If you want great, reasonably priced Indian food, this is the place to go. It's definitely a hole in the wall, but don't let that deter you. They offer some of the best Indian takeout I've had since moving to Charlotte. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala, spice level 7, and the chicken vindaloo, spice level 6, and garlic naan. Everything tasted great and was served hot. Their portions are huge and filling. If you need a little comfort food, I highly recommend you try here instead of your typically fast food joint. read more

Food was honestly just unenjoyable; after forcing myself to finish my order I realized the ambiance of the restaurant was just somewhat lacking. Servers were more than inattentive. Listen...I don't know where to start, BUT when I say this spot is everything...ITS EVERYTHING!!! My family and I were out enjoying the festivities at Camp North End. While walking to the car I smelled the aroma of Indian food and had to have it. So I decided to try Curry Gate; I'm so happy that I did. I told the gentleman that assisted me that I lived near Indian Trail/Stallings area and there aren't many places near me. I bragged on Royal Biryani and come to find out they family (but owned independently from one another). However, he talked me into trying the Lamb Tikka Masala and every bite was absolutely delicious. The lamb was super tender and melted in my mouth. I knew their food had to be good because the parking lot was full and the restaurant door was continuously revolving with new patrons or door dash pick ups. PLEASE check this place out. We'd been hearing about Curry Gate for awhile and although we cook almost every meal we eat, we just were not in the mood. Called in our order and negotiated a 5 on the spice level. Kerry thought it looked like they used an Indian heat level. Boy was he right! We had a beef and a goat dish. Both had marvelous flavors, and we cook our own Indian curries from scratch. A 5 on the heat scale was near the top of our limit and we love hot food, so choose your spice level with care. read more

We are incredibly lucky to have this spot in Charlotte! The dishes and flavors are so authentic and the portions are large. My husband and I shared Samosa and MOMO as our appetizers, then I had a lamb curry entree and he had the dum biryani entree. We were both impressed with the spices and the heat. The staff had actually called us after placing an order online to ask how spicy we wanted our dishes. We love spicy so they also provided a chili sauce on the side which definitely packed the heat. Don't go to dine in but do go for the most incredible takeout in the Asian/Indian space in charlotte. Mango Lassi, best ever; any of their fried rice, boom; all their Vegan dishes, money! You'll have food for days when you pickup your takeout. read more

Really wanted to like this place. The ratings look excellent and it's an affordable place near my neighborhood. 59 miles or approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes from my house, but if I'm going anywhere around Charlotte, I have to stop here to get my fix for Indian food. They will fix the spice heat at any level you're comfortable with.. after starting off at level 7, I had to back down to 5, which is still plenty spicy. A HIDDEN GEM! This is a very unassuming place but don't let it fool you. They are cooking up superior quality food. I am indian and have lived in the states almost 20 years with countless disappointments with Indian food. This is the first time I have had chicken Tikka (outside of NY may be) that the chicken breast chucks were so tender, juicy and flavorful. The garlic naan was so good that even after cooling it didn't turn into rubber like most other indian places. If I were a betting women I would say that they won't be in this spot for long. The kind of food they are cooking they will soon be in a fancy and much deserving location. Get them before they have to jack up their prices. Fantastic hole- in- the wall place! Chicken 65 and chaat were fantastic. Dum biryani was good too. Would favor ordering a lower number on their spice scale if you don't have much of a spice tolerance. Can definitely eat here if they have room but only a few tables inside. We went here for take out. It's very authentic and so flavorful! The spice level is spot on so when they say the spice level is 8 ; it is a spicy 8. We've been in Charlotte for a week and have eaten out almost 3 times a day. This restaurant is by far one our top selections. Soooo good! read more

This is my new favorite Indian place in Charlotte! I'm very picky about my Chicken Tikka and this place gets it just right with 10 different spice levels to customize it to whatever your taste might be. There is a parking lot with plenty of spots for pickup orders and the pricing is very reasonable given the quantity of food they give you. Finally tried this place and it was absolutely delicious. Split the vindalu chicken and makhani paneer and both were incredibly flavorful. Plenty of food to make a meal out of with the mound of rice they served with it. Plus they threw in a dessert for free - so nice of them (and also delicious). This was my first time ever trying Indian food, I got chicken curry (spice level 3) & naan bread. The spice was perfect, you can choose levels 1-10. It was very creamy and had a really good amount of chicken, way more than I expected. It came with a rice so I ate both together. Curry Gate - Indian Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

We'd just finished the Immersive Van Gogh exhibition at Camp North End, and as we always do when we're out at dinner time, we looked for nearby Indian restaurants. Curry Gate came up a short distance away; 2 minutes later we pulled up in the parking lot. The building is very unassuming, as was the inside, but everything was clean and neat. We ordered takeout Saag Paneer, Kadai Chicken, and Veggie Korma. Everything was ready in 20 minutes, bagged up tightly and ready for the long drive home where it was still hot when we arrived. Every dish was delicious, right up there with the best we've had in Charlotte, and in big portions. The only caveat we have is the level of spice. As others have noted, you might want to knock it back a notch. But this place is a gem and we'll definitely be visiting again. read more

Portion size was large and I like that they have a scale of 1-10 on how spicy you want your curry. Naan was fresh and all of my food was hot, packaged correctly and correct when I got it home. I have eaten here 3 times and my goal is to try everything on the menu. It's delicious and very efficient in a Covid way. Delivery is timely and affordable. Online ordering is simple. Everything is packed perfectly. I had the chicken MOMO dumplings and they are wonderful, I could eat 100. I previously had the Mutter pander, wonderful and the Tonka Marsala, also very good. I ordered spice level 4 and it had some kick so be careful what level you order. Neighborhood is in the process of gentrification and has a way to go, slightly sketchy at night. I recommend a day trip for your first visit or order delivery. It's nice to have other choices besides pizza, Vietnamese or over priced American food in the area. read more
