Don't let the location fool you. Most all of my Indian/Pakistani dining experience has come from eating in the ethnic neighborhood in Chicago. I really was excited to try this place based on the other ratings. Food was quite good, maybe a little too spicy for my palate. I am totally ok with that vs bland food. They had vegetarian and meat based dishes as well as staples such as naan. Portions are large enough to get more than ones meal if dining alone. I would not recommend planning to dine in as there were limited in seating. While I was waiting for my food there was constantly stream of carryouts going. So you know the place must be popular. Food is delicious! But be warned, their spice level runs HOT! We usually order a medium heat level on Indian and Thai food when eating out; enough for extra flavor but not so hot you are sweating and can hardly taste the food. So we ordered everything at a 5 (out of 10 when ordering on their website, though some people mentioned it is out of 7 at the restaurant). That was a mistake. 5 turned out to be just over the top of my threshold on all but two of the dishes, and even my husband who enjoys spicy food and hot sauces (long time fan of the series Hot Ones) said it was at the top of his threshold. Honestly though, the food was so good it turned into a "fight through the pain" sort of experience for me, but next time, we'll probably go with more of a level 2 or 3. Or, order things with different spice levels so just in case one thing is too hot, you'll have another option(s). Portions are large! The takeout containers are stuffed to the max, which was an extra star in my book. Two people could easily split an entree with rice. But with so many delicious options, who would do that? Lol! While they do offer delivery, unfortunately we live too far away so delivery was not an option for us. But it turned out to be well worth the drive each. Usually when we're trying out a restaurant for the first time, especially if it's a farther away one, we like to try a large assortment of things. So for this order we got the following: - Samosa Chaat (yum!!) - 65 (spiciest thing we ordered. I can't say much in the way of flavor because my mouth was just on fire.) - Chili Paneer (really good! Had a sweet and sour thing going on.) - Chicken Tikka Masala (good, but not something I'd rave about.) - Bhindi Masala (my absolute favorite thing we ordered!) - Kashmiri Naan (tasty but the way it's made kind of makes it crumbly/flaky, so harder to tear off pieces like you would with standard naan.) The little red-roofed shack at the end of the street is one of those hidden gems that you have to kind of nudge people to try. Because it's good. It's really, really good. This has been a great option during Corona times because you can order everything online (you don't even have to call in!) and they'll let you know when it's ready to pick up. As an Indian/Nepali place, they have a ton of the options that you know and love already, and then some other more niche cultural dishes that you may have to go out of your comfort zone to try (like the Momo - try the dang Momo). As with a lot of Indian places, but always a pleasure to see, you'll always get huge portions. Leftovers are imminent. The guys that run this place are so nice and accommodating, and they cook with passion. We're lucky to have this right down the street from us, and we'll happily continue to support them even after Covid slows down! read more

Yesterday (Sunday) after exploring the Camp North End area when most eateries were closed, I stumbled upon this place while beginning to drive home. I was really hungry and I do like Indian prepared food. The place is small but there were a few customers seated and COVID restrictions were being followed. I was greeted nicely and presented with a robust menu of authentic Indian/Nepali dishes I ordered the Aloo Gobi, buttered Naan and two Samosas. When asked about my spice level choice (1 to 10), I chose 4/5. My wait was not very long and delightfully, my food order was served with apparent freshness. The spicing at 4/5 was enough to give me the sniffles but not overwhelming to cause abundant tears. Reasonable pricing and casual atmosphere although some interior updates could help elevate this place. When in this area again, I'd return to try more of this authentic menu. read more

Gotta jump in here with the other 5-star reviews because this place serves up good, tasty, and nicely spiced food. This spot is likely out of the way for most of y'all, but it is worth the drive and the wait. Trust on this! We've gotten now 3 times, the exact same dishes, and each time they delivered them in a consistent manner that left us saying "dayummmm!" First, the samosas are massive and at $5, a meal unto themselves, if you want. Great filling inside that does not disappoint. Next, Chicken 65 (my favorite) is AMAZING! The chicken is tender, the spices are complex, and the heat level is perfect....so much so, when you open the container that it makes me cough. So freakin' good. Then, Chicken Palek (my husband's favorite) is excellent with loads of spinach and a delicious and rich curry. You can tell this dish was built with love. Overall ok. We ordered via DoorDash so little drive to get to us. After order I called the number and asked if instead of the rice I added to just add potatoes to the meals. It sent me to the manager who said no biggie and he wasn't in so call the store. Odd DoorDash had private number but he was super nice. Lady at the place on the other hand was not and said no. Whatever didn't argue even though I just said the manager had no issues. Got the tiki and the butter chicken. Samosas and naan. Samosas were undercooked both potatoes and peas were hard. Meal portions were decent but it's really all sauce, chicken was tiny portions and overcooked. Both to me favor was lacking in the sauces. Restaurant looks dated but the food is excellent. Very flavorful and proper spicy. My old favorite for Indian in Charlotte was tamarind on independence blvd which closed down. Hadn't had Indian food I enjoyed as much since then until I got takeout from this place. I had the Palak Paneer which was so good and Samosa which was okay. Oh my gosh, please believe all the hype! We picked up food tonight & was easily the best Indian food I've had in Charlotte. We ordered the momos, malai kofta, okra & different types of bread. Everything was fresh & well packaged. A word of caution about the spice level though, we ordered at 5 for one of our dishes & it was some serious heat. Still tasty but only order higher spice level if you can handle it. My only complaint is I wish this place was not such a long drive for us. Completely worth the drive!! read more

Reading all the wonderful reviews wanted to give this place a shot. When we arrived at this place it looked really small and nothing fancy from outside. Unsure about what to expect we walked in. It's a tiny place with limited tables and basic furniture. We went ahead and ordered papdi chat, veg Shanghai rice and vegetable Manchurian. While we waited for our order, had a nice little chat with the man behind the counter ( I guess he is the owner too!) Very friendly man! We requested everything to be 7/10 spicy and MY GOD! This was the perfectly spiced food we have had ever since we moved out of india. Everything tasted so goooooooodddd!! I mean, the food was good, the portions were good and the owner was good too! The quality of the food is superb, the portions are massive, and the packaging of the food is neat and orderly. Also the level of service is amazing. My order is always ready upon arrival. While this surprised me, it did not deter me. I ordered plain naan and chicken korma (level 4). The Korma had just the perfect amount of spice, plentiful amounts of chicken and overall quite delicious! Best (Northern) Indian food I have had in Charlotte in my 24 years living in Charlotte. This really is a to-go spot during covid. Just a couple of booths and tables. This is the first review I have written in a long time. I have gone twice in the two weeks since I found this place and the second time was a good as the first. The cashier (I think owner) said to try the tiki masala ('his favorite'). It is great, and the chicken is very tender, unlike so many times I have had it when the chicken has been maybe cooking too long. In addition to the entrees and naan, the mango lassis were great too.
