This place was really tasty and had awesome service! Both my dad and sister got the special salmon tacos, my sister with the pasta salad, and my dad with the green Chile. They both really liked them, my sisters only complaint was that the sauce drizzled on the salmon was kinda spicy so she had to wipe it off. I got the pork chop special which was really good! The best part of it was the onion sauce to dip the meat, green beans and mashed potatoes in. Our server, Savannah was great, extremely friendly and attentive. My step-mom got a salad with salmon, she said the salmon on the salad was cold which she had never had before but actually really enjoyed it. I also like that the restaurant reinforced not using straws by not giving you any and if you asked for one giving you a paper straw. read more

The waitress was so sweet. She had all of inside and outside by herself and I was fine for waiting a little on things. They were so sweet about our service dog. I had the burger of the day which was a sweet chili habanero cheese burger. My boyfriend order the normal burger but added grilled onions and avocado. He order a local IPA and I had a local ale. Their food was just ok, nothing special. It reminded us a regular diner comfort food. The server was great! Their drinks were ok: no fresh ingredients, food coloring and food flavoring. For a starter we ordered lobster queso dip - it tasted fine, it was to liquidy. It was very cold and snowy outside, My husband ordered chicken pot pie: nothiyspecial, very thick potato stew with a heavy biscuit crust on top. I ordered special for the day: pan fried grouper with sweet mashed potato and buttery green beans. The fish had a funny taste, maybe the fats they use to fry it or the fish wasn't as fresh. I asked for lemon to help with flavor. Sweet mashed was fine, would be better if there will be no potato skin. Green beans were fine. We always go to Currents when we are in Salida, and went twice on our last weekend getaway. The first time was our traditional lunch when we first got into town. I had the Honey Smoked Salmon Wrap and the SO had the Pot Pie, and we both enjoyed our meals along with some tasty beer for the SO, and a bubbly split (small bottle) for me. For dinner a few nights later, I had the fish tacos that I had been craving and the SO had a pasta dish. With more beer and bubbly. If you do like those sparkling wine splits, you may need to ask as the waiter on the 2nd visit wasn't aware they had them. But promptly came back with a bottle after I assured him they did :). The atmosphere is funky fun bar/tavern, and the beer and wine options are quite good. The service is always super friendly, which is pretty much the way it is at all the establishments in Salida. read more

My family of five got sat and we waited for over 30 min watching tables sat after us take orders and get their food. Our waitress seemed annoyed we didn't order alcohol and didn't come back to ever take our food order. We packed up our table and left. You would think a place that had decently expensive food would take care of their patrons instead of avoiding them. We were all interested in the specials and steaks too. I sat at the bar with a girlfriend. The bartender and waitress were non existent as far as we were concerned. We never got a menu until we asked for one. The food was extremely slow to come out and we had to ask for anything we might need. Absolutely horrible service! When we asked for the bill, again, abysmal care. So we had a very long experience at this Steakhouse. When we first sat down our server Sydney came and explained in a very jumbled mess of words their extremely overpriced $75 steak special. I don't mind paying 75 bucks for a steak if it's a restaurant that clearly knows how to cook $75 steak, but when the server can't even describe it cuz she doesn't know what the beef is... Let's just say that doesn't Inspire confidence. I ordered french onion soup and it came with a bazillion little seeds in it. It was a very strange gross flavor & texture. My husband ordered a salad and it was fine. The server left our table and never came back. Eventually when she finally returned she removed my husband's now finished salad plate quickly and without refilling my beverages are asking me why I had eaten almost none of my soup and pushed it away she left my soup on the table and walked away. She didn't even look at me. 10 minutes later I had to wave her over because she was just sitting at the bar. We sat at the restaurant for another 45 minutes and had to flag her down to get a check. I have lived in Salida Colorado for over 15 years.   I have seen countless restaurants come and go.  Seemingly everyone trying to find a niche that will be unique and successful, but very few have passed the test.  One restaurant that has passed that test with flying colors is "Currents ".  They set out to be a restaurant that fills that void between bar food and fine dining. They have great burgers but they also have great steaks, pastas and comfort food that will remind you of your home.  The servers are wonderful and very professional.  If the restaurant is full and you have to sit at the bar....consider yourself lucky if "Calli "  is on duty that day.  She is one of the best bartenders to work in this small mountain town.  An expert mixologist, and so personable you may feel the need to give all those countless real estate writeups you find in many windows of the F Street real estate companies a second look.  This is a wonderful restaurant and addition to this town.  Highly recommend...enjoy! read more

When we entered the place we were asked, how many for lunch? We told her 2. She handed us a 2 menus and we were told to sit where ever we want. We went to one table, inside, and there were three flies. That is so gross. The gals were not friendly. We sat in a booth, looked at the menu, and left. Service was great, drinks were great, appetizer was great... But the STEAK dear lord, don't charge people 40$ a steak if you don't know how to cook steak. And don't be spiteful when you have something returned that was clearly wrong. Medium rare does not mean completely raw, and well done doesn't mean chopped up and burnt on the grill. We were a party of 3, entered Currents Restaurant on a Tuesday night (8/15/23) at 8:45pm, posted closing was 10pm. The outside tables, 8, were full. Inside, two guests sat at the bar, a table of 2 were finishing their meal, a party of 8 was being seated (only 2 guests had arrived) We waited 3-4 minutes to be seated, the hostess was also the busser. The wait was fine. Looked like there were 4 people in the kitchen and 2 wait staff, one female and one male. The hostess sat us, left 3 menus and 2 waters. She left us and proceeded to clean tables. Next, another party of 2 were seated behind us. The party of 8 was still trinkling in. The party behind us, seated after us, made their drink orders, and told of the night specials. The party of 8 had all arrived, their drink orders were taken, and one appetizer was delivered to their table. We, party of 3, still had not been acknowledged. The bartender attempted to deliver 2 beers to our table (party of 3, a mom and 2 teenagers) I said "ohhh not for us, but we'd love another water and ice". The bartender delivered the 2 beers to the table behind us, the correct table. And never returned.The party of 8, now all seated, placed their food order. We still had not been acknowledged, or given another water. Now a stray dog entered the restaurant, not Currents fault. The female waitress picked up the dog, carried it behind the bar, turned around carried it between our table and the party of 8 and took the dog outside. She then returned to the party of 2 behind us and took their food order, never washed her hands after handling the dog. Yuck we're out of here. After 16 minute of being seated we were never approached/ acknowledged. We stood up and left. After we were out of the restaurant my daughter committed the female and male wait staff were glaring at us threw the large front window. My son committed "it was your shirt Mom". It never occurred to me. My PRIDE shirt was greeted and given such hatred in this establishment. Very sad, inappropriate and unprofessional in this day of 2023, an organization/business is not welcoming, inclusive to ALL individuals. I hope this business will stop this repulsive behavior of their associates and impose DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Inclusion) training to all of their staff!! read more

First I have to compliment the whole service team, a great and fun group of people!!! We sat at the bar and their old fashioned made from local Woods whiskey was tasty. We had the tuna poke, green chili, and both got steaks. They knew what "blue" meant and it was cooked to perfection! All food was excellently prepared and flavorful. We went here with a group of 6. If you are a party of more than 4 expect a long wait there were only 2 tables that would accommodate a larger party and they wouldn't move tables. We ordered a few appetizers and they were ok. The calamari was a decent size order but the coating was very very salty. 2 large orders of fish and chips, they were 3 smallish pieces of fish and fries ...once again both were very salty and if we hadn't been starving after the long wait we would have sent them back. Another order was fried chicken which was once again so salty the guest couldn't finish it. Getting the trend here? Anything that was fried or battered was so salty it was almost inedible. The other 3 entrees were acceptable, but nothing really special. Maybe it was just an off-night but I wouldn't go back again not for the prices and the mediocre food. The waitress was very busy and was also hosting so we were skeptical about the service but she did a good job and kept up..we did inform her of the overly salty entrees and apparently she has been getting that complaint often so hopefully the management and the chef will take note and start tasting the food before it goes out...I thought the management might come say something but they didn't. We will keep trying to find "our place" in our extended Salida stay. read more

The pie, which is usually hot and good, was barely luke warm and didn't even fill the cup of filling.
