Cake was light, almost angel cake, but sweet and vanilla-ish. And the whipped cream was sweet not too sweet and so airy! The strawberries were also sweet, not too tart. Bakery inside Hmart with nice staff. No real ambience but you can sit on plastic tables with attached chairs. Wide variety of pastries and cakes but I have twice had a matcha "donut". OMG so good. It is a round ball with granulated sugar outside. It is packages in twos but you can also buy a single. The 2-pack was $5.50. It has a great chewy texture. So addictive. Apparently they are often out by the end of the day but they had several left at 2p. I had great willpower saving the second to share with my partner! read more

I've been going to this bakery for 10+ yrs and love their pastries. My favorite was the big green tea coconut raisin bread but sadly I think they discontinued it. My family and I normally get the cream cheese bread or sweet cream bread. They did a wonderful job creating a birthday cake for my Grandpa! The owner was really nice and let me place an order the day before. I told them I needed a cake size for ~20 people and this quarter size was perfect. The cake was filled with fresh fruits and not too sweet which is exactly what my family loves lol. Very generous on the light and fluffy cake frosting. The only thing is I wished the cake looked a little more decorative with the fruits on top, cursive writing and maybe an exclamation point at the end of the wording so it doesn't look too plain. One of my fav. Bakeries if you have a sweet tooth, but not too sweet! They have an awesome cake with a white whipped cream topping , topped w/ strawberries which is one of my very favorites anywhere! They have a very strong unique box with a strong sturdy handle and they even place a good size plastic knife inside which is actually worth cleaning and saving for picnics or something. (Works quite well!) They also have a very interesting selection of other items. There has not been anything there that I didn't like. The Service is very good, & they are very friendly & helpful. There are some tables, but they are in a shopping store towards the back. It's usually very busy, but if you're just wanting a quick bite of something, & don't mind the crowds, it's fine... Bought a last min birthday cake from this bakery for a family member. The cake was very delicious and wasn't very heavy as others so I didn't feel bloated or full after eating it. So many adorable and delicious looking treats, it was hard to choose. I ended up selecting a small (honey)cake and the rice (yeast?) Donuts. A wonderful gem in the HMart at Federal Way. Unlike most H Marts which seem to have a patisserie chain such as Tous Les Jours or Paris Baguette, this seems to be a more homegrown operation with unique and high quality offerings that distinguish it from more generic Asian pastry shops. Seoul Bakery is a hidden treasure inside the H Mart in Federal Way. My first experience with a bakery of this type was near an H Mart in New Jersey. Became a profiteroles junkie as a result. Tender little bites of pate de choux dough filled with wonderful creme anglaise. While some bakeries coat the top with a chocolate, these are just wonderful without. Also purchased some madeleines. When I think of my many years living in Korea a lot of things come to mind. As strange as it may seem to some of you, bakeries are something that I miss from my time there. There were three bakeries just like this within a few blocks from where I lived. Korean style bakeries are places to not only get sweet stuff, but they have a great selection of savory baked goods as well. The ones in Korea are much bigger than this and offer much more, but this place is great for the Seattle area and have a nice selection of Korean style baked goods. As soon as you get to Seoul Bakery walk up to the area by the register and grab a paper-lined tray to put your baked goods on. It makes it easier since not everything is already in a plastic bag. There are tongs located in the areas where there are items that are loose and not prepackaged. If for some reason you cannot locate any tongs, ask the people behind the counter. They are always polite and helpful. If you're like me you would probably want to take a little bit of everything home, but sadly that would not be in your best interest. Fortunately for you, if you want to try some of the items they usually have some samples cut up available to taste. There are toothpicks located close by the samples. Make sure you grab the NEW toothpicks and not the USED ones to get your sample with. When I was last there there were samples of several items I had not tried there yet and I will definitely try them at some point in the future. They also have a good selection of cakes and if you like Asian style cakes they are amazing. They are not overly sweet and look beautiful. I bought two cakes here previously and everyone commented on how wonderful they tasted. They were a big hit and would definitely recommend giving them a try. My favorite item is a wonderful, small and rugby ball shaped green tea and sweet rice treat. It tastes exactly like the ones I used to get in Korea. It is a bit heavier than some of their other items but the taste is perfectly balanced. They make a sweet rice one without green tea too if you don't like the taste of tea. Just thinking about it now is totally making me wish I had one. They go great with hot tea on a cold day. It's coated with sugar so make sure you eat it within a day or two or it won't stay fresh for long. I like anything made with green tea that I have had from them and I also really like the red bean pastries they have. They are not too sweet and the filling inside is blended to a perfect consistency that complements the outer pastry. True perfection. Their scones are great and go great with tea. The Swiss rolls with cream are all good but I prefer the green tea one the best. If I had to pick the best cookies that they sell, I like their chocolate cookies the best. I love the fact that Seoul Bakery is located inside of the H-Mart. I can go pick up the stuff I need and then relax and have a Korean baked snack as well. All of the H-Marts have bakeries inside them. This one also is in a small food court where I like to sit down and listen to the Korean music and enjoy some delicious Korean baked goods and save some to take home as well. read more

I love Korean cake so much. It is the only cake I like. I had it once from someone special for my birthday and from then on it made an impact on my life. I prefer the one with white frosting and fruit. It is very similar to strawberry short cake. The frosting is light much like reddi whip. Their soboro and mocha bread don't taste like what they are supposed to taste like. Every time I try them, I taste tap water for some reason and they are very saggy all the way although they are supposed to be crispy outside. I always thought it would get better next time every time I get them from Seoul Bakery because they are pretty much basic breads that every Korean bakery serves, but it disappointed me and my wife enough times that we decided to leave this review. read more

H-Mart is pretty much Heaven on earth, however, I have not been too impressed with the vendors, Seoul Bakery is one of those. I really want to give them a 2.5 star but I cant, so I will be nice and give it a 3, they do have good prices. We got our usual of rice donut twists, some cream filled buns, and red bean buns. We get these at all Korean bakeries. They were no where near the quality of what I would say the typical Korean bakery has. Everything tasted almost day old. The red bean bun was soo greasy and lacked real depth of flavor. Their cream buns were pretty good but the bun part still did not taste as fresh as I am used to. My kids LOVE this bakery - it's the itty bitty bakery inside of HMART. Daughter #1 - like the rolls stuffed with cream and fruit and little one likes the "sticks" - braided sugar crispy sticks - these 2 items cost $7 so they are definitely more of a treat than everyday items.
