I love Curran Coffee! I'm so glad I found this coffee shop during my time in Tacoma as this place was the perfect way to start my week-long conference. Curran Coffee is a delightful coffee shop in north Tacoma, with the friendliest staff and charming location. I wanted to find a coffee spot on the way to the University of Puget Sound where my conference was from the hotel I was staying, and fortunately, Curran Coffee was there for me. After trying Curran Coffee for the first time, I ended up visiting again for my coffee and breakfast run as it ended up being better than the other Tacoma coffee spots I tried. Located in north Tacoma in the cutest neighborhood, it definitely has that local, neighborhood vibe. In fact, every time I visited Curran Coffee, the baristas recognized many of the other patrons who were clearly frequent customers and locals, and would chat with them about everything. I love these kind of businesses where the staff and community members have formed a friendship! The coffee is good with many inventive drinks and pastries from the local Three Hearts bakery in Tacoma. I ordered the Taurus drink once and ended up getting it every time I visited. It's a dirty vanilla chai with chocolate and macadamia, which is one of my favorite combinations. Also for breakfast, one of their only savory pastries they offer here is a ham and swiss croissant from Three Hearts. And I'm not a ham fan, but this was one of the best croissants I've had! It was a great breakfast that I ordered each time I visited Curran. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my go-to coffee shop. But it was awesome to have found this during my week in Tacoma, for some much-needed coffee and a pastry to start the day. Thank you, Curran!

My iced tea was very good! Love that they have different options for iced tea as well. The cashier was nice and the ambiance is quite nice. There are not too many outlets however so had to wait for one to open up. Overall very cute and definitely would recommend.

Delicious and great staff. Customer service is really amazing, Audrey was nice enough to make my dogs some pup cups alongside my human order. I love their unique drinks (classic ones are delish too) and the pastries are great. Inside can be pretty warm on hot days but the outdoor seating is always an option.

Best coffee shop I've ever been to! The espresso flavor was phenomenal, the syrups were top notch, and their bagels are quite literally the best I ever had. Prices are reasonable, the staff is very friendly, and the cafe is cute as well. I cannot say enough good things about this spot. You MUST try it yourself.

There was a line out that door (but moved very fast) and I know why bc the drinks are delish. I had the spiced coconut chai. I asked for it not to be too sweet and it was absolutely delightful. Oh and the perfect temp so I didn't burn my mouth while still enjoying a hot drink. Service was excellent too. We were greeted with smiles and didn't feel rushed. read more

Finally made it out to this spot! I've been a long time fan of the Curran sisters so I knew this was going to be good. I got an oat milk latte with honey which was perfection. Curran Coffee is hands down the best coffee shop in Tacoma! I go out of my way to visit this place whenever I'm in the area. The owners, Emily and Jordan (who are sisters), have created such a welcoming and warm environment for their customers to enjoy. The location is perfect for grabbing a coffee then going on a walk to Ruston Way. Not to mention, their iced lattes are so good! I've tried all different kinds and every single item has been amazing. Cute cafe' in the heart of old town Ruston. Big windows to sit and watch people stroll by. The coffee is wonderfully prepared by a friendly staff who will ask you about your day and what adventures you are on. Its obvious that the owners are passionate about their business and employees. Love love love Curran! As someone who is a "coffee snob" their coffee is always great. The owners are sisters and have created a welcoming environment whether you're on the go, having a family coffee date, or getting some work done. The staff is friendly and provide quick service. They do have limited seating, but have overflow tables in the Spar restaurant which is connected. They are located just up from the waterfront, so a great place to grab a coffee and take a walk as well. Hands down favorite coffee shop in Tacoma! read more

I loved it! This place is super cute and comfy. I would go here everyday but if you catch the shop in a rush there is no place to sit and work. The baristas are so kind and inviting, conversations flow naturally which make you feel at home. I very much LOVE the drinks. The Taurus got me back I to drinking Chai!! Highly recommend if you want a cute coffee shop in Tacoma with a nice treat. read more

This is my go-to coffee shop in Tacoma! The sisters who own Curran Coffee do such a great job creating a welcoming environment and sourcing their coffee and pastries from local vendors. The shop is just one block up from Ruston Way waterfront... perfect for a beautiful walk with your coffee! I bring all of my friends and family here when they come to visit. 10/10! read more

I went in and it had the feeling of the family coffee shop in my old town, very gentle atmosphere, they had a wide selection of pastries and had genuine coffee (you'd be surprised how hard it is to find non burnt coffee) hope to see them there for a long time. read more

Curran coffee recently opened on the left side of the Spar, and I am so happy they did! The location is perfect and they revamped the cafe in the most beautiful way. The owners are so incredibly nice and make the most delicious beverages! Everything about the new cafe makes you want to come back again and again. They also have the cutest gift cards ever! Friendliest staff! Small, but comfortable coffee place in Old Town Tacoma. I found it very welcoming and can tell the staff genuinely want to know their customers. One really feels like a guest there. The only downside is that on several occasions I've noticed one or two college students taking up one of two (I recall) tables for just themselves. It can be frustrating when a group wants to spend money on multiple drinks and sit but cannot because *one* person sits at a four-person table with their laptop. But that's on the customer, not the business, I suppose. I wonder if more seating can be accommodated? Also, my friend and I wanted to order another coffee and food but the musician playing his acoustic guitar amplified through his amp made it too loud to enjoy a conversation from across the room on a Saturday morning lol so we immediately left. Despite these small observations, I couldn't be more impressed with the service and quality of the coffee. I highly recommend this establishment and will continue to support them. read more

My sister and I went here to find a cute study spot. The bagels were AMAZING! The coffee wasn't my favorite but still fine. I got a plain latte and it had way to much milk and you couldn't really taste the actual coffee. The owners are great and they make sure that all there costumers are taken care of and happy! What made me write this review is how accurate the owner (Brianne) described cake and desserts in the description and the baked goods taste matched 200% of the description. The pistachio cake was out of the world, so was the whoopie pie!!! I got to meet Brianne in person and she was very friendly, and was kind to explain everything about each of her baked goods she had out that day. I've tried their baked goods from pop tarts to cookies to housemade Twinkie and the creation and taste are unmatched. Single serve baked goods were more on pricier side, but well worth every bite. I would definitely order custom baked goods from here, knowing the quality and taste of products from this shop!!! Currently, you can find Spilled Butter baked goods at Cosmonaut coffee, Outer Dark Coffee, and at Tacoma Farmers Market (also known as Tacoma Broadway Farmers Market) from time to time. Enjoy!!!

It's an Eastern European bakery, and grocery store with products from multiple Eastern Europe countries. The selections are very good and then there is the bread baked daily except on Sunday. A bonus is the fact all the fresh baked bread can be sliced for you or you can take it home and slice it yourself. Having this service is great. Dark rye, 12-grain, and others that are....... well too many and all looked delicious. There is fresh baked Lavash, soft and delicious and many of the breads were still warm and fresh. The fresh piroshki! Awesome to say the least, Chicken, Cheese, Cabbage, and Apricot were available and hot. Look you can go to the other market on 70th and get very good stuff and pay quite a lot more, or go to Kusher and get a better selection and pay reasonable prices. Nothing says "great workout" quite like immediately replacing every calorie you just burned with one of Bakery Nouveau's twice-baked chocolate croissants. I prefer to think of it as strategic carbohydrate replenishment. Everything here is exceptional. The pastries are buttery, flaky, and somehow manage to ruin every grocery store croissant for the rest of your life. The coffee is excellent, the staff is consistently friendly, and it's one of those places where it's impossible to leave with only the one thing you came in for. The neighborhood feels safe, parking is plentiful, and the only real hazard is convincing yourself you deserve "just one more pastry." Five stars. My spin instructor may disagree. Bakery Nouveau is worth every extra minute on the bike.

They have a tasty and affordable selection of breads and pastries. I especially love their red bean bun, green bean bun, and manju--so soft and just the right amount of sweetness! I also tried their whipped cream fruit cake and it was delicious--light, creamy, and just like the ones I remember from childhood birthdays. I used to receive Mom's vietnamese home cooking frequently and I lived near the Asian hubbubs with easy access to all the cuisine, but now I have to discover new places here in Washington to satiate my taste buds. Everything I've tried so far has been good. I've been content. But here!! I ordered takeout through Doordash, and as soon as I picked up my food, an aroma of so many flavors filled up my car. Parking is kinda annoying since it's on the street but I arrived within 30 mins of opening hours so it wasn't terrible yet. The restaurant already had at least a table or so, with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if it got busier later. There's a fair amount of space and tables for hungry stomachs! The food was about ready by the time I arrived, and the 30 min drive home left me feeling famished and ready to dig in. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Everything was packaged well so that nothing spilled during the car ride, and everything was so yummy! I ordered more than I originally intended... I was craving com tam (broken rice) and couldn't find a satisfactory place near my residence, so I drove all the way here to Tacoma.. and then I figured, I might as well order their Banh Xeo too! The photos online made it look so good, and it ended up tasting amazing! Slightly crispy and stuffed just enough with bean sprouts, meat, and other goodies. Perfect after drizzling some of the sauce over it. The Com Tam was also made well, and definitely hit my cravings with its classic ingredients. I ordered a Large Pho Bo Vien (meatball) for my son, and was sooo tempted to eat some myself. The broth smelled fresh and the noodles were cooked nicely. Decent portions for everything, too. I definitely need to return to try out more of their food. So far, it has made me one happy Viet gal :)

It was so good 10000/10 The girls were super nice and friendly! The vibe was good.

I recently checked out this coffee shop on their opening day and it was so charming - just like a classic coffee shop should be! What's more, the place is always so clean and well-kept. The staff there are incredibly friendly and eager to help you find the perfect drink. The coffee menu has all the usual suspects, but also some really cool unique options! My husband is absolutely obsessed with the Gemini drink. Needless to say, I can't wait to come back here again and again! read more

We stopped by Curran Coffee and ordered a matcha and a mocha, and both were really good! The space is beautiful and super inviting. It definitely feels like a community spot since the line was pretty long, and most of the seats were taken. The lady at the counter was super friendly and made sure to chat with us and get our order just right. Overall, I'd totally recommend this place and can't wait to come back.
