I had a lousy experience. Imagine I was only made aware of the discontinuation of the old currency in pounds sterling whe I went to exchange the old notes. This is actually funny or perhaps I am the only person who usually gets update on what's going on is backward. All I can say is that Jamaica has issued a warning Notice that up to July 01st 2025 all inhabitants have the right to get rid of the old currency. I visited the location in Chelsea, 7th Ave btween 29th & 30th St. I was in desperate need of currency for my son, who was traveling to Dubai in two days. Salvador, the kind, fantastic, and super helpful attendant, did everything to get me the currency I needed. He gave me everything he had left and checked all the offices in the area. When he found one with enough money to cover the rest of what I needed, he immediately called and asked them to put the money on hold for me. He gave me clear instructions to follow up. At the end of the day I went home with the amount I needed, after going to my back and other banks earlier. This business claims to have a Best Rate Guarantee on its website. I was selling leftover currency from a recent trip. I found a verifiable better rate than CXI's at a bank down the street on the same day (per instructions on the website). But the CXI location on Lexington Ave and 63rd St in NYC would not match, let alone beat that rate. First they said that they weren't aware of the guarantee (which I showed them). Then, I needed to exchange at least $1000 (that's not what the website says). Then they said they couldn't because the rate was "too good" (again, there are ZERO qualifiers, no asterisk on the website). Unbelievable. read more

I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience with this company - not only this brand, but also the UES location. I probably called a thousand times asking for quotes, comparing for quotes, and requesting for fees to be waived - and they were more than nice about it! (def not used to that after living in the city for so long). Jane at the UES location started it all for me. Then I realized they also had a location next to Penn, right next to my office! I called on Monday asking for an order of a specific currency, and they were able to order and receive it within ONE day. In addition, I called around to ask for quotes from 3 other places and confirmed with CXI that they would match the better rates. A day later, I called around to gather that day's quotes, jotted it down in my notebook, and went to CXI. When I got there, Besik dropped what he was doing to help me. I told him I had received better quotes from elsewhere and he was able to match it all while eliminating all fees. My transaction took awhile, and another customer was standing behind me, and he was also trying to help him out as well - I even overheard him say "because you waited so long, I am happy to waive all fees for you" before he was asked - how nice is that! Found this place on yelp and exchanged Danish Krone (DKK), Hungarian Forint (HUF), and Czech Koruna (CZK) here. The rates are better than A&S Foreign Exchange (a couple stores away) and Omnex Group Uno Foreign (they don't even have HUF or CZK with them). You can request a quote online to see the rates from CXI on yelp first before you go, they're pretty quick in responding. Service was great and I'll definitely come back again. Make sure you compare the rates because sometimes A&S offer better rates. Checking in on yelp can also help you save a couple bucks on the fee. ($5, mine was actually waived!) read more

One of the great things about this location is that A&S currency exchange is literally a 30 second walk to the south. I was able to ask for a quote, then come to Currency Exchange International and compare prices. Note that A&S has more limited opening hours, so check their page. Have some Euro coins from my recent trip to Amsterdam so decided to stop by for first time since location close to my office. Went to exchange and they don't accept it here, really not a problem BUT the guy in booth was extremely rude and barley made eye contact. Felt as if I was interrupting him in his living room rather than his place of employment smh. Won't return here again wether I have dollars to exchange or not. RUDE! My review is really for CXI overall, and not for this specific location. In fact the one star I'm giving goes to Aslan, the cashier, who I think tried to help. I was looking to purchase Vietnamese Dong - I went to Chase who offered a rate of roughly $96 for 2M dong. I decided I wanted 6M but didn't have the cash, so I decided to stop by CXI on my way home since I saw on their website they have a price match guarantee. I got there and handed them on paper the handwritten rate offered by Chase, and Aslan said it was too low and then called his manager who said 'no' and told me $106 but could waive the fee down to $102. We called chase and Aslan spoke directly with Chase who confirmed the rate. Then we called back his manager who said they don't price match the Dong since it's too volatile. I asked if I could talk to a mgr because their price match policy is proudly displayed on their website and mentions nothing about currency restrictions. I then called HQ in Florida and explained the situation. He put me on hold for 10 mins and then asked to speak to Aslan- they spoke for another five mins then hung up. Aslan then informed me that they don't price match Chase since Chase's rates are not displayed on a website- I wasn't able to find any rates on CXI website, but that's besides the point. I was told I should have emailed Chase and captured in writing what the rate was... Even though CXI spoke directly with Chase on the phone who confirmed the handwritten rate I brought in. To me this is fraud...they had ample opportunities to make this right and they failed at management, corporate, and HQ levels. I spent over an hour there trying to get them to match a rate- which would have saved me a measly $18... ironically I was told if I returned there to exchange back, they would waive the fee- I don't think so. read more

I stopped by on a Tuesday to ask a few questions and requested a specific amount of break down of monies I would liked and by Wednesday all my requests were processed.
