pain was getting worse. They performed imaging and confirmed I had an accessory nerve in place that was indeed infected. The infection was too significant and had been occurring for so long that they would not be able to drill through the crown and tooth to treat the infection. I ended up having to spend thousands of dollars and go through several painful procedures to have the tooth extracted, then months later have a post placed, and then ultimately have another crown placed. I was informed by my new care team that this all could have been avoided if the accessory nerve infection was treated initially. This is despite me laying out the exact diagnosis for Dr. Bosworth. It is concerning that he lacks this medical knowledge despite his training, and even more concerning that this is the case after his patient had handed him the exact diagnosis. The pain and cost that I sustained due to Dr. Bosoworth's negligence is something I will always regret. I should have never gone to this dentist. I can't change what happened, but I would like to warn anyone thinking of seeking dental care here.

You'll even find curated goodies like Eminence skincare products, vintage jewelry, and other unique finds. Jennifer is incredible--both as a person and at her craft. She's the only practitioner I trust with my skin, and this visit was extra special because I had my first more advanced treatment: an Erbium Peel laser. Afterward, my skin looked like I had a mild sunburn and felt warm, but I was still comfortable enough to meet family for dinner. Jennifer explained exactly what to expect and how to care for my skin, and she was spot-on (as always). By the next morning, the redness was gone, and my skin felt tighter, smoother, and glowing. For someone like me with super sensitive skin, Jennifer always finds the perfect balance--pushing just enough for great results without overdoing it. This treatment was the ideal first step into something a little more intensive without jumping into Botox or injectables. If you haven't visited Lustre or booked a treatment with Jennifer yet, this is your sign. She's been doing this for years, continues to expand her knowledge, and is amazing at recommending the right products--favoring organic options while also understanding when active ingredients make sense.

I had been to several consultations before I met with her, but I knew she was the one within 30 seconds of meeting. She was very clear and reasonable about my anticipated results. She listened to what I wanted and clarified what was realistic. I appreciated her honesty and it gave me a better understanding of what to expect. I scheduled the surgery with her nurse, Katie, (who is also phenomenal) and saw Dr. Cobbins a few weeks later for my preoperative appointment. I genuinely felt she was as excited as I was. She was very clear about what to expect the day before surgery, day after surgery, and follow-up instructions. She answered every single question and was available by phone, if I had any additional questions after I left. The day of surgery, I felt incredibly supported by Dr. Cobbins and Katie who have excellent bedside manner. I remember waking up after surgery with Katie sitting by me and I felt so relieved. The receptionists even entertained my mom while she was waiting for me to be discharged and I appreciate the kindness. I saw both of them again a few days later and Dr. Cobbins even met me on the weekend (when their office is technically closed) to remove the drain. The results were nothing less than perfect. I was so pleased with their size and shape, plus the scarring seems really minimal. Dr. Cobbins has also continued to follow-up consistently and has been available for additional questions/concerns. I don't think I will be able to express how much I appreciate her and her staff. Don't go to any other surgeon!

This is the first time I'm writing a review on my procedure. Six years ago I had a skinny bbl done…read moreby Dr Lorri Cobbins. I was naive at the time but I really wanted a little bit added to my bottom so I went in for a consult. I was also really skinny (like model skinny) so even then she told me oh yeah I've had patients your size or smaller do procedures by me, I wish she rejected me or at least did a less risky procedure since her skills didn't match the words I heard. My body was so perfect in every way before this procedure (just wanted a little boost on my bottom). I remember I said "I heard some peoples shoulders get bigger she was like "Oh no that's not true at all." She did Lipo to my stomach which barely had much fat, inner thighs, and back. Anyways 6 yrs later and I'm struggling with my body image. I've lost my confidence, my skinny bbl doesn't look great, can't find a solution because I have skin laxity on my back and stomach, scarring/tethering (again this is from the aggressive lipo she did and how she used the surgical tools), Lipo fibrosis on stomach and back and yes the upper back looks bigger. I followed all the instructions of wearing the compression garment and everything. The problem wasn't the aftercare instructions I perfectly followed, the problem was the poor surgical technique. She did aggressive lipo on me, took out too much fat because I was thin and ruined the look of my skin. I now have 2 rolls on my back that I never had before my procedure and I feel always bloated for some odd reason no matter what I eat healthy or not even though my diet didn't change. I only gained about 10 pounds (still at a weight women would love) but even with that if the surgical skills were good the body would grow out nice and even, it wouldn't look botched. I wish she rejected me and told me to come back in a year or 2 if I want something permanent after I try something temporary. I wish she told me thoroughly and openly what kind of problems can come up (this was only briefly discussed and none of the problems I have now were discussed as potential issues after surgery). I wish she gave me a temporary option or smaller procedure not as damaging as a first solution to see what it would look like. I didn't receive any other options. I think plastic surgeons (especially ones who've had botched outcomes from their work) need to give a couple options and really think about if the contouring will look nice with each option so the patient can have a good long term outcome and more people will trust them for procedures. Dr. Cobbins took away the most thing that made me confident back then and damaged my body. I am struggling in every way imaginable because of this procedure done by Dr. Lorri Cobbins. The most perfect parts of my body were ruined because of horrible surgical technique and now I am left grieving it. I struggle every day to look for a way to fix it and I'm too afraid to go to someone else that may further damage me. I don't take photos anymore like I used to, I don't try on clothes when I shop like I want to. I can't look at myself in the mirror the same way. Please if you want a better/different look try temporary cosmetic things first so they go away if you don't like them and you don't have to live with the permanent result of a botched procedure.
