The power was out in a good portion of Tacoma due to a storm, so I was on a mission to find a place to work. I went down to Old Town and found Curran Coffee. Ordered a drip coffee. Coffee was dark, smooth and strong! Service was great, the girls at the counter were really welcoming. Wifi was fast and seating was great at the bar overlooking Old Town. This will be one of my go to coffee shops in Tacoma now. read more

Love this new coffee shop in old town Tacoma!! It's so cute and cozy :). Street parking was pretty easy to find. Baristas were friendly and quick. I tried the honey nut matcha (pistachio, matcha, honey) which was a really interesting combo + also tried the taurus (vanilla chai, chocolate, macadamia nut) - both were super good! Taurus was definitely sweeter than the honey nut matcha. I'm not sure which one I liked better.. I definitely want to go back and try their coffee though. Inside, there are a couple tables, some counter seats, and a couch. Seems like a great place to chat with a friend or get some work done! Loved the cozy vibes. They also had a big Christmas tree at the window for the holiday season which was so cute. Prices were average for a coffee shop. Overall, I would recommend checking it out!!! read more

Excellent coffee & wonderful vibes & great employees. The employees made great recommendations re: how to change a drink to my liking (I got a Gemini with half sweetness). The whole coffee shop was so cute & the best plate to post up & work (especially as someone from out of town who was only in Tacoma for the day). The place was busy but not chaotic & it was cool seeing how many regulars stopped by & talked with the baristas. Curran Coffee clearly is a neighborhood staple. The coffee & everything bagel pinwheels were amazing. I'm not sure when I'll be in Tacoma next but I'll absolutely stop by the next time I am. read more

Visiting Washington and found this little coffee shop. Was sad we couldn't find a spot to sit but you know that means it's good. I got a little pastry and it was delicious and had a bagel which was also good. The lady that took my order was super sweet and had great customer service. Oh! Glad that we were in Old Town Tacoma (a neighborhood we don't often go to) and came across Curran Coffee, a new coffee shop that opened where the old Spar restaurant used to be. The space is reduced from the size of the restaurant was so keep that in mind as the place is new and pretty popular as far in regards to seating there. The drinks here are wonderful! I got the shop's version of the London Fog. Oat Milk was in it instead of regular milk which balanced off of the earl grey flavor in a great way giving it a great complex flavor. Wow! It was good! Steve got the Desert Rain which was a berry Italian Soda which was phenomenal. Pastries are great too! I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I first came here on Memorial Day, happy they were open. The girl at the counter was such a vibe. You know when you meet people for the first time and know they have good energy? Yes, that was her. I got my classic iced non-fat latte. The espresso was pulled perfectly and the drink was smooth. If you are a work from homer looking to do some work, heads up, this place only has 3 tables and like 8 seats at their window bar. 2/3 tables have access to outlets and there's only 1 outlet near the window bar. I didn't have trouble finding a seat or an outlet, but just make sure to charge up before hand. Located in Tacoma. Street parking. Indoor seating. Great wifi. read more

If you've read some of my reviews then you know I'm always down for a cup of I was amused with the option of Gemini well ha because I am!! But because there's hazelnut and I'm allergic to hazelnut I did not order instead I went with Moonlight Macchiato espresso, toffee nut and caramel topped with whip, Im a whip cream baby!!! And yeasss that hit the spot as I moseyed down to the waterfront! The seating was nice , plenty of natural light, with a couple of tables outside of the shop but I just wanted to explore the area and it is a nice area to take a walk or bike ride even. There is plenty of street parking, you can pay with cash or card and I definitely tipped the barista was friendly and quick and the coffee was just as good!! read more

Cute lil coffee shop in a really great location. The wait was a tad long and has minimal seating but it's a great option for grabbing to go and walking over to the water. The cashier was really accommodating and positive! Was intrigued by the different cream cheese options... we tried the garlic one and felt like it was not really a cream cheese consistency but more like a thick cheesy paste. Still pretty good! This new coffee shop has been on my radar especially after reading all the great reviews they have received so far and I finally got a chance to stop by. I decided to try out their Gemini latte and a morning roll. The latte was definitely one of the best I've had in awhile and the flavor profile was spot on as described in their menu. I had low expectations for the morning roll, but it was surprisingly delicious. The barista was friendly and the inside of the shop is very cozy/small so not a space for a larger group to come, but it was perfect for me and my husband to enjoy coffee together. Second time at Curran Coffee! Such a great place to relax and read a book. The music in this cafe is 10/10. My boyfriend and I ordered a White Chocolate Mocha and it had great flavor you can taste the freshness of the roast. The Everything croissant pinwheel is YUMMY!! Melts in your mouth especially when you get it warmed! They have an actually warmer they use versus throwing something in a microwave and all the other pastries are so fresh. This was possibly the best coffee I've had in years. The Gemini was delicious, perfectly frothed, just sweet enough but a bold enough shot of espresso for the notes to ring through. In my opinion this was a 10/10 coffee. I don't think it can be better than what I got today. Beyond that the ambiance and service were fantastic, they had free WiFi, several different seating areas (including some outdoors for a nice day). The barista who took my order was extremely kind and gave a great recommendation. The coffee came out quick and the music was perfect. The only thing and I mean the ONLY thing I would change is how much space there is to wait for a to-go order. Everything was phenomenal and I'll be coming back every chance I get. read more

This was exactly what we were looking for. We have been hitting spots all around Tacoma for a good weekend coffee experience for my wife and I. I have hit most of my old stomps and while I am typically happy with my coffee, my wife feels hers is lacking. We have tossed a few coffees recently because they were not sweet, overly sweet, bitter, etc. This though, was perfect. A shot in the dark that wasnt overly bitter and a pumpkin spice that wasnt too sweet and tasted like fall. Perfection. We will be back for sure. It was cozy and lovely. Five stars for a great local coffee shop in Ruston. super cute neighborhood with free parallel parking and I haven't had a hard time finding parking on that block on weekend days. The area is walkable if you need to go up a block or two, just be careful of the hills. The staff is super friendly and the pastries are fantastic. I usually get an oat milk matcha latte- they use a high quality unsweetened matcha that is absolutely perfect with just a small pump of simple syrup (you can also do a flavor or sugar or honey). This most recent visit I tried the coffee since I felt like to review a coffee shop to the best of my ability I had to try the coffee. While the oat milk they use doesn't pair as smoothly with the espresso as it did with the matcha you can tell the espresso is great- no bitterness at all. I got an iced oat milk latte with vanilla given the heat and will have to try other combinations. Next time I might just do an iced americano to get a truer picture of the coffee. They're dog and kid friendly and between there and next door there's a lot of indoor seating as well as a few tables outside. Overall a great neighborhood coffee shop and I will definitely be back. read more

I was nervous about parking but going so early in the morning meant the parallel parking out front was pretty much all available. The entrance was stroller accessible and while the inside was small it didn't feel tight - just cozy! I love their branding, it was all so cute. I just got a bagel with cream cheese and an iced vanilla latte. The latte was way better than the bagel and cream cheese, and I'm excited to explore the rest of their drinks menu!
