Vegan late night life-saving Indian!
Lavelle V.

Vegan late night life-saving Indian!- with my Love .. on the way home from Kenosha to Libertyville. Super nice, Mngr/ Server / Bartender Lady, Jill. And Karaoke singing / music playing Patron, JR. (what an entertaining character!- we loved him!) Seriously a super cute late Tuesday night experience. ;-)

Saturday lunch was two orders of naan with garlic, an order of Delhi fries, I ordered the Indian burrito and my friend ordered chimichangas. The naan was great, although the Delhi fries are just fries made in house style, fried and then baked with mozzarella and bacon. I would be really interested in a seasoned fry. Still good fries, but nothing special for the name. My Indian burrito was well constructed, filled with Indian influenced flavors; fresh onion and cilantro provide a refreshing flavor after the strong, rich flavors of the chicken tikka masala. The rice and beans were flavorful as well. I found the portions fair for the price as well. Service was attentive, wait times were very reasonable. I will be returning to try more of the dishes.

Chicken Tikka Masala, Kali Daal, Saag

We walked 2.5 miles to eat here, because we really wanted to try Indian food in Illinois (we're from California). We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was!! Although it wasn't as spicy as we would have preferred, the flavor really stood out and it made up. I came with my parents and together we got Chicken Tikka Masala, Kalli Dal, and Saag with garlic naan and raita. The portion sizes were good, we had a bit leftover but we took it to go. Prices are reasonable and the service was very welcoming and friendly.

Yummy!!!! Great quality and service! A+++ The food was a tad on the spicy side, however savory and well done. We will be back. They aren't open in the kitchen even though it says open some times. We will be back, loved the tender chicken and paneer!

Chicken Tikka Masala and Rice Pilaf

I had seen this a couple times as i drove by and decided to try it out. The people that run the place were very nice to us. I had the Chicken Tika Masala and she had the Burrito Bowl with Chicken. Mine was not very spicy but flavorful and hers was somewhat spicy with the salsa.

Get the chicken. It's really good. Everything is always fresh. Great for vegetarians too

This place is amazing. The service is friendly and she makes things from scratch. If you're vegetarian this is a great place too. I didn't have much time for lunch and she brought out the food in five minutes!!! It's very very good.

I love this place! Such a great place to eat dinner! Quiet ambiance, authentic, homemade meals! The staff is always helpful if you are new to Indian food and the servings are filling with mostly vegetarian options!! I always get the Chili Paneer Samosas as an appetizer, so yummy with a little spice! I normally order the Pratha (a flaky flatbread that melts in your mouth) to pair with any dish. With not a ton of variety for food in Winthrop Harbor this restaurant is an amazing choice for something different and delicious!

Excellent Indian food! We had the palaak Paneer and Baigan ka bharta (egg plant). Will be back soon!! The daughter of chef was extremely nice! She spent time to talk with us and explained the menu, etc. Highly recommend!

Very good Indian food! But the star of the show was their lychee dessert. One of a kind and delicious! Even if I know it's from a tin can!

It was full of cardamom and saffron flavor and topped with whipped cream. Chole kulcha & bhatura is a must-try!! The bhatura was not oily, which was surprising, and the kulcha was so soft. The chole gravy was delicious, and the pickle paired really well with the combo. The chaat items weren't great. Dahi bhalla felt dry and didn't absorb the flavors of the chaat. Papadi chaat was oily, which was a turn-off. Malai chaap was great. The soy was tender and had a smoky flavor. The malai gravy was really yummy and paired super well with the chaap. For entrées, we had the Veg Hyderabadi, which was a spinach-based gravy. All the veggies were tender and absorbed the flavors of the spices. Paneer labandar was super yummy. The gravy was flavorful and mildly spicy, and the paneer was tender. Daal makhani was really great--perfectly creamy and spicy with amazing flavor. I was super excited to try the rumali roti, but it was a bit disappointing. It wasn't soft and had a LOT of butter. The garlic naan, however, was super soft and yummy. We ended the dinner with rasmalai, which was super yummy and loaded with dry fruits. Moong daal halwa tasted very comforting on this cold evening. The servers were very helpful, and the service was quick! Would definitely be back here specifically for the chole kulcha!

The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing; there are very big windows on the side and you can look out at the sky while you are eating. The food is excellent; the spice levels vary across the different dishes so be sure to ask your server. They are happy to heat them up or cool them down for you, and will also bring you little samples before ordering as well. The samosas are almost as good as Mummie's, absolutely bursting with flavour and spice. The Hyderabadi chicken is a treasure. Oh, my god. It's so good. I can't stop eating it. The Chicken Biryani is wonderful, as is the Vegetable Masala. Oh, my goodness! There is also a buffet Tuesdays through Fridays which is terrific; there are lots of dishes and you can try them all. This is a terrific restaurant and I plan to return, very soon!

As a first timer it took us a little bit to get used to the complex spicy taste and spicy smells. I tried a beef and chicken dish, and it was really nice. The pieces of meat were super tender fresh, and they were cut into nice sized pieces (not oversized). The rice was tasty and loved the (? not sure) cucumber sauce/dip to bring down the heat a bit. The Naans were amazing; I prefer the cheesy ones the best! Defiantly would recommend and come back to try other dishes. Service was a bit slower so be prepared to potentially wait, but the quality of the food absolutely made it worth it! Already thinking about when we can visit again just to eat here.

Try FOI, you'll be happy you did! The food is fabulously fresh & assuredly authentic. (Confirmed by…read moretwo people: One who spent half-a-year in India; the other whom spent over a year in southeast Asia.) We've tried a variety of menu offerings & are looking forward to continue exploring & enjoying these blissful renderings of this cuisine. If you're new to this type of food I do recommend by opting for "mild" spice level to begin with. Then turn up the heat if you find something you like. Also starting with simpler items like buttered chicken, chicken fried rice, aloo gobi masala, garlic cheese naan, lamb rogan josh, samosas, shahi chicken korma or peas pulav might be good dishes to whet your palate. Again, start with "mild" spices then turn up the heat as you find dishes you prefer. We're talking about a carryout or delivery only restaurant, it is not a dine-in place and thats fine by me. You can tell just by the aromas that the place scores in authenticism. Their menu is full if veg, non-veg snacks, entrees, both classic and Indo-Chinese On our first visit, we just ordered a few chicken dum biryanis and lamb rogan josh . Good marks. Decent basmati rice, tender chicken, fragrant, though I do not think this is cuisine of the northern region. Lamb rogan josh had that vibrant red color with a south Indian flair. I am so happy that they don't tone the spice levels down. FOI is a winner in my book. I have heard that other dishes are also worth trying. I have a feeling we won't be running to Schaumburg, Naperville, or Chicago quite as much.
