Hello everyone, let me tell you a quick story, I have gone through 3 major mid to crappy hair cuts, and to top it all off, they have been my 3 last hair cuts. I want to note that I do NOT trust anyone with my hair at this point, so I searched and searched and stumbled upon Bakersfield curly co and another salon... I told myself let's go with the less expensive option which I did.. and this is how it went: My last hair cut was October 27 (*NOT HERE THOUGH *)I chopped a big chunk. I do want to share that the shorter my hair, the curlier it gets ...I asked for shoulder length and that is what I got... and I will say that it was decent, I paid $70 bucks for it and I was satisfied when I first walked out of the salon, mind you of course they did styling and diffusing and all that right, put some creams, you know the drill. However, when I got home showered the next day, I could not bring a single curl to stay, i try to keep my hair routine simple, and it's effective, (hydration cream, gel, and diffuse) ... at this point I know what works and what doesn't, so of course I panicked, the texture of my hair was NOT the same after the hair cut, it was puffy yet so flat, no shape, it wasn't even wavy... and to add a bit of drama, it was a curly hair girl horror story, where did my curls go ? As desperate as I felt I only saw a window of hope with Bakersfield curly co.. which I had only explored here in yelp, I decided to go on Instagram, and goodness did the curls look amazing... so I took a chance and added myself on a waitlist. While waiting, every single day was a battle with my hair, it did not matter what I did, my curls were none existent, just lazy waves at most. I was once again desperate, so I reached out to Brittany (curly hair expert) if there were anything I could do to be seen this week. She was amazing and kind and was able to squeeze me in, I will always be thankful to her for that, and let me tell you, my hair ? AMAZING, I love it, and I'll confess I'm quite picky ... She did a dry cut on my hair to ensure there would be good shape to it and it's wonderful, she also taught me technique on how to apply product and other tricks to add volume to my hair.. I love the shape, I love the volume, the definition, the way it frames my face... she was also once again very kind and accommodating, she truly is magic! I will say that you will get what you pay for. I will definitely encourage everyone with wavy to curly hair to please do yourself a favor and book an appointment! You will not regret it! read more

I booked a curly haircut with Danielle last week after not having a curly cut in way too long. At least 3 years. When I tell you that all of my curly hair life the amount of bad experiences I've had at hair salons, you wouldn't believe it. I think I speak for most curly girls how one can develop hair cut ptsd because I would go yeaaars without getting a cut just because I didn't want to deal with the constant disappointments. Well, that changed the day I found this place on yelp back in 2021. I was like welp I've had bad experiences before, doesn't hurt to try. Let me tell you. For the first time in my entire life I left satisfied, happy and finally NOT disappointed at my hair cut. I highly recommend her if your story is similar to mine. I've been to four different Ouidad stylist over the last seven years and so far she has given me the best Ouidad cuts I've ever had. I asked her to help me have better hair and she did. I found her through yelp and then checked via the Ouidad site that she was trained for curl cuts. She knows the Ouidad cut and she knows it well... my hair looks great. It was a pretty penny, more than I like to spend on my hair, but since I really only need to spend that once a year or so, I say it was worth it. I think I was charged $120 but I can't remember now. Before the cut my curls were heavily weighed down and pulled down with it looking almost straight in the back. The attached picture is after I washed it the first time... look at all that body. I would highly recommend because curl cuts are hard to find in Bakersfield and she's a lovely woman. read more
