I thought my last two stylists did an ok job with curly hair, but Matricia blew them out of the water. She has curly hair that she leaves curly (which is a good indicator for sure!) So she understands how to style hair with it's natural curl rather than relying on heat styling. She is very responsive by text and went above and beyond to make sure I'll be happy with the end results. I got a trim to even out an old asymmetrical cut and I don't think I've ever had a cut lay just right like this before. She also attempted a color only balayage for me to minimize damage and it's beautiful but not as vibrant as I'd like, so she is going to go back and lighten it a step or two. She's a curl specialist (but does a beautiful job with all hair), and unlike most curl specialists does not use Deva Curl products (which I do not like at all!!!). Rather, she uses the diametrix method and mostly Curlisto products which are fabulous. My hair has never looked this good! She also took the time to explain to me how to style my hair myself and offers longer tutorials as well. She took her time even though it was late and she did such a great job. I absolutely love my new hair cut!! Tricia was amazing and she is such a pro! She knew exactly what she was doing. I can honestly say I have never gotten such a good hair cut in my life. As you can see from the pictures, I really wanted a drastic change. I showed Tricia a couple of pictures I had found to give her an idea of what I wanted. She listened and we talked for bit until she got the idea. I have to say she gave me exactly what I wanted. I love my new haircut so much!! Here's my hair journey in more detail - I have only cut my hair above shoulder once and it was about ten years ago. I remember absolutely hating my haircut. But that was also at a time when I wasn't properly caring for and embracing my curls. I've been caring for my curls now for about 4 years (I even put up the hair straightener for good). I've always been afraid of a short hair cut because I didn't want to have a big poof ball on my head. But I learned that using the right products will give me soft curls with definition and without the poof. I've always loved to short look on other people and always wanted to try it out. So I decided to take a chance. I honestly prepared for the worst. I told myself if I hate it, it'll grow back. And heck we are in quarantine so it's not like anyone will see it I honestly have never loved my hair more in my life then when I first saw it finished after Tricia was done with it. As someone who has struggled to love, accept, and embrace her curls their entire life I just can't get over how much I love the way it looks. I've tried so many "curly" hairstylists before and they have always just cut my long hair into layers. Tricia was the first hairstylist to tell me about the diametrix cut. I could tell the difference instantly. The products she used gave my roots so much volume. I was really impressed with this since I feel like I had tried everything to get more volume but nothing worked. For years I never really understood my hair. Growing up my mother raised me with the idea that my hair needed to be blow-dried straight in order to me presentable. However, I hated having gone through the pain-stackingly 1.5-2 hours it always took to groom my mop. I always wondered why my hair could never be naturally straight on its own, why was it always so thick, frizzy, and unevenly patterned? Year after year I let different stylists play with my hair, selling me products that never seemed to work at home to give me the results I wanted. Frankly, I didn't even know what I wanted anymore. I got to a point in my life where I wanted short hair just to avoid dealing with the madness. Mousse works nice from time to time, but it leaves my hair dry, crunchy, and flakey. All I can say is WOW. I got my haircut with Tricia a week ago after she was able to fit me in due to a cancellation. I haven't had a haircut in years and haven't met anyone that I can trust to cut my hair without charging an arm and a leg, and even then, the cut never comes out as I had hoped. I was so fortunate to have found Tricia of "Curly Hair Pro" after moving to Florida from Rhode Island recently. Not only did she give me the best curly cut of my life but, she also taught me the correct way to style my hair. I have been going to Tricia for my auburn (previously) curly hair. Tricia does an amazing job with curly hair, and she was even able to match the unusual hair color that I grew up with.
