From the looks of it this so called Indian restaurant in Winthrop Harbor may seem kind of sketchy, but it's actually pretty good Indian food. It's not an actual Indian restaurant though, because it's in a bar with a gaming area and it's only for takeout. Delhi Bistro has many of the basics. Everything from channa masala to tikka masala. The food has mostly a mild spice. After looking up places to eat, we came here. It was a bit confusing, because this wasn't like an Indian restaurant. This is more like a bar to be honest, with a gaming area in the next room with video slots. Also you could only do takeout for the food. It's about $12 for an entree, and we got the Channa Masala. Good flavor with a spice to it. The portions were pretty small for the high price. Come here if wanting Indian food to go. It's pretty authentic flavor with plenty of spice. I have to say that this is unfortunately some of the most bland Indian food I've ever tasted. The chicken tikka masala is a small portion size, bland and not spicy at all, the sauce is watery and there is 0 spice to it. However, the rice is tasty and portion is big and comes with the entrees you order for free which is nice. The uber eats menu also needs to be updated - it lists things as available which are not actually available on specific days at the restaurants discretion. read more

Helll nah!!! Not sure if cultural difference but why are you addressing the man when I AM THE ONE PAYING AND TALKING TO YOU. This man tried to tell me what to order. No I know what i want. Out of the whole menu there were like 2 items available. Stale naan. Then charged me for the extra toppings THAT WERE INCLUDED in curry burrito bowl description. No mango Chutney and no raita. That's like going to a mex place and then charging you extra for each filling. The only thing edible here was the paratha which is frozen and warmed up. Aka not made by them. Saturday lunch was two orders of naan with garlic, an order of Delhi fries, I ordered the Indian burrito and my friend ordered chimichangas. The naan was great, although the Delhi fries are just fries made in house style, fried and then baked with mozzarella and bacon. I would be really interested in a seasoned fry. Still good fries, but nothing special for the name. My Indian burrito was well constructed, filled with Indian influenced flavors; fresh onion and cilantro provide a refreshing flavor after the strong, rich flavors of the chicken tikka masala. The rice and beans were flavorful as well. I found the portions fair for the price as well. Service was attentive, wait times were very reasonable. We walked 2.5 miles to eat here, because we really wanted to try Indian food in Illinois (we're from California). We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was!! Although it wasn't as spicy as we would have preferred, the flavor really stood out and it made up. I came with my parents and together we got Chicken Tikka Masala, Kalli Dal, and Saag with garlic naan and raita. The portion sizes were good, we had a bit leftover but we took it to go. The staff is always helpful if you are new to Indian food and the servings are filling with mostly vegetarian options!! The curbside is a lie. Asked them over the phone for curbside, they said sure, go through a long ordering process involving three people. At the end I asked again for curbside and they said yes. So I told them I was ready with my credit card. "Oh no, honey, you have to come in." "But the whole reason I called is because you say you do curbside? How do I pay?" "Just come in, you'll be okay." It'll pass as Indian if you're desperate for some spicy food close to home and you live in the area. The Indian menu is very limited. Samosas were delicious- small bits of seasoned potato wrapped in light flaky dough and served with a very tasty hot sauce. Daal Makhani was not bad, but not great either. Entrees come with a side of "Indian" rice- which was a lot more like Chinese fried rice and Indian to be honest, just because it wasn't quite as flaky as the rice in traditional Indian restaurants. The Raj Ma I wasn't a fan of, the flavor of it was much more Mexican than Indian. Naan was great- naan is always great. What really killed it was the slot machines in the back, which aren't on mute, so if you're unlucky, you'll get to hear the "ching" of slot machines all night long. read more

We had samosas made for a party we attended recently and they were the first thing eaten by the guests. Prices are a little high for a lunch experience but the same menu is available for evening dining so it makes sense that the prices are the same - overall, it's not very expensive. We were in the Zion area and were feeling hungry. I was in the mood for a good burger and was anxious to try a new place as my go to placea are all in Kenosha County. I checked out the reviews of Delhi Belly which were mostly very favorable. We walked in(was a Sunday afternoon,) and were greeted by a lovely Indian woman. She said they only serve Indian food now, as the chef who prepared the Mexican had to move. She said in a very heavy Indian accent "I'm Indian, I cook and serve Indian food." She asked us to look at the menu and if we saw something we like she would prepare it fresh for us, but would take a bit of time. We were not in a rush so we chose to stay and order. The restaurant is closed on Sunday but has to keep the door open for access to the next door business. But she said very kindly, "if you want to eat, I can not say no. I like to cook, but not work the bar!" We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Indian burrito, 2 kinds of Naan and Raita. All were so delicious! The burrito was large, filled with chicken, rice pilaf, vegetables delicious spices. I added the Raita with each bite. Amazing! Dave loved his Masala also. Excellent food, prices and service. Stopped here for lunch because we had a taste for some Mexican food. What a delightful surprise this turned out to be. We started with a couple of traditional margaritas that were totally satisfying. They would be proudly served in any restaurant in downtown Chicago but at half the price. We then ordered the taco party for two. The table was filled with all the fixings for 8 tacos made with steak and chicken. That along with the sides of rice and beans was enough to feed at least 6 people. This place is a real gem. Friendly staff and great food. I can't wait to come back and try their dinner menu. The boating season is starting so we were in the neighborhood last night. We ordered the taco party for 2 again and were not disappointed. In fact, it was better than before if that's possible. What a great spot for Mexican and (we're told) Indian food. Sarina was so nice! We loved the music and we were treated so good. I've had Indian cuisine before but this raises the bar for me. The seasoning/spices were out of this world.
